The team goes the extra mile at this store as well as at the Boulder store to help produce what has been amazing results. Thank you Mikes Camera for your lack of professionalism and customer service. We brought our camera in and waited at the counter. We were looking for some accessories that were compatible with our unit. We were not greeted at all but several people walked past us multiple times. Someone who looked to be the manager kept running past us back and forth without greeting us as well or perhaps he said something as he continued to keep walking past us. The customer next to us saw that we were waiting for a while and told the employee helping him that he could help us while he makes his decision. So here we are standing waiting for him to answer our question but he just ignores that and continues to help his customer. The customer gave us an apology look. How sad is that! Then one of the reps become available and starts walking in our direction and sees one of his regular customers or so it seems and then asks him how can I help you. Seriously? I guess you have to be a regular customer to get service here. So much for our repeat business as we have a photography business. Horrible horrible store and management. read more

I was able to rent a lens I needed due to an emergency issue with mine, which was nice. however, when trying to return the rental I was ignored because a customer behind me was about to make them a lot of money which was more important. I also needed to buy a universal USB cord that fits most canon cameras to copy files off my memory card. (I like to keep both options open- a cord and card reader.) I explain what I need to the sales person but was answered with a condescending tone about how the cord I needed was "3 years ago", how they didn't carry it (there was a picture of the exact cord I needed above him- the irony), and then tried to sell me a card reader I already have. I've been going to Mike's Camera on South Colorado Blvd for several years. The customer service has been hit or miss. Sometimes I'd stand at the counter waiting for a very long time for assistance with only a couple of other customers browsing the store, only to be completely ignored while there would be a 3 or 4 employees gathered together chatting each other up without even acknowledging my presence...Other times I've had decent assistance but this week it seems Mike's Camera has drastically improved on their customer service. I had an important charity photo exhibition so I needed extra help on my project to meet the deadline. I was pleasantly surprised by the nice, attentive assistance of Aryn, a new employee...however there was a mix-up in our communications . The essential requirements of the photo's were not done correctly which put me in a potential bind with the deadline of the charity exhibition . Fortunately, I was helped by a true gem of an employee named Mani Nadjmi. Not only did she provide superb customer service, but she truly went the extra mile to help me out & correct the photo mistakes. She was patient, pleasant, professional, super competent & swiftly took action to ensure I would make the deadline for the Charity Exhibition. Also, I noticed as soon as I entered the store that all the employees greeted & acknowledged my presence which was a big difference from my past visits to Mike's Camera. I applaud this location for it's big improvement & hope the management realizes that Mani is their stellar customer service Rep. She went above & beyond in giving her time, energy & effort to assist me. Thanks to her, Mani Nadjmi, the charity exhibition won't be missing a few pictures for their cause! read more

I was so fortunate to go to Mike's Camera and work with Rob Schmid last Saturday. My camera had taken a terrible tumble from the top of a luggage cart, and shattered my polarizing filter, plus, being in Namibia which is full of desert and dust, needed a professional cleaning. Rob was so knowledgeable, he explained that Mike's Camera does not offer insurance on filters, BUT because I had purchased a very high end filter, it was covered under the manufacturer's warranty! I was so doing my happy dance, since that particular filter cost $140! He also suggested a killer strap, since the one that came with my Nikon DSLR camera had broken on my trip. I would not go anywhere else for my camera needs, ever! Kudos to Rob for being personable, knowledgeable and just the nicest person to work with!!! read more

I never usually write reviews, but after my experience...just thought others should be made aware. I needed a lens repaired, simple procedure of putting on a new mount..which I even supplied. After waiting 3 weeks with no word, I was told the cost would be over $100...which is more than the lens was worth. Also, that finishing time would be an additional 3 to 6 weeks. Needless to say, I did not have them fix my lens and won't using their repair services again. It was a waste of the $35 deposit. read more

