I moved in to one of their properties in November of 2018. The apartment is in an ideal location for a great price, the employees are extremely friendly and accommodating, and any maintenance issues were responded to quickly and efficiently. Contrary to some of the other posts on here, Kara, Sergei, and Alex have been great to interact with, and have been more than accommodating with any needs or problems that arose. I have inadvertently overheard the staff's interactions with other tenants while picking up packages in the office and observed the same professional demeanor with them. All I can say is, find a better management company. I wish I had done my research before moving into one of their buildings. I've been living here for 5 years and it's getting worse every year. This is an utterly unsafe company. The buildings are unsafe. Theres frequent break-ins and your stuff will get stolen in the building. Your car will get repeatedly broken into. The properties are in high crime areas. Management will rent to anyone with a pulse. It doesn't matter if they're dangerous or crazy or anything. They won't evict anyone because they're too cheap. They don't even bother to enforce their own lease. They let people live here that are not on the lease and have not had criminal background check because they don't even pay attention to who is coming and going. Its like living in a low income housing project. They don't care at all about standards or their reputation. Just stay away, these properties are dangerous. Kara is not the owner and she shirks her responsibilities as property manager. She has no interest in maintaining safe buildings. You will not have a right to quiet enjoyment here. Get used to dealing with the dregs of humanity if you rent a unit here and if you complain, they will retaliate against you by not renewing. Rented for three years from them only because it was cheap and the proximity to campus & my jobs was pretty much perfect. Many people say they're absolutely impossible to get in contact with but I would not agree, you just have to go down to the office building on 5th street and/or continue to call and bug them about stuff. That being said, this should not be the case. If a tenant is experiencing issues -- whether its as simple as changing the water pressure in the shower or as dire as the heat going out in the dead of winter, management should not be dodging calls and ignoring emails. Most everything I've read on yelp, reddit, and other review sites has been entirely true; everything from broken washers and inconsistent replies and assistance to domestic violence disputes. In fact.... I don't know if this counts but in the building I used to live in there was a piece of shit who lived in one of the basement apts who had two pit bulls living with him. Not only did he consistently leave their shit ALL over the blvd and front yard of our building, but I observed him beating his dogs several times over the three years I lived there. I must have called and reported this piece of garbage to management 10 times over the course of the three years I lived there and they consistently said they'd "work on it" or "look into solutions". Can only imagine this douche is still living in the same place continuing to treat his poor dogs like trash. Shame on you guys, figure your shit out. ZERO STARS Save yourself the time, money, headaches, and your own safety and DO NOT rent from this company. The only lock on our front door is literally a hole and nails by the hole to prevent the lock from falling off the door. It is beyond inadequate and unsafe I don't know how these properties are passing inspections. Not to mention before we moved in we were told that we would be getting a new dryer as the one that was installed took 3 runs to dry laundry. It took months for them to install the dryer we were promised before we moved in. Then there was the water leak in our living room that was first reported on 09/28/23 and wasn't "fixed" until 12/29/23 after I had to reach out and tell them I was preparing to file with the courts to hold our rent in escrow. What would you know they were at the house the next day to fix it. We then asked for some sort of compensation for our over $500 water bill (for reference when the leak was fixed our water bills ranged from 250-350). We were then told by Sergey that the leak was not from incoming water so they would not do anything about it. We then noticed the next day that they didn't actually fix the leak and they sent it two different crews to try and get it fixed. On 12/28/23 Surgey emailed me saying "Once maintenance figures out the leak, I will get back to you to go over the account." (referring to our water bill). Once the last crew came through and actually fixed the leak I was expecting an email back from Surgey but over 7 months later and I still have not heard a word back. Other issues we suffered at this property includes: AC unit breaking down constantly, finding mold under sink at move in for them to just cover it with a plastic cover, animals in the ceilings and walls, gas leaks and more. Millennium Management has been a great place to live. They have affordable housing and are pet friendly. They have many many numerous houses and apartment buildings to choose from. Many of the places in the safe neighborhoods near and around the U of M. They also run great rental specials of no application fee- no dog rent/deposit-half off of security deposit. The very few maintenance problems I have had were fixed quickly and smoothly. The Millennium Management team are very friendly and helpful in every way. What a joke! Millennium Management bought the triplex in Saint Paul on southeast corner of Portland and Dewey and immediately added extra bedrooms to juice up the rental revenue. What had with been a well maintained and attractive triplex is now an unkempt, unattended, and poorly maintained cash cow for Millennium that blights the neighborhood. Grass is cut once per summer, snow is not shoveled, used furniture is scattered around the yard. And now, Millennium has left a huge pile of trash including mattresses and sheetrock in the alley from when the previous tenants moved out. It has been there for the last two weeks in spite of neighbor complaints to the Saint Paul code compliance office. PARKING LOT HAS NO SECURITY NO CAMERAS Because of UMN there will always be a demand for this place. So NEVER sign the AS-IS move-in. It will ruin you later. My car was hit in the parking lot, and no security cameras and I had to spend $1500. We pay monthly $50 for nothing. 