I am no expert when it comes to photography and still have so much to learn but every interaction I have had in the store is pleasant. The staff is more than willing to help and answer questions. My first class and workshop experience was great! I highly recommend doing the Zoo Lights Workshop, Joe and Scott are knowledgeable and very helpful. I felt I learned a lot from the didactic portion of the class, I was able to use new tools at the zoo and the instructors were available for help as needed. I found the critique portion to be just as helpful, learning from my personal feedback and from others as well. ***I do recommend having a basic knowledge of shutter speed/ISO/aperture before taking this course and a tripod is a must. No fancy equipment required (speaking from experience) read more

I took an online class in Landscape Photography with Joe Klocek. I have taken other classes from other business/photographers. What made Joe's class different is his ability to relate to all of us. I did learn some new processes and more about hyperfocal distance, thank you Joe!! read more

I really enjoyed this class. I was able to learn the settings I need to get hummingbirds in flight . I have enjoyed all the classes I have taken from Mikes Camera.Les read more

Bryan is awesome! He really worked with me to get me the equipment I wanted on a trade-in, and made it super easy and took care of me when a problem came up with one of the lenses. He also knows his backpacks and even knows the names of all the 3 Legged Thing tripods! He knows his equipment and helped guide me into gear that fits my needs, on multiple visits. I can't speak highly enough! read more

Been to Mike's Camera in Lone Tree and on Colorado Blvd a dozen times. Only twice did they have an item in stock. The prices are way above BH and Adorama and they will not price match. Attached is an example of an item they did have in stock I was interested in . Mike's was selling this Lowepro bag for $120.00 more than BH. Are you kidding me?! read more

The Birds of Prey photography class was very well organized, well run, and extremely educational. I'll be taking more classes again soon!

my first real dive into learning my camera- Joe and Scott ( and Curtis) were knowledgeable and helpful. I'm absolutely going to take more classes read more

I really enjoyed Joe's class. This is my second class with him and he does a great job explaining the technical aspects of photography. He is very patient and answers everyones questions. This is the 6th class I have taken from Mike's camera and they have all been wonderful. I am from Colorado and my family still lives there, but I live in Florida currently . Having the classes on line has given me an opportunity that I would not have had. It is the one good thing that came out of covid. Please keep offering them online so that the those of us who are not local can continue to learn and enjoy them. Mike read more

I was looking for two very hard to find camera bodies that were in limited stock nationwide. Andrea Cox was relentless on the phone tracking down the equipment that I needed. She probably made over a dozen calls to make it happen. I was leaving for the shoot the very next week and she absolutely made my day. Our Director was very intent on having this camera body. Mike's is my go to camera store and Andrea is my first call whenever I need anything. read more

Mike's Camera has been really great, overall. I understand some of the other reviewers who mentioned sometimes you can get ignored and that is unfortunate and has happened to me. They do get busy and tend to help those who are buying, not just have questions. However, for the most part I tend to walk out of there happy. I am considering my first DSLR purchase after using manual for a few years now. While I started the conversation mentioning I might just buy one from a friend or online (because it is cheaper), Mark still spent 10-15 minutes with me explaining the pros and cons of different lenses, Canon versus Nikon, etc. and at the end I felt more knowledgeable and more empowered in my DSLR choice. Then Mark even thanked me for letting him help me. Like I said, overall I leave happy. After going there a few years for products and services, I am now considering shelling out the extra $100 to buy an actual camera at their store because of all the extras they give (which works for me since I was going to have all of that done anyway). Definitely give them a try though. I agree Wolf's has better prices sometimes and I go there too. I have just found that Mike's Camera is more knowledgeable and will go the extra mile for me. read more

I just took an online class with Joe how to capture perfect color. Some of our went over my head, but even so I'm grateful for the bits I absorbed. As he or Brian have said before, if you can take 3 new bits of lesson with you after class then your time there was well served. Thank you Joe! read more

My DSLR started getting black lines in the images it captured, so I took it into Mike's Camera a few years ago for a sensor cleaning. I paid over $100 and had to wait about 2 weeks for my camera to be sent away and cleaned. You can imagine my disappointment when my camera was returned and still had the mysterious black lines. I was so discouraged with the fruitless expense I could ill afford, I stopped using my camera for awhile. Well, I just picked my camera back up and decided it was time to solve this issue once and for all. Imagine my anger when, after some very quick internet research, I (1) learned how to easily clean the sensor myself in 10 minutes - NO reason anyone should pay $100 and wait weeks for this service - and (2) found a VERY obvious hair on the sensor that I was able to easily remove - indicating that even after the ransom payment I made to have my camera cleaned, no one actually cleaned it. TL;DR - don't pay for a sensor cleaning, do it yourself. And think twice before taking your camera here for repairs - seems they'd rather make you think your camera is unfixable so you buy a new one. read more

Just had a class on loading from Joe I got a Telya I've been shooting for years and I'm still learning he is excellent instructor I'm going to more classes Count me in! read more

Mke's Camera is excellent! My experience with the sales team and staff was nothing but positive. Randy Bobly made the experience informative and I felt like he was willing to take the time to not only show me all my options, but encouraged me to take time to think about what exactly I wanted in a camera. Randy was willing to show me how to use the camera and took the time to answer all of my questions. I will absolutely be returning to Mike's Camera for all my questions and camera needs. Thank you again for such wonderful service! read more

