Mike Scott Plumbing assisted us with finding a leak detection company and then once the location was identified, repaired the leak, finishing up on New Years Eve at close to 7PM. Mike Scott Plumbing is the worst experience I have ever had with any contractor. They did little work, and wouldn't reconnect the main water line drain. I paid them and when I spoke with a Supervisor, to request the extra job, he yelled at me on the phone, and said they wouldn't finish the work even though, all I wanted was an add on task and was willing to pay extra for it. In 2014 we had Mike Scott Plumbing replace our drain field. So when we had water backing up into both our showers when the washing machine or dishwasher were run at the same time we called Mike Scott Plumbing again. An appointment was set up for 9pm. The service men didn't arrive till 9:45. We had family from out of state so I told them since they were late that & our family was going to bed they would to come back the next day. They said there would be a travel charge og $97.00 even though all thay did was watch one toilet when it was flushed. The person who seemed to be in charge called the office & told them I refused to pay because they came to late & didn't do anything. That tech looked me right in the face and said there would be no charge after again speaking to the office. When called the next day I was told that they would not return until I paid the 97.00. I asked to speak to someone in charge I was told the service manger would call me back. When he did return my call I told him what happened & he said that wasn't what his tech told him & he wasn't going to get in a "pissing contest " with me about it. His next statement was that they would not in any way be my plumber again.Hell of a way to do business. read more

We received service from Mike Scott Plumbing and it was not great service. They showed up reeking like cigarettes, I am not a smoker and it was absolutely disgusting. I'm guessing a few of them were smoking right before they came inside. There were five or six guys. I was working in the garage, my house is being worked on. About 90 minutes after the guys arrived I needed to go to the store and I was waiting for one of the guys to come out into the garage, since they were accessing the attic through the garage. I figured I'd tell one of them I'd be leaving for a bit, I waited about 25-30 minutes and nobody came out. I tried avoiding going in due to the cigarette smell. I finally went in and nobody was there. I left the front door unlocked and closed the garage door. I was gone for 20-30 minutes and when I returned, they were in the house and garage again. If they were leaving, communicating this would have been nice. The inspector came by later that day and we failed. Mike Scott Plumbing had to return to make modifications. We had other guys working on the home and we had to ask the other workers if anybody had come out to do some work. We NEVER received a call or notice of when they'd be out. Luckily someone was there to allow them access to the home. We called the following day to find out what the status was and to find out if they needed to return once again, the gal at the office was unable to locate us in the system. OMG, I don't know that it can get any worse. Rather than going on and on, the only thing I can say is whomever the business owner really needs to step it up, there's a LOT of room for improvement, you need to do much better, learn how to communicate and make sure the employees are representing the type of business he/she would like to be recognized for. The guys who came out were pretty good, but they were constantly using foul language around me, I found that to be very uncomfortable but I dealt with it. After receiving a copy of my bill / charges via email, and after they left, I noticed a discrepancy in the time they were here and what I was charged, plus a charge for a part that should have not been replaced. I called the company yesterday about it and was told someone would call me back that day, no one did. I called again this morning, a message was sent to a supervisor, he did call me back right away. He asked me why I was calling, I hesitated for a moment thinking he should know why I called because I was told he was told what the problem is. After only getting through part of my explanation as to why I felt the time being charged was incorrect, he interrupted me, became confrontational and wouldn't listen to my side and said he's sticking with the time charged. It's only $44, but for me it's the principle of fairness for the consumer. He did agree to reimburse me for a part that I should have not been charged for. I have worked for 25 plus years in the service industry, I believe in referring my friends to good companies and letting them know who the bad ones are. I have a neighbor who needs one, in good conscience I cannot recommend Mike Scott Plumbing. read more

We did have some issues with the tankless hot water heater, but Mike Scott Plumbing stood by product, attempted to repair on two different trips, however unit was faulty so with zero argument they replaced unit with a new one. It's reassuring to see a company like Mike Scott Plumbing stand by their installation and products. It also helps to have an awesome crew of installers who are knowledgable, courteous, and friendly! The quality of the driving last night around 10 PM on 301 through the Citra area was horrible as the Mike Scott plumbing truck was riding my tail with my cruise set to 75 in a 65 mph zone with their brights blazing through my rear view mirror and car. That kind of driving takes a special kind of A Hole. As much as I value a good plumber and can't speak to their skills, I can only hope the driver had explosive diarrhea and didn't make it to the bathroom in time. read more

We recently purchased a 2 1/2 year old home in the Villages. I recently had Mike Scott Plumbing out to see why I was having water back up into the bathtub and toilet when we ran the washing machine. The tech said it was probably just a blockage in the line. He ran the snake in and said that would take care of the issue. I paid them $200. The next time the washing was run the same thing happened again. I called them back and was told I would have to give them my credit card again for another charge because they don't guarantee their work for that. No one even checked to see if this could be an issue with the back flow valve being faulty, they just expect me to keep paying $200 every few days I guess. Very poor service!!!! read more

Called Mike Scott to replace a toilet and install a faucet in one of my rental properties. I provided the material. The guy comes out (Day #1) and replaces the toilet. He leaves at about 2:30. I go over to check on it and I notice the faucet that I provided is on the floor. He literally, picked it up off the toilet and set it on the floor. I called the next day and they came out again. When I get the bill I am charged $87.00 for each trip, labor for each trip AND for the material that I provided... I called a spoke to a "manager" that was the most arrogant "person" I ever spoke to in a service environment. Horrible experience - never again read more

When I called I was told that the tech said he knocked, which was a false statement. l recently had to have a leaking faucet repaired, it still leaked. They had put in a new cartridge. They claimed that it was a faulty faucet. They still charged me $252.25 . I contacted Delta (the manufacturer) and they sent me the cartridge to repair the faucet. This time I installed the cartridge myself. No leaks. This should have been no more than a 15 minute repair job and they charged me for not fixing the leak. read more