3. The stains in the kitchen are years worth, not just the last year. But be prepared to get charged. We had complained about it last year in our move-in checklist which was ignored. 4. The microwave had no handle. Electrical Hazard! Never fixed the entire year we were there. 5. Door buzzers are a fashion accessory they do not work. 6. You want to use the laundry machines in the building, forget it if you cannot get tokens between 9 am - 5 pm M - F. You have to go 5 blocks to main office to collect it. Please don't advertise as in building laundry. 7. Mice problem was never dealt with properly. There was a 30-minute touch-up done so that they can show that on record. We set traps (none provided by management) and caught 2 of many after the pest guy came and went 8. Apartment door frame was broken and never fixed. We left the apartment in a better condition than what we got. But it is a hard lesson learned that Management companies are money-making entities with ZERO regards for tenants. We paid $14800 for the entire year and they want us to believe they have to hold a portion of the security deposit. The amount is nothing I can make more. We currently do not have water at our building. It's been over 12 hours. When asked for more information about when service we be restored, we got silence. This isn't the first time they've done this. In the last month we've had water shut off to the whole building at least 5 times. Each time, there was little to no warning and poor communication. I understand pipes freeze sometimes (if that even is why the water shut off, it's never clear), but the refusal to give information or be considerate to their tenants is deeply frustrating. People rely on their landlord to provide these basic services or at least be clear and transparent about interruptions in service. It's amazing that in every single review they reply "Contact us if you need anything", yet not once did they finish our maintenance requests within even a month or answer their office phone. I rented one of their units all through the past leasing season. During my stay, my fridge broke not once, not twice but FOUR times. This was towards the end of my stay and from past experiences I'd learnt that the only way to get anything fixed was to visit them in person. They don't pick up calls, reply to email/voicemail business hours or not. Hell, it's more useful to reach out to the mechanics they employ than the management! They're polite in person but their actions don't live up to it - they consider their job over as soon as you sign the lease. After one of my blinds broke, my maintenance request was conveniently ignored for a MONTH before I had to pay them a visit and get it done. Over Xmas, NONE of the washing machines in the laundry were working for a good number of days. Oh, and the machines are ancient - you need to go to a different building altogether to get tokens to operate them. The only way to get into the building is guess what, to wait for someone to enter/exit! ARGHHHHH The walls are thin, you can hear EVERYTHING from the moaning, groaning, yelling, pissing to TV going on in the building. Recommendation - Rent anywhere but Millennium. Pretty sure they changed the company name to try and dodge the bad reviews. Outrageous prices and everything in the property is broken. Holes in the walls, ceilings, and floors; the toilet barely flushes, the shower doesn't drain, and half the light switches don't work; the fridge keeps breaking and they don't respond quickly so we have to throw food away. They say they provide laundry in-unit and raise the rent accordingly, but the washer and dryer setting don't work and they tear my clothes. The screens are loose so that bugs get in, and all they do to fix it is duct tape the cracks. They won't answer the phone even during their listed business hours, and they won't return a voicemail or email. A few of my classmates who rent other properties from this company all say the same things. Update: The plumbing broke and it took them 4 weeks to respond to the maintenance request. After the 4 weeks they didn't say they were sending someone with a key or give a timeframe, so I was terrified to be home alone and hear a man inside my house. They don't send professionals, so nothing gets fixed the right way. We have to put in new maintenance requests for the same problems every few weeks/months because they break again so quickly. read more

To begin, I have rented somewhere new every year for the past 5 years (not because of the management company, or being evicted, but because I'm looking for the right fit for me). Millennium is by far the worst I've ever experienced. Id rate them down there with CPM. Below is a list of grievances from the last 7 months: 1. Our home has been entered without proper notification on 3 separate occasions, none of them being an emergency (2 were showings, and 1 was someone coming in to hang something on our wall). 2. My roommates and my personal contact information was given out to the future tenants without our consent, so the tenants could harass us and try to get us to move out early (due to future leases we would have no where to live so we can't). Again, Tammy gave. out. our. information. 3. The backyard (which was advertised as a hangout spot) is unusable and unsafe. It's full of garbage, broken bottles, needles (seriously), boards and bedframes with rusty nails sticking out. Just totally unsafe, and we have asked them to maintain it and clean it up multiple times over the past year. 4. It's currently June 4th and our front yard has not been mowed, nor have any of the other houses they own on this block. Honestly, if you can live literally anywhere else, do it. read more