New to this store. But wow. Got a call that my order was ready for pickup. Great. Drove all the way over there, to find that only two thirds of the order was there. The place was so disorganized that it took her nearly a half hour to tell me that I'd have to come back. The helpful sales woman (the only good thing about the encounter) phoned Boulder where the order was, and arranged to have someone bring the order home where she would pick it up on her day off and deliver it to the store. Got to the store (again), after 11, and, after another 20 minutes, learned it hadn't yet been delivered. I had appointments and couldn't wait the extra 20 minutes it would take her to arrive. Going out of town, I would now not have the order for anther three weeks. On my way to my appointment, got a call from the woman who pointedly reminded me that she was doing this on her day off. I told her that her offer was the only part of the encounter that had been worthwhile, and thanked her again. She asked where I lived, suggesting that she would drop them I mentioned that the slide quality on the part of the order I'd received was really bad (scratches, dirt). She became curt, saying that she'd take the order to the store and I could just come pick it up. Friends have since advised me that the place has always been chaos. Never again. read more

I ventured into Mike's Camera on Colorado Boulevard last Saturday (11/19/11) at the height of their big weekend sale, to get Christmas photo cards printed for my parents. From the moment I sat at the kiosk to get the photo card set up, I received excellent customer service. I was asked if I needed help at the kiosk and was given a mini-tutorial on the spot by Dwayne. On Monday evening at store closing time, when I had concerns about the skin coloring of the final photo, everyone worked to have a satisfied customer. Tahvorey wrote a note to the morning shift, and when I arrived first thing Tuesday morning, Kimberly was expecting me and worked to get the coloring to my satisfaction. I had the cards in hand by the end of the day, ready to deliver in person over Thanksgiving! I felt like all staff were treating my photos cards as if it were their own parents. I've always been impressed by the friendly spirit of the store on my other visits, and this more personal interaction with staff confirmed my commitment to use Mike's Camera for all my photographic needs! read more

I had my passport photos taken today. and all process took about 10 mins. As fast as bullet I ran from Mike's coz everything was done in prompt. Great customer service too. If I decide to change my camera I will probably come there too. I saw the guy sitting with the client and explaining literally every bottom of the camera. I just stopped by for a passport photo. I highly recommend this place if you need to get one as well. The setup they use for the photos is professional quality, and MUCH better and cheaper than the type of passport photos that walgreens does. Visited Mike's to see if they had any Pentax DSLRs. No luck there, but while wandering around I heard a "salesman" tell a customer that when they got the little digital they were looking at, they should buy the 4GB chip instead of a 1GB, because then they'd get "sharper pictures"! What hooey! Listened in on two other conversations about simple P&S digitals and it appears the only "feature" being touted is that the ones being discussed were "crushproof". Boy, now there's something important to look for in a camera. I suggest, if you are new to the photography game, go elsewhere. These people are NOT knowledgeable and will sell you what THEY want to, not what you need. read more

I was purchasing a DSLR last year and I mentioned the point-and-shoot I currently had was a Canon to the saleperson I was talking with. Another guy who worked there, who was listening in on our conversation from a few feet away, almost immediately turned to his co-worker and said "Canon takes the WORST pictures...horrible image quality." I ignored him and tried to continue my discussion with the girl helping me but he continued to listen in and say really insulting things in response to my comments on camera type and what I was looking for. It cost his coworker a sale and I've never been back. Fortunately the Wolfs Camera down the road had salespeople who didn't insult their customers right out the door. read more

