So you go in and choose what you'd like to paint. Huge variety of figurines, plates, mugs, cups, piggy banks, ornaments, etc. The employee shows you what the paint will look like before and what it'll end up looking like for your final product. There's a wall of colors showing what the finished color looks like, corresponding to the number of the paint bottle. The kids loved that. It made it very easy for them. So we painted, and the process took about an hour and a half or so - the kids took their time. To get strong colors it was suggested that we paint at least three coats! So what we did is considered undergloss- the products still have to be fired up in the kiln and then glossed. She quoted that we can come back in exactly a week. I can't wait to see the finished product.

There are many shops/restaurants around, and I have been to their spa. I tried to stay at the hotel for a weekend when I was coming into Lafayette again, and the communication is absolutely horrible. I called 4 or 5 times--left messages with no call back, and once I finally did get in touch with someone they said hello and hung up on me. I went to book online also and their site kept giving me glitches. 4 stars for the area, but really only 1 star star for the communication. Don't know if it is better service once you actually are able to book a room.

With my profession taking me to Lafayette for a couple weeks in mid-October, this park popped up on YELP where I stopped a few times during the weeks. You do have to pay for parking here but you can also park for free off of Oakleaf Drive and take the neighborhood path (bear to your left) all the way to the hill known as Orlando Mountain that leads into the park. That's the path that I took which led me to the large hill that had me thinking the whole "I'M THE KING OF THE WORLD!" like Leo from Titanic. When the weather is beautiful and it's the mid-late afternoon, you get gorgeous views of your surroundings. This includes the lovely pond, the trimmed trees, and the memorial for veterans which contains a sextet of plaques and some flags drapped high. I also give props to the citizens of this area for keeping the park clean and well-maintained. I'd come here every day if I was a resident here!

. I'm very familiar…read morewith this State Historic "Site". It is the southern 2/3 of the Park(s) on the original Charles Olivier Plantation. I live very near and visit often, several times weekly. The "historic" parts are real and well-maintained, including restored buildings. Not much goes on here, but it is great for bike rides or walks. Sadly, the little bridge over Bayou "Bud", which bisects this section of the Park, has been condemned as unsafe for autos. This inhibits access to the Bayou-front and the best picnic areas. Park management is always on-site and is friendly & helpful. Don't expect much excitement here. Great spotless restrooms are in the main office building ! Rick .