Thanks to Ian at Lone Tree Mike's Camera for taking such good care of my old pictures, and conscientiously checking each was copied, sized and cut as I requested, even though all the originals were different dimensions. Really appreciate the attention to detail and good follow-through! read more

I dropped off two rolls of film and asked for high res scans. They said it would be about five days. I went to the ups store and then drove 35 min home. I got home and got an email with the scans of my photos. I'm so confused and very pleasantly surprised. thank you for the speedy delivery of my files! I cannot believe I took a picture that morning on film and had it by the afternoon. I obviously don't expect that each time, but I'm grateful for this time read more

I really appreciate the support Mike's camera provides and the workshops are wonderful if you haven't had a chance to attend I highly recommend them for all levels of skill. Joe is an excellent instructor and the workshops provide that opportunity to get out there and get some great captures. read more

I have been interested in photography for around 8 years. I've had basic instruction and shoot in manual mode. Mike's offers a ton of classes and workshop that are fantastic. I did my first workshop with them a few weeks ago, the birds of prey. I came out with a lot of good photos, and had a great time. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful. I'm looking forward to taking more classes from them in the future. read more

Had a great experience with Bryan! Came in looking for a camera I could use for some upcoming travel that was fairly beginner friendly but that I wouldn't quickly outgrow as I learned. Bryan was super knowledgeable, helpful and respectful of my budget. Will definitely be back! read more

I want to like Mike's I really do. I really want to support local businesses. But, Mike's camera makes it really, really difficult. My typical interactions with Mike's camera goes like this. I need something for photography, a lens, a filter, a battery or a camera itself. I drive there walk in and inquire about it. 1) They don't have it or it's in another store (Never in the one I'm in) 2) They can get it here in a few days or a few weeks. 3) It's going to cost more than if I had bought it online, have less stuff with plus a sales tax premium. I get that they can't get away from sales tax and some folks don't want junk filters etc. It just adds to the frustration of dealing with them. The sales staff has been hit or miss. But, mostly miss. They are friendly and they have a good return policy. As I said I would really like to support local business but, why bother if I get incorrect parts, less "stuff" and I have to wait as long as if I had ordered it online at a reputable competitor. read more

I'm always pleased with what I buy from Mike's. This time it was my SECOND Sony Mirrorless camera. (my first was stolen out of my hotel room in Cancun). I recommend 2 things. Go to Mike's and go to Tom Davis - you'll be happy with both. I also recommend the Sony mirrorless. It's small, clear and responsive (enough) for what I use it for. 2 Reminders: Always lock your valuables in your hotel safe, and always zip your camera packs when traveling (especially in Italy and where gypsies are known to venture). read more

So happy I signed up for this class! I've looked at this class for a long time but was worried it would be above my skill level and I would be lost. Scott created a friendly environment for ALL skill levels and worked hard to make sure all the participants got a shot they could be proud of. Critique night was like a special surprise party--seeing different compositions and Scott sharing his thoughts on how you could improve your photo was invaluable! The class was "information rich" and definitely helped improve my skills as I continue my photography journey. read more

Thanks Joe and Mike's for the "Night Scenes and Low-Light Photography" virtual class. It was very informative and Joe stayed until the last question was answered (even the nerdy ones :)). Well done! read more

It's always great to have an excellent "advanced amateur" to "professional" level photography store, staffed by extremely knowledgeable people. But what really makes Mike's Camera so important to me are the in-house people who also teach zoom-classes on all aspects of photography, and provide field-trips to advance your photography knowledge with your camera. Joe Klocek is my personal favorite -- he has taught me more about digital photography than I ever could have learned on my own or through YouTube videos. He provides answers and support at whatever level the class may be in with their personal knowledge of photography. Joe's answers are fully informative and presented in a compassionate manner. read more

I've wanted to learn photography for decades - I finally asked a friend who is a great photographer for advice. She sent me to Mike's. Great buying experience - was guided towards a good camera I could afford (not knowing if I would enjoy photography or not). Then I started taking on-line classes through Mike's. SO incredibly helpful!! Teachers are excellent - helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!! read more

The Denver Zoo workshop was terrific. Instructors Scott and Joe are excellent in presenting the class both online and in the field. Whether you are relatively new to this type of photography or you are advanced in your practice, this is well worth the time. The workshop was in three parts with the first an online webinar going over basic shooting knowledge, camera gear, and techniques for getting good pics at a zoo. On location, Scott and Joe gave instructions and tips regarding positioning, lighting, composition, and camera settings. The third session was an online webinar offering a critique of photos taken by each participant. We were asked to submit two pics each and it was interesting to see the results of each participants efforts and the suggestions from Scott and Joe. This is my second Mike's workshop and I highly recommend taking one that interests you. When you can, please support them and other local businesses. I'm a customer at their Denver store and couldn't be more pleased with the service I receive. They are always available for advice and are a big help in getting me the right gear. read more

Friendly, knowledgeable staff! There are all kind of ways of printing photos available here. Everything from metal to glass to canvas. I recently took the online e-commerce photography class with Joe. He packed more info into a 2-hour webinar than I've gotten in a half-day class elsewhere. He covered more than I had anticipated. Indoor product photography from tabletop to studio and how to best light your subject and why you light it a certain way; and how to photograph a product outdoors, like outdoor gear in its element. Tips, tricks, things to keep in mind, working with the quirks of brands (only the left hands of models should be in the shot for Left Hand Beer). Joe makes it very easy to understand, answers questions along the way and even does diagrams! I felt like I could go right out and do it. It was the best! read more
