Did not show to one of my phone call appointments and I called to check if they were running late and told me she would call soon. Never did. Also told me to do physical therapy for the rest of my life instead of trying to help/find better quality of life for me. Did not effectively communicate with me about what she believe is going on. No stars. All Dr. Milan did for me was keep me on an anticonvulsant (used to treat my hemiplegic migraines. For those of you who don't know they come with stroke like symptoms, and complete paralysis. It's awful. One day I was set for ecg I believe that's the brain wave activity modality (correct me if I'm wrong) well I arrived early and needed you use the bathroom as I would be sleeping 4 hours. I am on topamax (it's a diuretic) she knew that. She refused to allow me to use the restroom. She also had me repeat drugs which gave me serotonin syndrome which I had already tried. She could have just requested an roi from my previous Dr. she is generally nice, she had zero empty for my pain. I was taking ibuprofen sometimes 5 days a week 8 hundreds, to stop chains of migraines. I used to be able to get a shot of fentanyl or Demerol intramuscular. Which would immediately stop the pain and stop the chain of migraine. Let's be clear, you don't feel euphoric, you don't get high. When injected intramuscular it absorbed fast and differently. I have never once even felt groggy, I had been doing that since 12, she did absolutely nothing for my migraine pain, and to me that's bureaucratic, and sad that she would have me suffer. I have a long and extensive history. I was prescribed heavy duty pain meds when I was 12, never took them still don't take any pain killers, but to acutely address a chain migraine, she should have had more compassion and skill. Instead, Dr.'s most and any of them, just avoid your pain and tell you, you have to live with it. read more

The staff scheduled my 80 year old Parkinson's mother for an appointment and when we arrived three weeks later, they said there was no appointment and that Patel was out of the office. Should have had a clue when my mother's internist advised us to go with another doctor even before we met Dt Patel. Very sketchy. read more

I had been a patient here for almost 2 years. In that time, I have had maybe 5 appointments and 3 times have been called and canceled. She does not have later appointments, nor is the office open on Mondays, so it is very difficult to get an appointment given such limited hours. These cancelations push back being seen as much as a month and seem to show she has better things to do than see patients (this happened on Friday, early afternoon appointments). I am seeking a new doctor. It is hard enough needing a neurologist, but the cancelations are just too much. I get better service at a nail salon. read more

I am very disappointed and a bit disturbed by my treatment by Dr. Patel. Although she and her assistants were kind, I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel in both hands, when I complained of neck and shoulder pain, in addition to numbness and pain in my hands and fingers. It ends up I have cervical radiculopathy which also has symptoms of numbness, pain & tingling in arms and hands but comes from nerves in the neck. I did get a neck MRI which showed "normal degenerative" discs,( but in a middle aged person, this is all it takes to compress nerves!!!) She did not find the MRI significant and when she did the nerve testing, it did not show in my neck, so my neck and shoulder complaints were tossed to the side. She had no recommendation to further explore the pain coming from my neck and shoulders. Her explanation was that carpal tunnel pain can reverse up to the neck. I knew my pain and numbness was coming FROM my neck all along. She said after PT if I was still experiencing symptoms, we would start with surgery on one wrist and see how I do before deciding on the other. Well, I don't need surgery on my wrists because that is not the problem!! How scary!!! Always follow your instincts and don't ever assume Dr.s are right (or their fancy machines). In this case, she was wrong and thank Goodness I did not agree to surgery! I would recommend finding someone else, and always getting a 2nd opinion. read more

My husband is a patient of Dr. Patel's for Parkinson's Disease. I heard that Stanford had Pacemakers for people with Parkinson's. I called Dr. Patel's office over two weeks ago to get a referral and clinical notes sent to Stanford. They requested that before we could have an appt. Nothing happened..I called two more times. You can't talk to a real person. Everything is recorded. I called Stanford to see what was happening. They told me that they sent two requests for the information to no avail. I called this office again last Friday and asked to be called back and to send the necessary paperwork to Stanford so we could get this going. Nothing happened. I have never ever had this happen before. Totally schlocky office help. Obviously, totally uncaring about their patients. And this is a doctor's office?????? read more