There are items on my move in checksheet still not done 2 1/2 years later. Oh and they don't consider anything an emergency! Backup tub (only one in house) waited over 4 hours for them to respond. I ended up having to pay rotorooter so I could shower and go to work. Electrical outage over 49 hours because they are too cheap to have an electrician that was in neighborhood fix the issue correctly. We moved in and our house was filthy dirty, we were told a reimbursement was in process for our cleaning and received a minimal compensation for over 50 hours of cleaning the house. During the MN vortex, our heat broke and maintenance did not come for over a day. There was a gas leak from our broken stove and millennium's emergency maintenance line did not answer, left a message and they came 6 hours later, FOR A GAS LEAK. Found out after signing that our house caught fire in 2003 causing the deaths of three students. We fought for new smoke detectors since they were over 18 years old when we moved in and the fire extinguishers were also expired. A moldy basement downstairs full of broken tile was not fixed for a month into our lease. Complete disregard for safety and millennium only works to make money off of desperate students looking for housing. Told we'd have A/C which did not work when we moved in. Windows were cracked as well as half of the blinds did not work. Broken glass all over the property and steps were damaged and cracking. Super disorganized with administration too so you'll talk to 3-5 people to fix an issue and the office is a mess when I went to sign my lease. Please for your safety, stay clear of MM. Avoid at all costs for your own safety. They've changed their LLC name over 25 times to hide from any issues (like the 2003 fire) and they are sleazy. Our property manager has been making strides to rectify our initial impressions but it's almost too far gone at this point. For your own health, do not rent from them. The neighbors are all disrespectful as hell, they throw trash right outside the window on the front lawn, they blast, and I mean BLAST music at 3AM, they take the parking spot that WE pay for without even asking, and the entire building REAKS of weed and blunts. And guess what? The landlord does nothing. Hell, it took me forever to even find the property manager name. Renting through this company has been a complete nightmare. If I could give them less than one star, I would do it in a heartbeat. I rented a house back in September and was told that two bedrooms and a bathroom were going to be built in the downstairs starting in October and finishing in December. They did not even begin the remodel until January and are only halfway through the process and it is April. We have been without a washer and dryer for months and have not been able to get in contact with anyone from the company to figure out what is going on. We have had mice everywhere because the contractors leave the side door open and have not been able to get in contact with Millennium about this issue. By far this is one of the worst leasing agencies I have ever rented from. The building I live in has to be violating health codes, 1022 15th Ave SE. Whenever there is a call for emergency maintenance no one answers for as long as 2-3 weeks. This building is not a suitable place to live during the middle of winter because it will sit at freeze temperature and during the summer it sits at 82-90 degrees. do not rent from this place! if i could give it negative 1000000 stars i would! ground floor apartments leaked for days. everything was practically broken and falling apart. ridiculously expensive as well - 885 a month rent for a one-bedroom plus 50 dollars a month parking plus extra fees if you have a pet plus when you move in they want a security deposit and first month's rent before you even move in. i will never rent from them again they are thieves and all they care about is taking your money!!! fucking crooks!! read more

This renting company has been completely awful from the start. Our house has a driveway in the back where our cars have been broken into multiple times. After contacting a manager she just said, send an email to an address that wasn't ever created. Then, construction started on the houses next to us (they tore down two homes and are building new ones) and Millennium Management didn't even tell us. However, the construction company emailed all of us a couple days before it started. They probably got all our emails from the landlord who isn't supposed to give out tenants information. We also told them that our keys didn't work for our front door because we could no longer enter our back door because of construction, and they gave us a key ring that didn't have a single key that worked. We actually had to switch the deadbolt with one in the house because that's the lock that the keys worked for. Worst of all, Millennium Management didn't even notify us that this house was a previous duplex and that there are two gas meters, and two electric meters. We have been paying one side of the house's utilities 5 months into our lease and just recently found out that we were supposed to be paying utilities for two sides. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY THEY ARE AWFUL AND INCOMPETENT. read more

"Minnesota's number one source for rental housing in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area" HA. If you don't call multiple times, you will never get an answer. We were without heat during the polar vortex and submitted work orders marked as "urgent" and that it was dangerous for the residents (it is Minnesota law that landlords provide a safe residence), but they didn't come for WEEKS and only after we called several times! Even when they say they'll come and fix something, they don't. Or someone comes by and still doesn't do anything. We spent well over 50 hours cleaning the property on move-in day, which they deemed perfectly acceptable. We didn't sign the form to move in early so that it would be cleaned, and we had EIGHT dumpsters full of trash that was left. There was food, there were Halloween skeletons, there was furniture. You couldn't tell what color the floors were. Even the carpet was indistinguishable. We didn't have reliable keys for our DOORS to the residence for a month. One of the bathrooms was too moldy to use for over a month. AC was advertised, but does not work (and even if it did, the single unit would be insufficient). They make promises to get us off their backs, and then when we try to follow through we get sent nasty e-mails telling us to stop and that it'll never happen. Tours come without notice, they enter bedrooms without knocking. The tour guide never introduces herself, just walks into the house and is then rude. It takes MONTHS for issues to be fixed, then when we finally call we hear, "oh, that was real?" Yes! It is marked urgent! It was marked a safety concern! Complete disregard for their tenants and the law! I am completely flabbergasted! I do not now and doubt I will ever understand their complete inattention, disrespect, indifference, and downright neglect that they continuously show their tenants and properties. Just because we're young and college students doesn't mean we don't deserve to be treated like adults, or at least human beings. Completely disgusting. So, I would totally recommend avoiding them at all costs. read more
