They also do English breakfasts up till midday, with lovely bacon. My favourite regular eating place by far.

They gave me recommendations...and I went with their big bap. I learned bap was the type of bread: soft and fluffy but held all the meats together til the last bite The big bap was cheap and so filling, I couldn't eat the whole sandwich. Came with bacon, sausage, cheese and egg and you can add condiments like mayo, ketchup and something called brown sauce which I didn't get I got take away. They have daily specials for very cheap from what I saw. There's also a small amount of seating inside if you want to dine in... Only con is there's no air conditioning and granted the seating area is near the counter/grill, it gets very warm so I dont think I'd be able to eat in Great for a quick cheap bite

But sometimes, it's worth just going back to basics - a classic fry up, no pretence, good value and a mug of tea. That's all you need, isn't it?! This place does it extremely well and is a good place to go to should you be torn between any of the fanicer establishments nearby. You'll have to travel up Holloway Road for its nearest rival, so it has got a great location. The menu is actually pretty varied, so you can get pretty much anything you fancy, from fry ups, to salads and sandwiches to spaghetti and lasagna. The Piccolo bar is owned by a Portuguese family and they know what they are doing there. They make all sorts of sandwiches and its very small. They were so damn good, well prepared, and filling for the trip. My girlfriend had her first Portuguese coffee and was stunned by how delicious it was. They are very friendly people running the deli and if you run into it in the morning, give it a try. Obrigado Piccolo Bar!

We ordered a smoked salmon sandwich and an egg and bacon sandwich. We also got a big water bottle and a medium size latte. Omg I loveeeee my egg and bacon. The bacon they use has no fat and it's more like a piece of meat than bacon bacon. The cut of the bacon is clean and crispy. I had it on brown bread and he puts some type of brown sauce which i can't tell what's in it. But it tastes fantastic. My husband got a smoked salmon on brown bread as well with some lemon sauce on it. It made the salmon taste so fresh but less of the smoke taste. Between the two sandwiches for breakfast I'll always pick the egg and bacon. Gosh so good!!! Be bare the latte is also yummy but it's hella hot so be careful you don't burn your tongue.

Yes they do stock the Observer to read with your vegan breakfast. But you may have to fight someone called Crispin for the Review section. I will admit that Mess has successfully positioned itself a notch above your average 'egg and chips' van in the comptetive greasy Hackney hangover market. Its just that that notch doesn't seem significantly large enought to warrant queuing for 15 minutes to eat the same old muck. But that'sjust my opinion, and stuff....
