Mill Creek Greenway is over nine miles of paved pathway along Mill Creek. There are five sections of the Mill Creek Greenway, that are not all connected. The earliest mention I could find of Mill Creek is in the newspaper "The Tennessee Gazette" in 1800. The creek itself is over 28 miles, and the only place in the world that is home to a crustacean called the Nashville crayfish, which has been on the endangered species list since 1984. The area is prone to flooding, and has long been a part of Nashville's list of areas to protect. The first section of the Greenway opened in 1998. As we strolled along a mile of the greenway, it was beautiful, and a peaceful respite from the city.

Perhaps I failed to fully explore, but I was not too impressed. For one, it's not to accessible since one entrance is through a subdivision & the other is a tiny road off a dangerous road. It's new & probably still being developed but I could not see the creek from the trail & wasn't too scenic. On the plus side, it's got a rather lengthy trail.

This museum is pretty cool. I came on a second grade field trip, and have burning memories of us…read morekids lining up to milk a cow, and my chickening out. So upon walking in, I immediately told the woman behind the counter, "I was here in 1997, and I passed up the opportunity to milk a cow. Can you help me?" And she just laughed and told me there had been a lot of changes. The cow milking and butter churning hands on activities of the past are gone, but in its place is a gorgeous museum with amazing artifacts. It works hard to tell a linear story of the importance of agriculture in Tennessee. There's definitely a lack of identifying signage in many of the display cases, which is an oversight I'll forgive since I'd imagine most of their audience is schoolchildren that are given a formal tour. I didn't explore much of the grounds- besides a stadium used for training police horses that I definitely wasn't supposed to go in, that I peeked in after vague memories of watching some weaving display in concrete stadium seats as a kid. I will be back to view more of the grounds in warmer weather.

The Center has a an iris garden with beautiful gazebo and several walking trails! We were exploring a bit on the grounds on Tuesday, and it was lightly used by people from the neighborhood, but not crowded. Definitely a great place for a picnic, a walk, or to run around with a pup! (And great for pictures!) Try it out!
