Arrivals deplane on the tarmac and are shuttled in to the terminal (sure am glad we were having good weather!). Once inside they are very friendly and efficient. They direct you where to go and are very willing to answer questions. Baggage claim was a little crowded but I've seen others as bad. There are two airports in Milan. LIN is smaller, but closer to the city center. We had to wait about an hour for our luggage that ended up on the next incoming flight. There wasn't much to do or see on the ground floor. Departing from Milan, we took a bus from the central railway station to the airport- convenient. It didn't take too long to get check in our bags and get through security. The Leonardo Exclusive Lounge was meh. We ate at the Michelangelo restaurant, and it was not great either. When it was time, we were bussed from our gate to our plane. read more

I took an epic trip to Italy for my buddy's wedding and a vacation and I flew in through Milan. Milan has two major airports, including this one. Both flying through and out of Milano Linate was fine. The lines to get through security weren't terribly long, the traffic to get in wasn't terribly bad, and I got through the airport in good time. These are the main things I care about when going to an airport. Other than that, if I have some time to kill, I appreciate some good dining options. Leaving Milan, I had a morning flight, so I went to a breakfast spot and got a bagel. The restaurant was similar to a lot of cafes in Italy where they have various pastries, sandwiches, and coffee for sale. There's typically a line but it goes by fast. Just as it did here. While busy, I found a table and the airport has free WiFi. Everything I needed. read more

Nice little international airport in Milan, Italy. Instead of flying out of MXP which is further away, decided to fly out of LIN. Pretty easy to navigate through the airport. Security at 5:30 am on a Sunday morning was fast, just one person in front of me. Checking in my luggage was quick, and I was able to get on an earlier flight to Rome instead of the 8 am flight, was asked if I wanted to take the 6:30 am. Plenty of open shops and breakfast options. Nice to know if the men's restroom is full before walking in. Just wish the smoking area was much further away from the entrance to the airport. read more

If you need to travel internationally out of Milan, Linate is great. A lot of the facilities are clean and new (like the bathroom for example), it's relatively small and easy to navigate, and of course easy to get to from the city. My favorite part about leaving Italy is the fact that security is so efficient and not cumbersome at all. We can leave liquids and electronics in our bags without issue?? The public transportation (Metro) system that takes people to the Linate airport is excellent. This review is not a reflection on that! This is an indictment of the Air France staff at Milano Linate airport and the Linate airport staff, as well. We arrived at the airport more than two hours before our flight (and I mean we were in line for the Air France counter agents with more than two hours to spare, not that we were just arriving at the airport then). Air France had two agents working the Priority desks and ONE - just one agent - helping the 100+ passengers in line. There were never more than 5-10 Priority passengers in that line at any time. Honestly, if the agents worked at the speed of agents at ANY OTHER AIRPORT ON EARTH, they could have processed the Priority passengers and then helped the rabble in the regular line. But they are S - L - O - W. If I could emphasize that more, I would. It was Godawful. My family and I were okay because we arrived so early, but a lot of passengers were freaking out that they might miss their flight. Eventually a second desk agent sauntered in (with no alacrity whatsoever) to open a second counter for regular passengers. Much, much, much later, a third agent appeared. The minutes ticked down, the line moved slowly, the Priority agents didn't pitch in, and it was chaos. The line of regular passengers grew ever longer. A manager of sorts showed up and appeared to direct passengers to desks that s-l-o-w-l-y checked in passengers. We overhead her chiding passengers that they should have arrived earlier, which was outrageous since many passengers DID arrive in a timely manner. Their feckless staff was responsible for the problems. After more than an hour in line, we got our boarding passes and flew through the security lines. At the gate, we queued up in line when our zone was called. It was - again - a very long line. Then a ridiculous little man wearing a security uniform inexplicably told passengers that they didn't have to stand in the line. They could just cut the line and crowd the desk where agents were scanning boarding passes. Again, chaos ensued. What was accomplished? Nothing. He just made a lot of people in line really mad. And here's a final complaint against Air France. Somehow their crew managed to break every darned zipper on our bags. Is a little care really so difficult to manage? read more

