This is a small Migros, but it has the necessities- fruit, yogurt, cheese, bread, and chocolate. I enjoyed my short shopping trip here much more than my visit to the Migros by Gare Cornavin, which, on Thursday evenings, when it closes late, is too packed. (I don't like rundown Cornavin and its semi-shady environs and try to avoid it as much as I can). I know folks complain about how pricey Switzerland is, but Migros is not bad - there's always something on sale a kg of carrots for 1 franc, a kg of nectarines for almost 3 francs. Low-fat yogurt is around 60 cents for a small container. Their brand of cholocate, Frey, is all right and costs 50 cents less than the superior quality Callier I got from Coop. The nice woman working at the Geneva tourist office, not far from Migros, recommended some Frey chocoloate varities - I wouldn't agree with her. Migros is not memorable compared to the abundance we are used to in the US - and that too for low prices - and Frey, Callier, and even Lindt and the other Swiss chocolates I've had don't compare to the Boci (Slovak) chocolate I had in Hungary - sorry Swiss cows. Migros is much better than the rip-off Sunday produce market in Planpalais and the fruit market in front of the Fusterie temple - where produce may be good to look at but disappoints in taste and quality - not to mention price. read more
