The lake was surrounded mostly by steep cliffs. I couldn't tell you how water flows in or out of it. Some trails lead up the cliffs, which gets you some semi-obstructed views of the lake and the military cemetery nearby. It was not a huge park, but it's free and a pleasant place to walk.

The plaza it sits directly behind houses McAlisters, Moe's, Burger Up, PF Changs and more. The main entrance is located on Aspen Grove even though the address shows Cool Springs Boulevard. When you pull in, you pull into a small parking lot, a brick building that houses the restrooms to the left, start of the trails to the right and then a nice brick pavilion that houses several picnic and patio tables, a fireplace/grill and a little free library station. Just beyond the pavilion is a grassy area and playground. The park has one main trail with four off shoots creating 5 paved trails each ranging from .10/mile to .60 mile. If you make a few laps you can make a nice distance out of it. Most of the trails end and start in the park area, however one ends/starts near Core Life eatery. All the paths are paved and 90% of the trails are covered in foliage. The trails also feature a few cool bridges that cross the creek, and there are a few grill/picnic areas along the trails as well. I have driven by this park for years now, and honestly am surprised at the space and trails. I am impressed with the simple layout, covered trails, cute creek and the calm that it brings, even in the middle of retail and office suites!

They have a bird garden, greenhouse, pond and flower garden. The creek is so serene. They just reopened after the ice storm and they did such a wonderful job clearing all the trails. It feels so safe. Now that it's getting warmer daffodils are popping up along the trails. Can't wait to see all the trees fill in this spring :)

Its a lovely park, and they have Daffodils everywhere in March! A lot of people will bike here or run and there's always people walking their dogs. There's plenty of parking, but most of it is grass for the overflow lot. They also have a little play area for small children (no swings or slides). Why are there so few reviews of this greenway? Probably because there are two unconnected segments…read more One is northwest near I-40 and mostly within Bellevue Park, pinned in the Yelp map. The other is a much longer segment that starts in Edwin Warner Park near Ensworth School and continues along the Harpeth River until a dead end in a field just across train tracks from Bellevue Park and 2,000 feet short of the other segment. I recommend the much longer segment for most uses. The best places to park are within Edwin Warner Park off Highway 100 or in a dedicated parking lot near Edwin Warner Park Picnic Shelters 9 and 11, off Vaughn Road. The trail is long and on a beautiful Saturday, I it to be unexpectedly empty. Most of the trail is flat except a big hill along Morton Mill Road on the north end of the greenway. There is a mix of fields and new growth woods along most of the greenway, which is almost entirely in the Harpeth River's floodplain. Because it sits in the floodplain and is between fields and the river bank, there were many places where the paved path was covered by mud. There are scenic bridges over the Harpeth and a few overlooks, especially north of Highway 100. Some bridges are narrow enough that I had to stop my bike to wait for people to cross. Compared to other greenways in the area, there were few facilities - portable toilets in Edwin Warner Park and water stations at a couple of the trailheads. Benches are scarce except one in the middle and a few with some loose or missing planks on the overlooks near the northern end.

William Whitfield Parks was founded in 1978, and has over 13 acres of land. It underwent a $200,000…read morerenovation in 2003. It has three baseball diamonds, a batting cage, a playground, and a football/multipurpose field. It also is nestled up against a creek. It also is the home to the trailhead for the Seven Mile Creek Greenway. We went about half a mile down the greenway, and were discouraged and turned around. Between the untamed brush, cell phone towers, and attractive views of the road, it wasn't terribly inspiring. That's not to discount the entire trail, as I'm sure there are great spots in the other six and a half miles. I would be remiss if I didn't mention William Drew Whitfield (1931-1976), who lived on Woodett Road. Although professionally an engineer for Honeywell, the last fifteen years of his life were dedicated to volunteering for youth sports, notably the Volunteer Dixie Youth Baseball League and the Boy Scouts. This park was the first park built in this area, and it's emphasis on baseball seems a fitting tribute to the memory of the park's namesake.

Hidden in plain sight just a few blocks off of Franklin Road in Brentwood, Maryland Way Park is a…read moresmall, simple space that offers a .3-mile paved walking path, a few metal workout/activity stations, benches, and a pergola with a picnic table...plus metal horse sculptures and a time capsule buried on the grounds that cannot be opened until 2046! The park is clean and well maintained. A good portion of the green space is designed to let water runoff from the main road travel through, so there are lots of gullies and indentions in a good portion of the green areas. There is still a decent area that allows for grass play without issue. There are no public facilities or dedicated parking. You have to find parking in one of the nearby business lots. Overall, it is a no-frills public space with an interesting history, that happens to be wedged between businesses, hotels and a Whataburger. Solid 3.5 for a public space and a spot to enjoy a leisurely walk close to all the action of Brentwood.

On a sunny weekend afternoon, we nearly had the park for ourselves and the traffic on adjacent Maryland Way is not too noticeable thanks to the topography of the park. (Although there wasn't much traffic since it was a Sunday. Traffic noise might be more noticeable during a busy weekday.) Given the amount of wealth coursing through Brentwood, I think the city (or perhaps some private sponsors) could spruce up the park a little. Many of the exercise stations have faded signs/instructions or seem to have pieces missing. And it might be nice if there were a picnic table or two in addition to the two benches. My biggest gripe is probably the fact that there is no obvious place to park. We parked in an unmarked lot that was nearby the park, but there was no connecting pathway to the park itself. It wasn't a big deal for us to scramble up and down a couple of short grassy hillsides, but I can imagine it being an issue for some other folks. I did like the interpretive sign explaining the history of the Maryland Farms area, which was apparently a 400-acre horse farm until the 1970s!