It's an international airport and Alitalia's second largest hub, Linate is soon to be very convenient for accessing Milan as they complete the train connection in the next while. It's definitely closer than Malpensa that is a full hour away from downtown. Free wifi, rental cars and buses, quick access. I liked this airport. The quick version. It's not that big an airport. There are some small shops, some small cafes. Enough toilets. The agents at the ita counter were fairly helpful. You will very likely have to take a shuttle bus to get to your plane. Signs are in English and Italian. Overall just an average airport. Nothing too special but it's good because it's close to Milan central compared to mxp. Our flight was on time. So that's about it. Not bad but not super exciting. read more

Relatively old airport. Getting my bag at the luggage carrousel was simple but walking out the security pulled me aside and asked me how much cash I had and how long I was going to be there. Why is that necessary when we all went through passport control already?!--not a very welcoming experience. The hotel shuttle to pick me up was at the departure level and what a hassle trying to find a way to go up to that level! Hardly and elevators and I didn't see any escalators. Welll!!! It's not bad! It's a ok. It's quite small. Depending on the terminal, it's quite small. I flew into terminal 1, which has so many amazing food options. Flew out of terminal 2, which doesn't have much. After going through the security and all that, you have a few shops. I flew to Dublin from here last month. Technically, it's to a different county. But it's Europe. The Burberry store outside was small and sweet. Got my super fast bag to go from here before getting into my gate: which has another passport control check point! My only complaint is: there should be a sign! Once you go through this many gates, there's no return. Perche? Ti no paichi cafe! There's a tiny cafe inside for 3-4 gates. Tiny! Limited food! Usual Italian train stations/ airport food: but much smaller. The caprese wraps were delish though. But unlike the other airport coffee shops, you can't stand and drink your espresso. No room! I stood in line, got espresso.. drank back in like for another! Overall, it's but and it's small! Not bad! Depends on the terminal! read more

Nice small airport but people are not most friendliest here. I was flying in and out from this airport and had multiple interactions with several women that are just were rude for no reason. I didn't even ask their help they treat me that I did something wrong on fastTrack. Also do not I repeat DO NOT change money there. Lady at the exchange was extremely rude and their currency exchange from $100 is 61 euro. And when I told her this is ridiculous she ask me how much I want. What currency exchange is that? When you been asked how much you want to get. I said at least 80 ( I needed cash for bus) But she laughed at me. I said I am native european (she thought I am American) and I know how much usd to eur now its almost 1:1. luckily I wasn't stupid to exchange at this rate. So don't get into this trap, also I discovered that you can pay for bus with card. Its very simple at it goes to city centre! read more

From my experience, the airport couldn't be much better for an arrival. A short shuttle ride from the plane to terminal, quick passport check, bag arrived within minutes at baggage claim, quick exit to taxis/shuttles/car. In the waiting area after baggage claim where the rental car offices and currency exchange, it has several decent/nice quick cafes. It has a handful of car rentals: Avis, Hertz, SixT, Europcar, etc. Don't assume Milan has 1 airport like I did: ================================= This is considered the small second airport behind Malpensa. It's about 10 km away from the center of Milan. This caused me anguish because the car rental (at no fault of the airport itself) took 1 hr 45 mins to get, and the hotel I booked was airport close...but from Malpensa, not Linate. read more

I'm surprised with the low rating here. This is a great little airport for my quick stop from Paris to Milan with only an hour and 20 minute flight just like our LA to SF kinda short trip except you will need a passport to hop from France to Italy. This is an airport similar to our Long Beach airport or our Burbank airport. It's small but convenient and easy to get in and get out kinda airport without the nasty congestion. I have visited many airports, large and small. Usually I find the smaller airports much easier to manage. Maybe this is because I NEVER check bags. If you do then you asking for trouble wherever you go. I had just flown in from the chaos of LDA Rome on and was wonderfully relieved to find simplicity and convenience. In the past two visits to Milano, I flew in and out of Linate as I was already in EU. Linate is closer to the city centre, about 30 mins drive, make it convenient when visiting the city. Malpensa has direct international flights but much farther. Linate is a very small airport, easy to get in and out. Check in luggage seemed to come out fairly quick, they have plenty of taxi waiting outside. Departure is easy, security line was never that long when I visited, easy to find a gate I needed to go. I did manage to get lost trying to find an airline lounge. Sign wasn't that clear and wondered around for a while. They have plenty of shops and restaurants available, if you are already in EU, good airport to consider for its proximity to the city centre. read more

