I wanted to try my hand at powerlifting and work on my overall strength since I don't get to move too often for my job. Since starting my training with Hunter, I have seen so much improvement in my overall fitness and nutrition habits. I'm the leanest I have ever been and can lift heavier than I ever thought I could. My trainer is extremely knowledgeable and walks me through each exercise as many times as I need to make sure I understand and have proper form. I feel completely at ease and look forward to each session. He also puts up with my shenanigans which is a definite plus. Hideout Fitness itself is a great space, too. Usually, gyms are incredibly intimidating, especially if you're unsure of what you're doing. Hideout is extremely welcoming as the other trainers will go out of their way to make you feel seen and to cheer you on. 12/10 would recommend Hideout to anyone who needs any fitness guidance and may be a little nervous, like I was. I look forward to continuing my fitness journey with Hideout and Hunter!

I started training at Hideout Fitness in January, about six months after the birth of my second…read morebaby. Because I had a fairly delicate pregnancy and was being extra cautious, I didn't work out much during pregnancy. By the time I returned, I had taken nearly 16 months off from consistent training, and it showed. My strength, mobility, and overall fitness had regressed significantly. Anyone who has been through a postpartum journey knows how challenging it can be to start again while breastfeeding, functioning on interrupted sleep, and adjusting to a body that feels different than it once did. What impressed me most about Hideout was how well the trainers understood this. They took the time to assess where I was physically, identify my strengths and weaknesses, and guide me back one step at a time. On my first day, I was incredibly tight and hesitant. I struggled to squat and was genuinely nervous about even gently bending my knee. Four months later, I was barbell squatting 110 pounds without pain. That transformation is just one example. The improvements in my strength, mobility, range of motion, and overall fitness have been incredibly encouraging. The progress has been so rewarding that I rarely miss a session--even on the days when I'm exhausted. My coach does an exceptional job of meeting me where I am each day, modifying workouts based on my energy levels, recovery, and capabilities while still keeping me moving toward my goals. What Hideout offers is more than just workouts. They have a team of knowledgeable, educated, and highly skilled coaches who understand that every person is different. They tailor their approach to each individual's body, strengths, limitations, and goals. That level of personalization makes all the difference. It takes a lot to trust someone with your body and your health. I can unequivocally say that placing my trust in Hideout Fitness was one of the best decisions I made. I've worked with some phenomenal trainers over the years, so I don't give strong recommendations lightly. This team truly knows what they're doing, and they bring genuine passion and dedication to their work. Your success feels like their success, and that's a rare quality to find. I wholeheartedly recommend Hideout Fitness to anyone looking to make meaningful progress on their fitness journey. Whether you're returning after a long break, navigating postpartum recovery, or simply trying to become stronger and healthier, you're in excellent hands.

I've trained with Andy for a full year now, and I can say without hesitation he's the best personal…read moretrainer I've worked with. Some context: I'm a busy executive who spends most of my day at a desk. I don't have much time, and I'm not interested in bulking up. I told Andy up front that I care about three things: better posture, less lower back pain, and, sure, looking good is a nice bonus. He didn't hand me a cookie-cutter program. He built everything around those goals. The results speak for themselves. My posture is noticeably better, my lower back feels stronger, and I carry myself differently. Years of desk sitting had me hunched forward, and that is finally reversing. He also handles my unusual requests. I dabble in surfing, and all that time at a desk made it hard to keep my neck up when paddling. Andy noticed, adjusted my training to work on it, and it has made a real difference. That is a very different ask than "make me huge," and he delivered exactly what I needed. Here's what really sets him apart: the whole session is turnkey. When I'm with Andy, my goal is to turn my brain off, and he makes that possible. He tracks the reps, follows the plan, adjusts on the fly, and keeps everything moving, so all I have to do is show up and work. What most people don't see is how hard that is. His gym is busy, with people everywhere and plenty of them trying to talk to him, and he stays completely focused on me the entire hour. That level of attention is rare. And let's be honest, I'm not an easy client. I refuse to diet, and I never work out on my own. Every result I've gotten has come from my sessions with Andy alone. That is a tough job, and he has made it work. He's knowledgeable, thoughtful, and clearly cares whether you get what you came for. His spot is near SNA airport, which is a bit of a drive for me, but it is absolutely worth it. If you sit at a desk all day, deal with back pain, or want a trainer who builds around your real goals and does the thinking for you, go see Andy. Highly recommend.