I will NEVER buy a camera at Mike's camera again. Bought a point and shoot, decided to upgrade (yes, that means actually spend MORE money there) and they told me I had to replace the screen before they could exchange it. When I asked why they pointed out a scratch that I couldn't even see! The sales rep just stood there like an idiot while the nerdy, fat assistant manager whipped out his spray and cloth and attempted to show me the scratch. Again, didn't see the scratch. In the end, they lost money because I had planned to spend an additional couple of hundred to upgrade.What a joke. It's sad really because I bought my SLR from Mikes camera in Seattle and had a wonderful experience. If I could give this Denver location ZERO stars I would! What a joke! I have dealt with Mike's Camera for a year now. I won't go back. I give the Asst. Manager here credit for steering me towards a different camera brand than what I had originally wanted after listening to what I was looking for. I will also give Marc (a former salesman at the Park Meadows store turned camera rep) credit for some of the BEST classes I've had anywhere to date. That's where things turn not so good. I have taken other classes (including a couple at this store) that were an absolute joke, and nothing more than one of their salespeople reading Powerpoint slides off of the screen and telling us about their impressive(?) resume. It turned out to be nothing more than a sales pitch instead of a learning experience. It's a very good thing that I didn't have to pay extra for these classes since they were included in the "Picture Perfect Pack". The sales people use these so-called "classes" as an incentive to buy the camera from Mike's. The trouble is, that other people are forking over, in a lot of cases, AT LEAST fifty-nine dollars to get the sales pitch. Mike's also likes to sell you the expensive camera and lens, usually as a package. They carry a decent selection of expensive additional lenses and flash gear which the sales people earn a commission on. They DO NOT, however, carry many of the camera-brand accessories that are needed. Instead, they want to order the product for you (at least a week out) or sell you their store brand (many of which will not work as well as the camera brand gear). Yes, I have, in fact talked to management at Mike's Camera about these issues. I have not seen any feedback from them, nor have I seen improvement in their accessory inventory. You would think that they could stock these accessories in at least one of their stores since there a quite a few in the Denver/Boulder area, especially if you need something in a pinch. For my next camera purchase, and all of my accessory needs, I will buy on-line after doing my research. read more

Mike's hires employees who are unfamiliar with the merchandise, which makes it difficult to purchase equipment, unless you have done all the research and have no questions. Oh, and if you purchase at Mike's you are going to pay more than anywhere in Denver. Better yet go online, you're better off. You can do your research and get the best price. Just make sure you know what you need and how much you can spend. Don't let anyone talk you into buying more camera than you need. There are a lot of great cameras to choose from. Take your time and you will make an educated decision that fits your budget and is perfect for the work you do. You don't need some unknowledgeable salesman trying to make a commission, who doesn't have any vested interest in your personal photography selling you an expensive camera that isn't what you really need. Do you own research and control your own purchase. You'll be much happier in the end. read more

Although I know his name, I'm not going to put in the review. The Sales Associate acted as though I was bothering him when asking to see camera's and lens' and was very unreceptive to questions. Could have been an off day but learn some customer service skills. The other guys there seem ok but overall I had a much much better experience at the Mike's on the 16th st mall. The 16th st one has less accessories and stuff which is its only downfall. Now for the part that bugs me a little....the "friendly" sales associate I spoke of earlier told me that I shouldn't order online from B and H because the sell grey market cameras like a lot of other vendors. This was completely untrue. Flat out lie. B & H does not sell Grey market cameras at all but they do sell imported "grey" lens' which are clearly labeled as imported. I ordered from B & H and got an accessory kit and extra lens for the same price as just the camera and stock lens at Mikes. I will probably shop here again but I will make sure to avoid Toolio the sales guy read more