The linate airport is much closer to Milan saving you time and cab fare in reaching the city. It is smaller and we reached it via our connecting flight from Amsterdam. Like many European airport it seems you e got to run the gauntlet of retail both arriving and especially departing. I expected something more akin to a regional airport in the US but this place was plenty busy especially when we left on a Monday morning. The airport was large enough to have loyalty clubs which was also unexpected. Rental car desks were very quiet when we arrived so I'm sure we saved a ton of time by our choice of airports and the flights were even a bit cheaper (on the day I booked) than the much larger Malpensa. read more

Love that this airport isn't that busy and welcoming. It does need some updates as it is kind of dated so a fresh coat of paint or some beer like newer baggage claim equipment or nicer restaurants, this place can be considered the go to airport in Milan read more

Very inefficient airport. There was no self-check in machines for major airlines. Some airlines had no receptionists. How can people check in if they don't have smartphones? Only good thins is there are some coffee bars open early in the morning. read more

The bag check process at this airport is terrible! The desk where you drop the bag cannot accept payment, so you have to go all the way to a different desk to pay and then come back. But be careful! The two desks quote different prices! Horribly corrupt and inefficient. read more

Great airport to fly out of and into ! I prefer it much more than Malpensa . Check in process is quick and they are pretty efficient . Airport workers seem a bit overworked and tired but I don't expect them to be smiling and cheery. Overall I'd say this airport is pretty clean but they could be even more clean in the general area . One of the reasons this airport is also nice is because it has many places to pass the time if you are here to early . Very small airport located near city center. Security check in about 20 minutes. Sent all my liquids through in backpack. No one said anything or stopped me. Doesn't make me feel safe. Hotel was about 15 minutes away in traffic. No problems getting around. Duty-free booze was much cheaper here than Ireland. The airport is fine but the people that works there are really horrible and sloth like. They takes forever to stamp your refund as well as getting the refund back. Also, all refunds are either in pounds or dollar, not euro. Why? I paid in euros so I should get back in euros. If there's a long line you're more likely to miss your flight for sure because they are super slow. Customs: A guy that works there that looks like he hates his life hardly spoken any english. Matter of fact, people that works at this airport doesn't speak english at all. You pretty much have to get your bag tagged first at the ticket counter before customs are able to stamp your refund, and then go back and drop your luggage off to get it checked. I'm not sure why they do this because that is just a waste of time. Security check point was ok, but the employees gives you so much attitudes and so much false pride. This was my first time in Italy and I never knew Italians are such prideful and super unfriendly people. To make long story short, only fly in and out of this airport if you don't have tax refund and don't mind non-english speaking employees with big attitude and prideful. From Paris we flew into Milano Linate, this is simple small airport. Everything is laid out pretty clear on where to go, we headed off to baggage claim then made our way out, there was one man working the customs table with a sign asking if we anyone had anything to declare, I just said I have about 40 euros of macaroons with me, he said oh that's no problem, have fun in Italy, no stamp saying I entered the country. Haha that's half the fun of having a passport, collecting the stamps! Got our luggage and made our way to the buses to take us to Central Station, each bus station is clearly marked, found our bus just sitting there waiting, I was supposed to see it was a coach bus and not a city bus, paid 6 euros and placed my bags in the luggage area and got on the bus and made our way to Milan. This is a smaller airport and it is the closed to central Milan, the other airport I heard is pretty far out. Glad our entry into Milan was simple and easy. read more

Milan has two major airports. While you probably won't board a flight at Linate (LIN) to go to the U.S. or Canada, you could definitely board a flight within Europe, to places such as London, Paris, and Frankfurt, though this is sort of thought as Milan's domestic airport for flights within Italy. I would venture to say that the bulk of the flights are to and from other Italian airports. Milan Linate is very close to the city. It's not particularly big, and it could use updating. Mostly, I like that you can go to Milano Centrale, the city's main train station, and catch a quick and inexpensive bus to Linate Airport. As you fly out of Linate, you can look out and see that it's immediately adjacent to Milan, and not in the countryside. The funny thing is that I didn't use Linate to travel within Italy. I used it for boarding the first segment of an international flight to the States connecting in Copenhagen and operated with medium-sized Scandinavian Airlines aircraft. Linate Airport is squarely a 3 star event. read more