Andy Shin changed my life…read more When I turned 40, I attended a Tony Robbins event and completed a life assessment. I rated nearly every area of my life a 10 out of 10 except one: my health. That was a 2. Five years earlier, I had been in the best shape of my life. Somewhere along the way, I lost my relationship with fitness. It wasn't just that I stopped going to the gym. I lost the motivation, confidence, and connection to the part of myself that enjoyed taking care of my body. No matter how many times I tried, I couldn't seem to find my way back. Then I met Andy through a friend. From our first interaction, his energy, presence, and genuine belief in what was possible made me excited to try again. As an Asian American man, seeing someone who embodied strength, discipline, confidence, and authenticity was deeply inspiring. He wasn't just teaching fitness. He was showing me what was possible. The results have been incredible. My body has transformed, but more importantly, I've rebuilt my relationship with health and fitness. I've regained confidence, consistency, and pride in myself. For the first time in years, I feel connected to my body again. I live an hour away and happily make that drive every week because the impact Andy has had on my life is worth far more than the time spent getting there. If you're struggling to get started, feeling stuck, or trying to reconnect with a healthier version of yourself, I can't recommend Andy highly enough. Working with him has been one of the best investments I've made in myself.

Fast forward five years and it was becoming increasingly apparent that I might be thin, but I was also weak. I felt stronger before the surgery when I was still fat! After moving to Irvine in the spring, I found myself with an abundance of time on my hands because I don't know anyone here. I wanted to join a gym, but realized I had no idea what to do once I got there. In my pursuit of a gym, I came across Train with Dave and discovered it didn't cost much more than one of the high-end gyms in the Irvine area. On a whim, I signed up for a free evaluation/intake, but prior to arriving, I was ambivalent about signing up because my mind was telling me a personal trainer was an excessive expense, something only rich people could afford. After the meeting I was sold. I was assigned to KYLE as my personal trainer, who has been awesome. I really appreciate his flexibility in scheduling, and I'm already seeing and feeling the changes in my body. How wrong I was about the expense. There is nothing excessive about investing in a healthier future for myself. Going to train twice a week introduces a sense of accountability into my workouts, and as much as I wish I could be trusted to hold myself accountable, I doubt I would have made it this far on my own. Kyle pays close attention as I work through the exercises, offers encouragement, and takes the time to educate me about physiology. I appreciate learning about what my body is doing and why. The workouts are customized for me, and his attention and support have made such a difference for someone who initially had no idea what to do in a gym. I'm also realizing that strength training offers a sense of tranquility I had not anticipated. That has been an unexpected benefit, and something I really appreciate. I look forward to continuing to work with Kyle, developing a healthy lifestyle, and learning how to implement it for a lifetime. I want to feel strong, and I want to understand how to keep building on what I'm learning. Money well spent. Welcoming atmosphere. And a trainer who puts time and attention into helping me. I can't say enough good things about Kyle and Train with Dave!

When I first started, my main goal was to lose body fat while building a stronger, more athletic physique. Since working with Josh, I've gotten significantly leaner, while also seeing a huge improvement in my overall fitness and endurance. Running has become a regular part of my routine, and I can now comfortably run for much longer and at a much better pace than when I started. What I appreciate most about Josh is that the training feels very personalized. He pays attention to how my body responds, adjusts exercises when something doesn't feel right, and makes sure I'm progressing without just pushing weight for the sake of it. He also keeps me accountable with my nutrition and overall routine, which has made a big difference in my results. The environment at Overperform is also great. It feels much more focused and personal than a commercial gym, and I actually look forward to my training sessions. If you're serious about improving your physique and overall fitness and want a trainer who genuinely pays attention to your progress, I definitely recommend Josh and Overperform.

I cannot recommend Priscilla enough for your training needs! Gyms were always intimidating for me,…read moreand consistency was difficult to maintain, but Priscilla really changed that for me. She motivated me to continually work on the things I struggled with while still meeting me where I was when it came to mobility and strength (I was a girly with tense hips and a weak core ). She also knew when to call me out when things were getting too easy and I was trying to be sly. It was truly the kind of partnership I needed to push myself out of my comfort zone. I went from hating the idea of going to the gym to being eager to find out if the week was going to start with a lower or upper body day. But Priscilla's care went beyond our sessions. As a graduate student, there were times when I would procrastinate a little too hard, and she always encouraged me to prioritize studying when the semester started to get tougher. She was always so understanding and considerate when my personal life was lifing, while still motivating me to get back to it when I could. That balance of compassion and accountability made all the difference. She truly fosters a sense of community both inside and outside of the gym. I'm so grateful for the confidence, strength, and consistency she helped me build during my time there!