I just left what I believe will be my last visit to Mike's Camera. This location in particular but I have little reason to believe it's different at the others. What is your company culture like? Do your employees like their jobs? Do they even like photography? If they do, it's not showing. I keep thinking it's just a fluke but every time it's the same. Even my poor husband who tried to buy me some gear as a christmas present walked out after the way he was spoken to. Now I know why. It's so discouraging to be an aspiring professional (with a fair amount of knowledge on gear) who is ready to make an expensive purchase and to consistently be treated with what can only be described as maybe passive disdain. They don't really care, but they're also a bit annoyed at your question. The only nice person I've encountered has been someone clearly overeager to make a sale. Not to help me. Just to sell me. Everyone else is generally pretty rude. I've come in a few times and today, I literally chose not to purchase something because I couldn't justify it based on the customer service. Based on the other reviews, it sounds like if you buy an expensive camera they'll play nice. Anything else and you are out of luck. You have a lot of work to do. I had a less than stellar experience with this Mike's Camera location on Colorado Blvd. when doing some minor photo imaging and printing of table numbers in preparation for my wedding. While they were recommended to me by a friend who said they did quality and reliable work, for me, their photo imaging service and lack of communication throughout the process was deeply disappointing. I found it incredibly frustrating that I was told this process would take 48 hours and a week and a half later I still did not have a complete, nor quality order. On top of the substantial delay, I received no notification along the way when things were clearly not on schedule, orders were not put in, electronic files were misplaced, there was inconsistency in the pictures being printed in matte vs. glossy, and the actual finished product contained one egregious print with absolutely no explanation for it upon pick-up (we didn't notice until we got home). I was pleased that I was given a substantial discount on my order and the one print was eventually re-done, however, I would have gladly paid in full if it meant some peace of mind in the hectic days leading up to the wedding. read more

I just spent a couple grand in the Lone Tree location within the last couple of days. I came in today to ask a couple questions about my purchase. While I was waiting at the camera area, a customer (an older man) who was being helped, pointed his camera at me. I turned away and shielded my kids (let me add that I'm a young woman and I had my two young daughters with me). When I didn't turn around, the man yelled at me, "Pretty girl! Pretty girl!" I turned and told him, "That's really rude!" Him and the employee, Tom, looked at me shook their heads in disapproval and the man rolled his eyes. I repeated that they were being rude and they ignored me. There was zero accountability of them making me feel uncomfortable, especially with my children present. For all I know this man trying to take my picture and calling me 'pretty,' could be a predator or a pervert. Tom could have stepped up, but he just played along with gross excuse of a man. I complained to the manager, but all I got was that he'll talk to Tom after he's done doing some paperwork. I regret buying my gear here now. read more

I'm really torn on what to rate this place. After being treated very rudely at the Boulder location several years ago when buying my first Nikon DSLR I swore I'd never go back. The staff was cold, unfriendly, and gave me little attention. With the release of the Nikon D800, Mike's was the only local Colorado brick and mortar location to order the camera from (Wolf's allotment comes through the Ritz warehouse). My initial phone conversation with Dan T. was very good, he was informative, friendly, and helpful. I then went in and placed my order with the manager, Ken, who was also very great to work with. During subsequent calls back to the store I was given conflicting information from other sales associates and treated rudely. I simply wanted to know where I was on the waiting list for the camera and it took 3 calls, 1 to the Denver location, another to the Boulder, and then another to the Denver location with no one willing to look up the information or saying they would and not calling back before I called back and got another employee, who was a bit unfriendly, but with some pushing got me the information I needed. My camera arrived much quicker than expected, and it seems Mike's got a pretty decent allotment of the new camera compared to other retailers in Denver and online. I was very happy with this. Their selection is great, their prices are competitive (minus tax), but many of their sales associates aren't worth a damn. If you're going to go to Mike's on Colorado be sure to ask for Dan T. or Ken, because they're outstanding at what they do. I'm sure there are other great sales people at the store as well, but I've had my fair share of poor service. read more

I really want to support brick and mortar retails stores, and would like to see more competition for Mike's, so there could be, at the least, another "known" option for similar services. When my wife called Mike's about transferring a photo negative into the digital domain, she was encouraged after she was told the process would require a specific amount of time, thus allowing her to schedule a trip accordingly. Unfortunately, when she arrived at the time she said she would arrive, a different customer service person told her a different story than what she was told by the individual she spoke with on the telephone. This classic example of "miscommunication" is easy to accept when it happens infrequently. However, the above stands as only the tip of the iceberg into what cascaded into messy confusion over the course of three days about what services they could provide and the time period these services could be completed. Sadly, Mike's floor staff reflected poorly what services were available, and, consequently, the owner's competence to help the floor staff understand the store's mission and how to fulfill their purpose as a brick and mortar retail store; one "hopefully" interested in providing the best service they can to real, flesh and blood customers who prefer to conduct business face-to-face. read more

