I wish I could give this company a lower rating.
I absolutely cannot believe my experience today. I'm absolutely devastated.
They've blocked me on Facebook already after I made a review. I understand it was slightly abrasive so I will make this one less so.
I was set to pick up my animal, a ferret named Stitch, in Glastonbury, CT at 1:15PM. They were a little late but that's understandable. I waited in line, everyone was nice, it was mostly volunteers.
When I was handed my animal, he was dead in the crate. They handed me him without even looking at him. They said he was checked on in the morning, and yet there was no water in his bottle at all. Sure, it may have leaked but how quickly? He was lying in gross wet food and wasn't let out at all throughout the trip.
If you take on the responsibility of handling and transporting a ferret, without having ever done it before as you said, wouldn't you take a little more care? How often are the animals checked on? Twice a day? That doesn't seem right.
There were so so many animals, mostly dogs, on the truck, a "48 ft reefer trailer" full of dogs in tiny crates on the walls of it.
The owner didn't react as if an animal had died under his care. At the end of our conversation he said "F*ck you" to me and my boyfriend and walked away and disappeared after harsh words were said but either way absolutely unprofessional. The woman I first told said, "Well I have to keep the line moving".
I've spoken on the phone with them and they seemed apologetic. Said the owner has been crying since. So have I. This was such an incredibly traumatic experience, and then on top of that being handed a dead animal. I am simply looking for this company, Mighty Mutt Shipping, to be held accountable for the death of this animal.
He was healthy before he left. I have no words, I cannot believe this happened.
Edit: I'm not disagreeing you're sad about the situation. And you can say "We would never curse at anyone in any situation" but James said "F*ck you" right to my face. Right in front of me. I do not appreciate being called a liar.
James initially said that Stitch had been given water that morning, not the night prior. From whatever time that night to 1:30 PM the next day is a long time with no water (that "probably all leaked out" as James said).
And to the other reviewer right after me (who uploaded /immediately/ after me, so they're probably from the company. And it says he's from California? (As of 11/10) He really was in Connecticut that weekend to pick up a dog?) - I wasn't using foul language. I couldn't stop sobbing; I wasn't yelling. I specifically went behind the trailer to speak with James because I didn't want to sour anyone's special day with the death of this animal.
Mighty Mutt Shipping shouldn't have taken on the job of transporting Stitch if they didn't whether or not they could. read more
