I am pretty certain this is called "Mike's Country Store." I need to read the name tomorrow when I…read moredrive by; I'll feel a little embarrassed if it has been called Mike's County Store this entire time and I've been misreading it, because I've been shopping there for at least a few years. I might even take a picture of the store for the site since it seems to need a few. It may also prove that I am right about the name. Mike's is a nice little store. It has an old and traditional feeling to it. There are rocking chairs just inside the store. Sometimes you will see an elderly person just relaxing in them. They have little soda boxes with ice in them. The parking lot is small. The workers are local and country. They have decent prices in certain areas and they run small sales weekly. They generally have good meat and the sale prices on some of their meats are great. They sell boiled peanuts! Boiled peanuts are a pain to make, but I love them so much. I found out in the past couple of years that boiled peanuts are not common throughout the US. I guess I am not terribly astonished by this, but if you have never tried boiled peanuts then you should. It will either be a mediocre experience or a life-changing experience for you. Either way the price for a big cup of peanuts here is pretty reasonable in my opinion. Finally, I wouldn't compare their meat to a place like Stripling's, Carroll's or Salt Lick. They have good meat, but I do find it lacking sometimes. Their bacon is just awful. Their sausage is pretty bad too. I would stick to the general meats such as their steaks, ground beef, etc. I did make some of their ribs one time and it turned out pretty great. It's a great place and convenient for residents in the Philema area.

I'll definitely be back to get the chicken box and yes they take EBT as well as you can order online and pick up at the store. You'll have to search their weekly deals on Facebook. Just type in the name Mike's country store and you'll find it they'll also direct you to the other two locations as well.

I've only ever had an issue with one shopper, who got upset because he had to wait for my subs. Michael, diamond shopper, cancelled my order without explanation and disappeared. Never mind...the lovely lady who replaced him was WORTH waiting for!! The subs are the best!! The chicken tender subs are out of this world!! Out of the dozens of times we've ordered, we had a problem one time close to closing, and talked to Ken, the deli manager the next day. She remade both subs at our convenience and I'd give her six stars if I could!!! She did MORE than Instacart offered to do.

With very few exceptions, the employees at Dawson Rd are incredibly rude and unwelcoming. Every time I shop here, the level of customer service is shockingly low, I honestly don't know if it's a management issue, an issue with the area, or both, but it's consistent. The absolute worst areas are the deli and seafood counters. The employees there treat customers like an absolute burden or the enemy just for asking for service. It is a deeply uncomfortable and weird energy for a workplace where people are being paid to assist the public. If you hate working here that much, let someone else have the job who actually wants it. The only saving grace of this store is the meat department-the guys back there are always friendly, polite, and helpful. I've also run into a couple of kind associates in produce. But for everything else? Drive the extra distance to the Hwy 19 location. The staff there actually knows how to treat people with basic respect.
