Traditional Shotokan Karate is taught and standards are upheld. This is not a McDojo where little kids are wearing black belts and running around the floor. This is a very serious, yet patient place. 5 year old's up to 80 year old's seem like they benefit both amazingly from here. This has been my best find in Florida. He went into detail about Soo Bahk Do and the studio, you can tell he loves what he does. For reference I contacted 3 different places and I didn't feel swayed with any other place. Honestly I wasn't sure my kids would be interested but the bottom line was that this was something they were going to do because I believe children should learn to defend themselves through martial arts. I myself have not done martial arts but I have family and friends that have and still do. From the first class, my kids have loved it! It's all they talk about and they were so excited to show us everything they learned again and again. The program is so much more than martial arts. It nurtures confidence, physical fitness, and respect. Master Cruz and Master Broyles are patient and highly skilled. It is so fun to watch, I love that we as the parents can sit and observe. We couldn't recommend it more highly to any parent looking for a structured, respectful, and empowering activity for their child or themselves. Also, Master Cruz looks just like Jason Statham!

I broke my back, spent 10 years in pain, I was scared to move fast, or twist too much. There was a lot of fear in my body and mind. I also knew that I was growing fat, moving less, and my future was going down hill. I needed to do something! The level of instruction, knowledge, caring, respect, and friendships I have experienced at Oom Yung Doe over the last two years is very, very special. I move with a new sense of freedom (I never thought I'd see again). I sleep like a baby, my mind is sharp and focused. I stand with pride and strength. 100% of the credit goes to the incredible knowledge that has been passed down over generations, and my incredible instructors. The time I spend training with my daughter has also been a great bonding experience. It gave us more of a common ground, communication, and a different kind of respect and understanding that brought us closer together. I've seen the same drastic improvements with everyone around me. I highly recommend Oom Yung Doe for all ages, and all body types. It is by far the best thing I've ever done for myself. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Hank Marcus
