Need a meeting room in Ellicott City? Meet the Miller Branch Library on Frederick Road west of US-29!
We got a room for six people for 90min, to plan for a community food-distribution event (Apr 2026). The modern clean room was fully enclosed, with three windowed walls. We didnt need any fancy facilities or equipment, just a conference table, and our meeting really had no setup or cleanup time. Booking a room was as easy as finding the reservation page on their website, and planning a few days ahead. It was free, quiet, and very convenient, with plenty of parking and easy access for all.
We discovered that many if not all Howard County libraries have rooms that can be used for free by non-profit organizations and community groups for civic, cultural, or educational meetings or programs of 2 to 200 people, that are open to the public at no charge. One of our group has a HoCo library card, but that did not seem to be a requirement. The larger rooms have all kinds of A/V equipment and some have attached kitchenettes. There are some limits on how often you can use the larger rooms, and some rules about how far in advance you can reserve.
This was so easy, and it was nice to be able to get people together without the expense of a lunch. We were pleasantly surprised! Thank you Howard County Libraries! read more
