Personally, I kind of prefer the coffee from the other Mikel coffee shop on Goodge Street, as this coffee felt a bit lackluster with not as much care and attention put into the brewing of it. Couple that with the hectic atmosphere on most weekend days, and the plethora of other perfectly good coffee shops in the area, and this may not turn out to be the best investment you make today.
That being said, these guys are open longer than most of the others, have a restroom for customers, (not many here do), offer a rather chill indoor and outdoor space when the foot traffic isn't too bad- in a pretty nice residential area- and the coffee isn't the worst I've tried in Notting Hill. I ordered my usual Iced Cappuccino with just a smidgeon of sugar, but unlike the ones I've ordered from the other Mikel coffee shop, this one was still harsh enough to make me cough. I get it. It is Italian coffee, after all, and it isn't always known for it's smoothness, but for the money I paid for it, I think they could have been bothered to add a bit more balance to it. Kind of makes me shudder to think what the non-sweetened version tastes like.
They have a good-sized number of pastries available, but with so many high-end patisseries around here, you could do better. The service is pretty lukewarm, but not terrible. You could do worse. read more
