I arrived at 5pm and there were 3 other families in the waiting room. I was called back rather quickly to the intake nurse within 20 mins...that made me happy! Then she takes me back to my ER bed and I'd say by 6:30 they had given me an IV and taken blood samples. Now the wait begins. I was told by 7pm I'd be going for an ultrasound but that didn't happen because apparently they change shifts at 7pm....soooo 9:30pm comes around and I'm being wheeled down for the ultrasound. I will say the ultrasound tech was very kind and by 10pm I was back to the freezing ER room and told I need to wait to see the Dr to tell me my ultrasound results. It's now 11pm and still no Dr. I'll update this post once he comes and I'm released but I just don't think SIX hours in the ER is reasonable, for blood to be drawn and an ultrasound...I could be clueless though. Oh and I guess I'm naive but they don't give patients snacks/food after being in the icebox for SIX hours? This is insanity. UPDATE!! After asking the nurse to see the Dr he finally comes in at 11:30pm and apologizes for the wait and says that's normal for an ER. Waited another 20 mins to get my discharge papers and was free at last! UGH!

I'm currently without any health insurance and going through some flu-like symptoms. I love my PCP,…read morebut can't afford the trip until my new health insurance kicks in. After calling out from work, I looked around online and saw the minute clinic near me. They open up at 8:30 am and seem to close around 7-7:30 pm, with an hour closed for lunch (2 pm). Weekend hours are a bit shorter but I think they're open 7 days a week. Booked my appointment online, only had to wait about 10 minutes tops after arriving and checking in. After booking, you'll get texted/emailed a code, just type that in at the kiosk in the store and give them a few other pieces of info/sign crap, and you're good to go. It's located just off the pharmacy to the side, so you'll get to stare at the people waiting in the ridiculous pharmacy line while you wait! The provider (sadly I didn't get her name) was awesome. She did NOT order any unnecessary tests, especially knowing I was uninsured. She took the time to walk me over and get something OTC to help me out. I really appreciated that. I got my diagnosis without the ridiculous ER or walk-in clinic bill. In fact, minute clinic posts their prices online, so no big surprises if you're paying cash. I'd go here for any non-emergency if I couldn't see my PCP, or didn't have insurance. Heck, I'd still go back once insurance kicks in for simple stuff. I wish they had more of these and more providers like the one I saw today.

Please for the love of whatever you believe in DO NOT put your loved one in this facility for long…read moreterm care. It isn't that the staff is shady at all. It is that whoever owns this facility and the top level administrators are bilking not only the system but people who are privately paying out of tons of money while they sit behind their expensive desks, drive their cars from Lakewood, and that gas and car $$$ must be on our dime bc it is a business expense, and then try to tell you with a straight face, condescending tone that they have the amount of staffing that they have because medicaid only pays, "blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,BLAH!". No, not acceptable response! It matters not what medicaid reimburses them to me when your fanciness is handing me a business card from a beautiful expensive wooden BOX (not one of those cheap plastic holders)...another business expense. However, more importantly, it matters not one iota what medicaid reimburses or how expensive you look or that my father is paying out of pocket private pay $$$ for a 5 star hotel room rate to get a cheap off the highway sketchy motel kind of room. It doesn't matter what medicaid reimburses because when there is only one nurse's aid for a boat load of people and 2 nurses (maybe), well you know that they cannot give any person the kind of attention and care that he or she deserves. These staff members (mostly) seem to really care but how much can they do? They are great to my dad and they do the best that they can for my mom but how much can they do for her with that kind of staffing? These owners/administrators come from Lakewood, do your research on those who mainly live in Lakewood. Let's just say that they are not available fully and don't visit from sundown Friday night to sundown Saturday night....probably not even on Sunday, either. Let's just say that they are supposedly The Chosen People and they are choosing to mistreat other people and their loved ones by making a conscious decision to get around legalities or they do the very, very minimum so that they can put more and more $$$ into their pockets only to treat other human beings in an immoral manner. They are on notice with me because I have a nice video to show the amount of staffing they have and what happens when there is not enough people to staff a nursing home with high risk elderly people. When I went to put my mom to bed, her diaper was so soaking wet that she had to be sitting in that for many, many hours. I mean, I have taken care of babies who's parents didn't change their diaper overnight and it was....it was this kind of soaking wet. Leaked right through her pants, urine on her bed because I had no idea what condition her diaper was in. Bed alarm buzzing for at least 20 minutes before anyone came (because there is only one Nurse's aid for maybe 20-30 ppl)...My mom could have really fallen out of bed, hit her head, and have been found dead, worst case scenario, as a result of LOW STAFFING APPROVED BY ADMINISTRATION!!!! Well, you know what, I am going to make sure that if anything bad happens to my mom or anyone else living there that these Lakewood owners pay through the roof for what they are continuing to do to our loved ones!!! (monetarily and by outing them in the media!!!
