I've been a member for 6 years and had not been able to visit due to either covid or living in…read moredifferent states. It was so nice to finally make the pilgrimage here. There is some parking off to the side of the house and I was able to get a spot. Make sure that you make reservations on the website prior to coming. You reserve a time slot and pay when you get there. I meandered about before going inside. There's a person sitting just inside the entrance to ask your name and reservation time. It is a darling house with all things Edward Gorey in terms of ephemera. Pictures, books, and bits & bobs. I was hoping to see a cat or two so that was disappointing somewhat. You do only get the first floor as well just to let people know. I did not participate in the docent tour - I just wanted to kind of look and snoop at my own pace. It was very cute and mellow. There was a lot of information and the current type exhibit is amazing (O Sordid Type) - I would recommend that highly. I think if you're a fan, it is worth a visit and they do have a good amount in the gift shop, but nothing appealed to my wallet this go round.

Every time I start to type my review, I get the Simon & Garfunkel song "Richard Corey" in my head…read more Then I realize it's "Cory". Then I realize it has nothing to do with Edward Gorey, the wonderful writer and artist behind the misadventure alphabet (Gashlycrumb Tinies, for reference) and so much more. To go to this house is to realize you've known Edward Gorey this whole time. They have a nice spoken session on the hour - we arrived early, toured the museum, and then my cousin told me he was speaking so I wandered over and listened as the guide explained that Tim Burton and so many others in a similar vein were inspired by Gorey. Here on the Cape, I couldn't ask for a better museum to experience this unique creator and his works. All laid out in his nice casual house for a reasonable price. Do stop by and enjoy. I tried, but brevity does not lend itself to a Yelp review. I can't write like him. I can just encourage you to come be inspired yourself.