This is the closest airport to Milan downtown, but consider it isn't wheel-chair accessible and if you're a backpacker flying with Alitalia flying from here for the first time you'll probably need 10 more minutes to check-in. Alitalia desks spot the whole departures area depending on the destination and if you have a backpack to drop off, after luggage check-in you'll have to bring it to the bulky luggage desk close to... Lufthansa's desks. Cleaning service is run by people who simply don't care much about: at 7 am you may not find toilet paper and soap, and you may hear from them there are robbers among them! I ain't been to malpensa airport but everyone tells me that Linate is better so on a recent Trip to Milan I made sure I travelled through the latter. The best things about it seem to be two key points. Firstly its location as it's much closer to the centre of Milan than malpensa and therefore it means it's much easier to get to and from the airport. The second is it seems quite small so you get through security and to your gate pretty quickly. (Security hardly even noticed/interested in the people going through, very different to experiences at some other airports) The negative points of the place are that the facilities are very very minimal. You really would not want to stay here very long as food and shopping options are pretty basic. The small city airport in Milan is sort of a mixed experience. The good thing is the location and that it is fairly quick and easy to get through security (at least if being able to use the fast track). They are usually not at all interested in you removing liquids or laptop from the bag when going through security so that also speeds things up. The facilities at the airport are pretty poor and as often is the case in Italy it is run-down and organization is poor or non-existent. There is the standard selection of small cafes and restaurants offering over-priced foods. I usually try to use the lounge, it is pretty decent (apart from the staff being rude) and has some snacks and comfortable seats. There are also a number of shops selling mainly designer bags and clothes, prices are neither better nor worse than in the city so if you have some time to kill it may be worth having a look around. The airport has a major issue with lack of proper gates so it is common with being forced to take a bus both when disembarking or when boarding which of course is annoying as it takes extra time. Staff at the airport seem to dislike working there as they are often rude and/or disinterested in doing their job. I still frequent the airport since it is a better location for me than Malpensa (the other, big, airport in Milan) and Malpensa largely has the same issues as Linate (except for the gates) so not really a big difference. Still it is not an awful airport and I try to minimize the time I spend there. read more

Mother of God I love my people but when it comes to air ports.. urgh it's just not their thing. I fly to Italy twice a year to visit my family in Sicily, usually once right after Christmas and once for ferragosto in August, and I will admit those are peak times for travel over there but what happen to me here their was no excuse. Granted I came to this airport already pissy because I spent 2 1/2 hours on a tarmac at Charles de Gaulle in Paris (another shit show) had to run to our gate in Milan because we needed to make our connection to Palermo. Got to the gate to see the flight was delayed 30 minutes. That's totes fine with me, time for me to catch my breath but also keep in mind that this airport is very small not like Fiumicino (where I usually fly out of) in Rome so the seating is very limited and I had to sit on the floor with all my bags. When it was finally time to board the plane I had to get on the bus and board on the tarmac (very common pain in my ass here and the reasons they do that are very stupid I won't even get into that) so ok fine but again keep in mind it's 30 degrees Fahrenheit outside. First the bus driver took us to one plane but he does not open the doors and parked for 15 minutes. Then he turns around and goes back to the terminal where we started, the driver comes out and yells at us to get off the bus, while that is happening someone comes out and yells at us to get back on the bus. I know, a joke right? So we get back in the bus with all our shit to have the driver take us to another plane and sit parked for awhile before he decides to take us back to the original plane we first were parked at. Look I've been traveling back-and-forth to Italy my whole life, I know this review isn't going to change anything because these people don't give a shit, they care more about their coffee break than me making my flight BUT I feel travelers, Americans especially should know these are common things that CAN and often DO happen here unfortunately. I gave them two stars because they managed to get my bags on the right fucking plane and that amazed the hell out of me (Btw getting you bags the same time you get to Italy is less than a 50/50 chance) read more
