Disappointed, Yelp advised that the next nearest store was this Vitamin Shoppe on Oxford Valley Road. It was only 10 minutes away, so we drove over to take care of our business. The retail space was clean and well lit. The solitary woman holding the fort this Sunday evening was friendly and had everything under control. She directed us to the location for sleep assistance. There, in the bottom two shelves was their collection of what we needed. It wasn't a huge selection, but enough to make an informed choice. Melatonin was well represented, but I wanted something with a broader spectrum of natural compounds and herbs that worked together and allowed that people react differently to supplements, thus increasing the chance that one or more ingredients would be effective, even if others were not. I found something with both melatonin and valerian root and 7 other natural elements that have shown usefulness relaxing and helping move toward and into sleep. It seems to be working so far. My wife is now sleeping through the night and falling asleep more quickly when ready. Will let you know if that changes.

She isn't kickin' behind the counter anymore, but her name lives on in the store where you can buy organic/ sustainably farmed body/cooking( sometimes they are the same) oils, supplements, gluten free flour, rosewater, shampoo/conditioner, snacks, etc. Some of the items look to be straight Whole Foods Everyday 365 brand. Maybe they have the same supplier or maybe they don't take that "not for individual sale" thing seriously. Either way you can find some of the same things. The price vary. Some oils were less that Whole foods other a dollar or 2 more. It is kind of hit or miss with the prices, but I guess in a sellers' market they can do that. I came for lip balm and the cheapest stick was 2.75. Not too bad, but trader joe's sells 3 tubes for 3.99. Granted it is nice to support good products in an area that competes with the Walmarts of the box store giants. Give it a try, but be selective and knowledgeable as you browse.

I know what you're thinking.... why on earth would someone review a pharmacy? Well, there are 2…read morereasons: 1. I am in class and have never been so bored in my life; 2. have you been to a chain pharmacy lately? Ugh! Moved to Burlington in 2005 and this pharmacy is about a block from my house so I sent my perscriptions there rather than the Walgreens about a mile down the road. Since then I have had nothing but fantastic service... when I had an issue getting a perscription filled (thanks health insurance company) the pharmacist worked diligently toward getting me what I needed and even provided options to hold me over in the meantime. I trust this guy more than I do my doctor... the pharmacist at least knows my name without looking it up on a chart -- not because I have lots of health issues either. It's just how they operate. On the shop end of the house, things are a little more expensive than a chain store but in the spirit of supporting local business I do stop there for most of my unexpected miscellaneous shopping; like when you're all out of TP at an inopportune moment. Besides, they keep my fairly uncomon cigarettes on hand (something Walgreens laughed at me for asking about) just to be sure they have them for me when I need them.
