I found Elixio's on Yelp and my wife called to make an appointment. They was able to fit me in, especially seeing as though it was the holiday weekend. Its easy to find, right across from Walgreens. There's street parking as well as parking in the rear. Upon my wife and I entering...I can't lie...nothing short of amazing...no lie. Your greeted by one of the many barbers..everyone is friendly! Amazing posters of your favorite superheroes and movie folk. Various vending machines and great signage everywhere while music plays so believe me...its comfortable even if you had to wait...forgot to mention the flatscreens! Tyshawn was my barber. Good brother...very friendly, patient and understanding...and even a better barber. Although I miss you Pop...and it'll hurt whenever I'm back in CT, I know in time it'll get better... But instead of getting a cut here at home ill give Elixio's a call and see if Tyshawn is open.

Ever since I lost my last hairstylist who…read moreswitched to a different line of work, I've had the hardest time finding someone who knows how to cut short Asian hair. A friend suggested I try a barber shop, and good riddance to all the salons who charge me $50+ for a "women's haircut" when their men's cuts (read: short hair) are much cheaper. Other than Madison's uncanny ability to know exactly what I want with my vague descriptions, what I love about Constitution Plaza Barber Shop is they charge one flat rate for everyone. My biggest pet peeve is when I have to pay a haircut upcharge for no apparent reason other than identifying as female. It's really convenient now that my husband and I can get our hair cut at the same place, and Madison does as great and as consistent a job on his fine, curly hair as she does with mine. For safety reasons, for now they are requiring people wear masks at all times inside and to stay in your car while you're waiting. They have sanitizing procedures between each appt and hand sanitizer at the door. They do take walk-ins typically but I do recommend booking ahead, especially now. Also they're cash only so make sure you bring extra for tip!

I have had my haircut by everyone there and each gave a fantastic cut. Their clientele is wide ranging and all are capable of cutting any hair style or texture. Conversation is lively and all in good fun. TVs usually have sports or a movie on and if kids are in the shop they'll put on something for them. The decor is tasteful and well appointed. There is a real sense of pride in the shop and you feel like you're somewhere special. Since Covid-19, they have added new chairs and tin ceiling panels as well as rearranged the front desk. Clear signage states to call when you arrive and they'll let you know when you can enter the shop per Covid-19 regulations. While they do take walk-ins I'd highly recommend an appointment for Saturdays. They take phone appointments as well as use Booksy, an app, which is how I book my haircur. I've come to expect a little bit of a wait even with an appointment and factor that into my day. There are two things in life that should have a wait, your doctor and barber. Overall I am thrilled to be their customer. I live almost 30 minutes away and gladly travel to get my haircut cut by the crew at Paulie's.

Staff: very friendly and attentive, hearing stories about how long someone has been coming in. I did ask not to go up on the cheeks do to sensitivity but down and sideways was fine and told him he could go up when under the chin. When I was done he said going sideways was the same as going up so he ONLY went down. I still felt stubble under the chin but like I said, everyone does things differently.