I don't relish writing bad reviews, I much prefer giving a company kudos. I called Mike Scott Plumbing because my toilet was backing up. They sent a guy who was polite enough but spent a long time trying to find the problem and could not find it. After several hours, he gave in and called his supervisor. The supervisor said he could be at my home in 15 minutes. I waited almost an hour for him to arrive. He went over everything the first guy had done. Hell, I had even already pulled the toilet myself, to make it easier for them when they arrived! Then the supervisor Keith broke out the sewer camera, and spent a good deal of time trying to find an issue. They both remarked how clean and clear the plumbing pipes appeared. There were no leaks, no blockages, no roots, no cracks, no buildup. Eventually, they came up with a theory - maybe the pipes under the foundation had shifted and need to be re run. "That's the only thing I can think of." They suggested the repair would best be claimed on my homeowner's insurance, as it would require accessing the pipes through the interior floor, through the foundation. The supervisor promised he would get back to me with 1) a video copy of the camera inspection for my insurance company, and 2) a detailed listing of the work required and a cost estimate. The supervisor said he would have that to me in 2 days. That was 34 days and three phone calls ago. No calls, no estimate. Just promises that someone will get back to me, and a statement from their business answering service person letting me know that Mike Scott Plumbing does not do any type of insurance work - a detail oddly omitted by both techs when they suggested I call my homeowner's insurance company. So, I paid for their service, they could not remedy the problem. I do not have the promised detailed estimate, nor the video of the camera inspection of the pipes, both of which I need for my insurance company. And no one is responding to my calls. Meantime I'm out one bathroom. I asked for the supervisor Keith's number so I could call him directly. Nope. Ditto for the tech they sent. Neither tech wore a mask in my home, or asked if I would prefer they did. Based on my experience with Mike Scott Plumbing, I would not recommend them to a friend. read more

He then proceeds to hand me a bill for $87! He did NOTHING! I paid and immediately called the business to lodge a complaint. I have had Mike Scott out twice because drains were clogged and no one else could come out as quick. Both times I paid and was told the problem was solved. Both times I had to have them out again the next day for the same problem. I paid $75 for the service call both times (plus all the extras) because they have no guarantee. Tree roots in pipes, these poor guys worked sooo hard cutting at them they actually bent saw blade & had other tools almost break. I was charged for the 30 minutes the guy spent eating in the truck outside my house. When customer service was told of their failure to clear either drain, the promised supervisor call was never received, failure to install new piping as requested under the kitchen sink, failure to check for leaks after reinstalling the original kitchen sink piping resulting in a pond in my kitchen, they were kind enough to blame me for all my problems and offered to send me an invoice. My sarcasm apparently went over the woman's head because she gave me a happily enthusiastic thank you at the end. These people left a mess of pipe detritus from other homes on my kitchen floor. I don't even want to think what might be in it. They have no shame. Consider this - although this guy did remove his gloves before eating, he neither covered/removed a shirt nor washed his hands. If they don't care about themselves, they will not care about you. Oh yeah - when they say "plus parts", they mean rental and usage of their tools, like a snake. Don't make my mistake. read more

I can not say enough about the service and kindness shown to me by Mike Scott Plumbing. The pipe from my water meter to the house broke. After another company had 4 workers digging holes in my landscaping "unsuccessfully" for 3 days, MSP came and saved the day. I am a widow sheltering in place due to my health I had been without water from Sunday to Wednesday. In less than 6 hours, one man had found the problem repaired all the damage done by the first company and had a new water line ran to my house. The next part proves the heart of this company. I was contacted the next morning to make sure everything was OK. When I went to give my credit card, I was told there was no charge due to all I had been through. I have two experiences with this company and their techs are unprofessional and rude. They came recommended by my contractor who was working on my bathroom. The first time they were repairing a valve on our toilet, and while they accomplished that and I was pleased with the work, the technician was rude and sullen. I put it down to a bad day. It wasn't bad enough that I wasn't willing to work with them again. This time however, enough is enough. Our bathroom is being worked on by the same contractor who again recommended this company. He was working in our bathroom when the tech came by to give us a quote on various things to be fixed. We needed a hot and cold fixture to be piped so that it could fit into a new fixture with only one knob for both instead of two, the top of the shower valve extended upward because my husband is tall and he had to bend over while using it, and a toilet installed. Pretty simple, at least to me. I just wanted to know how much it would cost. No work was being done this day. The tech called before coming. I wasn't at home, just my contractor, who spoke with him. The contractor noted the attitude himself. The tech took a look around and said he didn't have time for this and left. When I called to find out what happened, I was told he'd noted that there were a breathing hazard because of pets. I do have pets, but they are corralled in a room away from the construction, and the contractor was working there since early morning without any problems. I told them this. They said they would investigate. They called back and said they wouldn't be doing any other work for us without giving any explanation. I said that is fine, as I would not be having them do anything else with their unprofessional attitude. One of the things the management stated was that things are backed up right now and there are emergencies. I am the first person to acknowledge that there are emergencies and things happen. However, the tech called me to confirm that he was arriving. Nothing was stated that he had somewhere else to go to. That I would understand. Instead he didn't want to do the job and came up with something that would absolve him of responsibility. My contractor is upset and will no longer be recommending this company to his clients, and I'm calling someone else. read more

Mike Scott plumbing did some work to my hot water heater. They never called to schedule me after I was referred to them by Duke Energy. I have to call them 11 days later. They came out and did some repairs but missed the water leak. When I called back the next they - they were rude and gave me a hard time. I'm a pretty reasonable person with appropriate expectations from people who do work for me. Wasnt good. Try someone else first. read more