Went in today for my appointment I have had for over a month.... The doctor was on vacation! Really?!? Vacation. I made an appointment, it's in my phone and I have the doctor slip too. Talk about professionalism, scheduling appointments when your on vacation or not canceling them. I had to drive in sequel traffic up HWY 1 in rush hour traffic, for nothing. Plus she has pore bedside manors. I fear needles and per my new diagnosis I need to inject myself. She broke the news of this before I could ask my medical questions... Dr. Patel is a very caring and patient doctor. I have been helped greatly by her with my terrible migraines, since childhood, in the last 3+ years. I have always felt she listened to my questions and helped me to understand the process. The front office staff, especially, Anelli, has helped me so much with health insurance denials and difficulties with specialty care pharmacies.. My wait is never long. My life is better, much better and I'm grateful. read more

Her office staff has been very helpful in making sure I get the approvals I need for testing, and always calls me back with the answers I need. In June 2016 was referred to Dr. Patel due to brief episodes of paralysis, along with feeling like I was going to black out when I would lean my head back, accompanied by nerve burning in my neck, with weakness in my hands. I was seeking an MRI of my cervical neck due to these symptom's, already aware of three ruptured cervical discs damaged during a prior assault by a local serial batterer. During his attack my left hip/lower back, & right shoulder were also torn up, along with my neck - making it almost impossible to lay down or sleep without pain. With this information, without any exam, Patel proclaimed her "suspicions" to me. Patel suspected my lack of sleep was sleep apnea and the other issue was clogged arteries. (Really! She actually said this to my face!) Accordingly she was ordering tests for these issues. She "didn't think I needed an MRI & she was opposed to the unneeded radiation". But she "ordered an MRI anyway". I responded by saying I was not comfortable with "suspicions" that I found investigation worked better that one's beliefs. I said good day to her and left the office knowing her suspicions were wildly incompetent. Although Patel claims to be a neurologist I am wondering how she achieved this, since her diagnosis of me was based on some sort of unscientific & highly personal criteria. After my scary encounter with Patel I saw a 'real' doctor. Dr. Niki Joy told me that it appeared I had "a textbook case foraminal narrowing". (This was the acupuncturist told me - before I saw Dr. Patel.) Dr. Joy ordered a CT scan with dye which verified his diagnosis. I have foraminal narrowing in the right side of three cervical discs. So, I suggest you find another neurologist who uses science instead of their unconscious bias's. read more

Never EVR have I had a worse experience with a Doctor. They don't answer their phones, their is no answering machine,the front desk help is NO HELP and seems to be confused and lacking in knowledge about the services offered. I asked for my 2 page medical record (as I never went back) and the front desk just gave them to me. No HEPA or authorization for release was signed. I could have been anybody. Doctor Patel was of no help for my chronic migraines. Her advice to me was to stop taking my medications!!!!!! Sumatriptan has been a life saver for for me since 1994. It often keeps me from making trips to the hospital. I had to drive to sequel go knock on their door to make an appointment AND again to get my medical records. Once during office hours the door was locked and no one answered. NEVER EVER EVER Have I had a worse patient/Doctor experience. Don't go their. read more

Dr. Patel has been wonderful in the care of my father with dementia. She was compassionate and professional and thoughtful in her care and diagnosis, especially in a difficult family situation like this. We went to see her as a second Neurology opinion and are so glad we did. read more

My experience with Dr. Patel was bad from start to finish. She has an awful office staff (one person as far as I can tell), they do not return phone calls, do not do what you request (change appt from Quest Diagnostics from Santa Cruz to Watsonville, where I live) and basically are rude and unhelpful. When I did see the dr. she read my brain scan in the office while me and my daughter and a student waited instead of having read it beforehand and telling us the results. This was a brain scan to see if there was anything wrong with my brain such as cancer (as the cardiologist had suggested). Her services seemed adequate when you saw her but having had no experience with neurologists I have no way to make a comparison. I won't be seeing her again. read more

When I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke two years ago, Dr Patel was called in on my case. She followed my care at PCM convalescent hospital / therapy. She has been a large part of my care ever since. When having seizures at night she has been available via pager, adjusting my medications. I appreciate her manner, always seeing me when I need to be seen and always having time to treat me as a human being, not just another case number. read more
