The water heater they replaced had piping running all over the place. By adjusting the position of the gas line they were able to move the water heater over and create some additional space. This allowed them to run the piping square and exposed the main water shutoff to the house, which was previously hidden behind the water heater. I need to reiterate that this was at the very end of the day on a Friday whereas most plumbers couldn't make it out until Monday or Tuesday the following week - talk about above and beyond! He offered two different potential fixes as well as a stop gap fix in the event we wanted to delay a fix for little longer. They charged us over $400 for 20 minutes worth of work. I did not mind paying that much as long as it was reasonable. I reached out to them and asked if they wouldn't mind providing me with an itemized statement that included a breakdown for parts and labor. They were unable or unwilling to do that.