Took an old photo of my mother to the restoration department at Mikes Camera, to blow up, remove certain blemishes and print on new paper. They charged 110 dollars (which, if they'd done a good job, I would not balk at of course) and in return I have a completely altered photograph of my mother--suddenly she has highlights in her chocolate brown hair, appears to be wearing lipstick (she was 14 at the time the photog was taken) and her long hair seems to end at her ear, as though she has a bowl-cut for the front half of her face and long hair in the back. I am furious with this place. THEY SUCK. I asked why the restorer seemed to take such artistic liberties with the photo (ex--turning my mom's sweater green) instead of removing a water stain and a dent; the lady replied sourly that "This is an excellent restoration". I am extremely disappointed--I was so excited to give this to my mother as a gift. can't do that now--I would be mortified to present her with a crappy Andy Warhol gone wrong. If you HAVE to go to Mike's for your restoration needs, be painstakingly specific from the get-go and ask a lot of questions about what they'll be doing with your precious memories (and precious cash). I just drove for 40 minutes to get to the Lone Tree location to have some images printed. The guy behind the counter tells me that the printer is not working and that it may be days, if not a week before it is working again. OK I get it. Stuff happens (even though I can't believe they don't have a backup plan.) He then tells me that I will have to drive to the Colorado BLVD. store. OK. I can do that. (Although if I am MIKE....and really want to WOW my customers I would offer to set up the print job and send the file to the Colorado Blvd. store myself. But then WOWing your customers is not mission here.) So...40 minutes later I am at the Colorado Blvd. store. They tell me it is going to take a couple of weeks because they are upgrading the printing equipment. Really....the Lone Tree Store didn't know this before they sent me over there? I am pissed! Never again will I enter Mike's Camera or spend another dime here. read more

Impeccable customer service every time I come to this place, I know what I'm doing but I don't, they don't act condescending in the least bit. Everyone there has been great in my experience. There is one gentleman who's name I believe is josh, every time I'm in there he is helping an old lady or someone not very experienced get used to a camera. He is always super patient and attentive with anyone I have ever seen him with. I just hope I didn't get his name wrong, he wears glasses if that helps. The manage Leon is the other reason I will always come back to this place. Leon is attentive, knowledgeable and in my experience, has always had my best interests in mind rather than trying to get every dollar out of my wallet. People like these guys are the reason amazon still has stiff competition. If you need a camera or some camera equipment but don't want to learn the details or how to use it from YouTube, go to these guys. Go to them anyways because they price match! read more

Great selection with good pricing and an amazing staff!! Rob is the man!! I went in thinking of a more expensive DSLR kit, I had done what I thought was extensive research between various DSLR kits and mirrorless as well but there is so much info and so many opinions out there it's hard to really know what you want just from reading reviews and articles and doing my best to "compare specs". Rob not only took his time and patience with me to find and show me what he thought was exactly right for me he also showed me what I thought I wanted and even things I couldn't afford and compared everything and really broke it down for me in this modern era of photography. I've only had my mothers hand me downs for years and I decided it was time to really start taking my photography serious and I was ready to make the investment. Rob opened my eyes and has set me on what I know is a great path in the right direction and I know I have full confidence in my kit and ability to use it (because he also allowed me to attend a complimentary and complete how to class for my camera that he teaches). I ended up buying the Olympus OM-D M5ii with the 14mm-150mm lens package and saved about $300 dollars while getting, in my opinion, a much better kit. I couldn't be happier!! This post is a little past due (about 2 weeks sorry) I've just been too busy shooting on my new Olympus every free chance I get! read more

He also told me that my memory card may be corrupted and to bring it in for a free replacement! He was patient and kind! What service!
