This firm is so incompetent it is borderline criminal. We fired them from bookkeeping, but kept them for tax prep. Here is how that went: In January, we had a tax planning meeting (seems a little late, but whatever). Their estimate of the income we would report for 2023 was off by 300%. That's 300% off what the same firm calculated two months later when they actually did the taxes. No new numbers came in, everything was available in mid January when they came up with the estimate. When they filed tax returns in April for our firm, they overstated our income on our state returns, apportioning 100% to each state we do business in, instead of proportional amounts. We overpaid our taxes by $100k, and only caught the mistake because *we* found it and pointed it out to them. It took MM over 48 hours to confirm the mistake that we pointed out to them. They then filed amended returns. We will eventually get that money back, but only because of our own diligence. Also...never so much as an apology or taking accountability for the massive mistake. I have another firm redoing our tax filings, to make sure no other mistakes were made. Expensive lesson. read more

I have been using MillerMusmar for over a year now as an outsourcing accounting and CPA service provider for my company (it was recommended to us by our previous on-staff accountant who had quit amidst the mounting pressure and heavy scrutiny). My main objective in using MillerMusmar was to demonstrate to the government customer that my company (besides being an innovator in artificial intelligence) has a sound accounting practices and proper procedures above and beyond of what was required to work with the DOD and to get us a Phase II contract (after several Phase I contracts) for developing the next-generation AI system. In general, these things could get very tricky (especially amidst the constantly changing government requirements and regulation). And we also had to do it while under heavy scrutiny from some government agents trying hard to stop small businesses from being able to compete. The long story short -- we have successfully fulfilled this goal and are now on a contract and in business. I am thus happy with the services provided. read more

I was sold a bill of goods. For $1500 for an individual tax return in 2016. It took 4 weeks to process my taxes - obviously I was low priority). My assigned accountant told me my taxes would be filed Never received a completed final return, Actually MillerMusmar filed an extension - and did not tell me - and FORGOT to file my actual tax return in October?! (wtf) DID not offer a refund, credit - but wanted to charge me an additional $100 for 2017 tax return. Unless you have money to burn, don't have questions, and don't care how much your returns cost, use someone or something else. Even turbo tax files your taxes on time. read more

These reviews reflect 100% actual experience and am willing to prove it!! 8/1/2016 Updated review: I received a couple phone calls from Geith Musmar, aka Joey Musmar, the managing partner, threatening me that if I didn't remove my review that he will be my "worst nightmare" and he will "wipe the floor with my face" in his EXACT words and hung up on me!! I texted him back and I told him that no one threatens me and that my 100% accurate review will stand. This is the type of firm you will be dealing with if you hire them. He thought he can bully me into removing my review but he was wrong!! DO NOT TRUST these people with your taxes!! They are only interested in taking your money and never deliver any results, PERIOD! 7/13/2016 Original review: The best thing that ever happened to my business is firing this accounting company. They promise you the world and all the help to justify their high quotes but never deliver. Their CPA Angie, is the most unprofessional CPA you will ever work with. They deliver your income tax for signature and approval hours (Literally) before their due time and date. So if there is a mistake whether they or you made, you will have no choice but to sign and then pay them again to amend your taxes. They will hurt your business instead of helping it. I've worked with major firms in the past and I haven't run into a firm that has the understanding that MM has in this arena. Joey Musmar and his staff are professional and understand the complexities of my business. It seems when you work with the Big 4 and you are less than a Fortune 500 company,they always pass your work to junior associates who don't have much experience. We had a very difficult account to settle with the IRS. Jeff, our accountant spent a great deal of time talking with both of us and IRS. This was very time intensive and required huge amount of effort on Jeff's part to resolve all of the issues. His effort paid off in a very successful resolution. MIllerMusmar was once operated by Donna Miller. My family and I were among its first customers. As our business endeavors grew, so did our relationship with Donna. Donna has since passed and the company is operated by another MillerMusmar partner (guess who?). As they say, the other partner is no Donna Miller. This company made an error on important tax filings, modeling for me a break even in 2012 when in fact the IRS came back and indicated I owed 80,000 because MM applied unusable tax credits, then inquired with the state and informed me that they had inadvertently allowed them to lapse because they we not used by MM within the 5-year time limit, only to find out that this was not the case and they had been liquidated the previous year based on advise by (you guessed it) MM! I unexpectedly have to come out of pocket $80k! Plus $8500 in additional interest! I asked MM to consider filing a claim on their errors and omissions insurance to recoup the $8,500 in interest I was obligated to pay because of the delay. This request would have cost them a mere $1,000. I had been paying upwards of $10k a year for decades. Their action was (drum roll)??? They dismissed me as a client 1-week before my 2014 years filing was due, and refused to take any calls, and did not bother to make a claim on their insurance. After 30 years of patronage this is what you get from MM when they make a mistake on your taxes. Keep this in mind when considering an accounting firm. You can do A LOT better, and pay A Lot less (50%). read more
