Ivette did a wonderful job for my daughter's prom…read more I booked her for my wedding and she had set up her arrival at my house at 6:45AM because I have to be at the wedding venue by 9AM - wedding is at 10AM. Unfortunately, I had to wake her up that day. She arrived around past 7:30AM vs the expected 6:45AM. To me, it was fine, as long as I can be done by 8:30AM to make it at the venue by 9AM. I repeatedly asked if she would be able to finish at that time and I was assured yes, she can. She finished with me at 9AM. I arrived at the venue at 9:30AM. I had missed half an hour of photos with my photographer. A lot of details were not photographed - my hard work and expenses for the ring, gown were put to waste because they weren't photographed since I was 30 mins late. I was photographed while actually getting dressed because that was the only chance the photographer can take a photo of me. Ladies, if you had a wedding, I guess you could imagine how limited a 20 min photo shoot is. I just felt like crying. It felt like it has ruined my wedding day because that was the start. Ivette took my payment without even offering any compensation for her being late. If it was a party that I was going to, I wouldn't mind being late. The sad part is that it was my wedding. Just very unfortunate to happen to anyone.

‼AVOID AT ALL COST‼…read more I had the worst experience with Chi, a so-called hair braider and loctician, and I strongly advise everyone to avoid her at all costs. I initially gave her a $100 deposit, which she told me would count toward the service, only to later claim it wouldn't. I needed my extensions reinstalled, and she quoted me an outrageous $1,400. Since I didn't have time to find another stylist last minute, I agreed, assuming the deposit would be deducted. She then changed the terms, saying it wasn't counted anymore. So the price went up to $1500‼ She was unprofessional from the start--arriving late, constantly leaving in the middle of removing my extensions to chat with colleagues about her personal issues, and taking four hours (with my help!) to remove them. She then washed my hair with cheap, stinky shampoo, and when I pointed it out, she had to borrow a better one from a colleague. I even had to wash my own hair while she was chatting with someone else's clients. The worst part? She refused to complete my service because I didn't want her to post pictures of me online. I am a private person and don't even use Instagram, yet she insisted it was her "rule" (which she never told me in advance). When I told her I don't want to be posted anywhere, she simply refused to finish my hair. At that point, I had already paid her $830 (she tried to demand full payment upfront, which I refused). I asked for a partial refund since she only removed my extensions--a service that costs around $200, as confirmed by another stylist who later fully reinstalled my hair for just $400. Chi refused, started screaming, crying, lying, and behaving like a child. It was absolutely unprofessional. I had to call the police, waited until midnight, and they advised me to take her to small claims court, which I absolutely will. She scammed me--$830 for nothing but hair removal. On top of that, she insulted me multiple times and continued sending unpleasant messages after I left. This was, without a doubt, the worst hair experience of my life. Do NOT trust this woman. I highly recommend finding a professional, ethical stylist instead.

I do wear my hair curly 99% of the time, but after seeing so many videos about how smooth and healthy looking hair can look after a silk press, I had to try it. Mecai was amazing! I was less than excited to start my hair stylist search, yet again, and in a new state and new climate. I have natural kinky-curly hair that i usually wear in it's natural state, so I don't go to salons often. When I go to salons i usually go for a blowout/press and a trim. That being said, I am VERY cautious about who I let touch my hair! I went out on a limb after reading some Yelp reviews and I decided to give Mecai a shot. Although I will say that her methods did not start out quite the way I am used to (she brushed my hair A LOT while it was still in it's natural state.) SHE DID A REALLY NICE JOB! My hair came out sleek but still light and flowy. She made sure to use the flat iron in a way that still gave my hair volume but no frizz. The products she used were so light that my hair was blowing in the wind like a commercial when I stepped outside. When it came to the trim, she first told me how much she wanted to cut and ASKED me if that was ok, BEFORE, she started. I appreciated that since some people can be sensitive about length and are afraid of having too much cut off. When I left the salon I went to meet up with a friend who instantly complimented the layers in my hair and before even commenting on the straightness she said the cut looked great! Best of all it's lasting pretty well. It's been about 6 days and my hair is still perfectly straight and virtually no frizz. If you are looking for someone to temporarily straighten your natural hair, you should definitely give her a try. SIDENOTE/DISCLAIMER/KUDOS: Once she was finished she DID actually reference (without prompting) all of the brushing she had done and said that she was trying to get familiar with my texture and see which methods would work best. So thumbs up to her for taking time to figure MY hair out instead of using a "one size fits all" method. AND double thumbs up to her for explaining her process to me (the client)!
