Also front door didn't shut tight when we tried. First line security is questionable. There was also a ruckus at the restaurant kitty corner to inn. Might not have noticed door issue otherwise. Also room wouldn't let me engage deadbolt while in room. Lock malfunction?! Lastly, hubby Couldn't get temp down in room, however we were thankful we could open window and deck door to get comfortable. Suggestions-the one chair provided is really worn. A small desk workspace or side table. Some additional art on walls, one piece leaves place feeling sterile. Robes esp since microwave is in hall. Loved the entry table, stunning piece!! Would love to see a couple of comfortable chairs in front of fireplace downstairs. Also, you can hear everything thru the walls. Keep in mind if it's an adult getaway ;) Also no vouchers for coffee shop or wine tasting room as yelp add stated. Gym is separate business and additional $10 per person, per day.

We were originally going to spend most of our time in Traverse City, so we were disappointed to be 30 minutes out from the city. However, we had such an amazing time exploring Northport, Sutton's Bay, Old Fishtown, and other small cities off of the M-22 loop that we never even ventured to Traverse City! Jane and Jack are the owners of the B&B and are so nice. They did an amazing job making us feel welcomed, but still giving us our space to enjoy one another. The house is a historic building in Northport and the décor is consistent with that. Even though it is an older home, it is well taken care of and updated to accommodate guests. There is a very cool old fireplace out back and they allow guests to sit at the fire in the evening. Jane always had a serving tray filled with ingredients for smores waiting for us. She even had bug spray for us. They also have a mini fridge filled with water and pop for guest to enjoy. Jane is a phenomenal cook and we enjoyed the breakfast she prepared both mornings. She presents it beautifully and gives you plenty. Overall, we were just so pleased with our stay and loved meeting Jane and Jack. I would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast!

It seems to be remnant smell from before when smoking was probably allowed. If that bothers you, reconsider, but it was not a deal breaker for us especially for how clean the rooms were.

This cozy hotel, nestled near Petosky and surrounded by many wineries, is the most fabulous boutique hotel. The outdoor trees are beautifully decorated and it makes you feel like you're in a hallmark movie. As we drove up, and parked we were met by an employee who knew our names and took our bags to our room. Felt like I was in Dubai getting VIP status service again. Our check-in was swift, and we were given a tour of the downstairs which had an amazing bar with a roaring fire, and free snacks and waters. It also had a small gym, and a game room containing a billiards table. Once we finally got to the room we were so shocked. The room was massive and absolutely breath taking. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the sheets were super soft. The highlight was the outdoor patio. We got a room on the first floor. The patio came enclosed with heaters so that you can go out and look out at the lake and not freeze. During Christmas they put a Christmas tree on each patio. Very romantic and festive. Service is, by far, the number one thing about this place. The hotels beauty is obvious, but it only goes so far if the service isn't there. We loved every minute of our stay. The bartender in the evening was the best. We sat there for hours and just chatted. He was very personable, and fun to talk to. We also wanted to use the jacuzzi, so the front desk employee went, and opened it up for us even though it was freezing outside. They also let us stay 20 minutes past the hours of operation without question. There were many more things we didn't do like snow shoeing on the lake, but they offer many things for kids, families, or outdoor enthusiasts. Overall, this was probably one of the best vacations we have had. From the service to Amenities they checked every box. If you are looking for romance, or even a family get away then this place is a must. We also took advantage of the wineries in the area. They are still open in the winter. I wish I would of snapped more photos for all to see, but I was wanted to live in the moment and not technology. This place has won many awards as a top wine hotel in the country. Just make sure you call way in advance for reservations. They book up extremely early. We booked a year in advance.

Everyday we had freshly baked treats that tasted amazing. The room was clean and and safe for our four year-old to play with his trains. It's also located in a scenic spot -- beautiful Omena Bay is right down the hill. The lodge itself is comprised of several historic buildings. When we stay here we prefer a room in the Wheeler House, the main house that's also the inkeepers' residence; the second floor is home to four very nicely appointed guest rooms, each with a private bath. The dining room and sitting rooms are on the first floor; guests can enjoy a crackling wood fire in the fireplace, play the piano or just sit and read in the front rooms. Another house on property also has guest rooms, we believe, while a third house is divided into suites. There's also a game/activity building with its own fireplace and kitchenette. The hosts are friendly and helpful, and are excellent cooks -- we love the breakfasts! They're also very knowledgeable about the area, and about the history of their establishment. We really enjoy them. Omena, between Suttons Bay and Northport, is in the northern section of the Leelanau Peninsula but still makes a good, convenient base camp for exploring the rest of the area. We would definitely recommend Sunset Lodge for couples as well as for groups. After driving down "motel row" in nearby Traverse City, we were even more convinced that mom-and-pop lodging is the way to go up here, and that we have found a real travelers' gem in Sunset Lodge.
