I recently contracted Wm Zachow and sons to install a shower faucet. They came to do an estimate…read moreand said the charges would run between $800 to $1000. The technician who did the work was polite and did a good job. He was fast and efficient and cleaned up behind himself when he finished. I was satisfied with the work that was done. He was done in 2 1/2 hours. The billing is another story. When the bill came, it was $925 with a note explaining that their labor is $42.50 per QUARTER HOUR. In other words they charge $170 per hour for labor. I think that is outrageous. When I looked at the labor charges on the bill, they billed me for 3 1/2 hours even though he was only here 2 1/2 hours. The "materials" charge was $330 and was not itemized. The only "materials" were the faucet itself ($150 at Home Depot) and 2 short pieces of hose. There was nothing special about the faucet. It was just a basic Moen faucet. The workmanship? Good. The billing? WAY too expensive and vague. Would I use them again? I don't think so.

I have used them once several years back. The workmanship was great. However, billing/invoicing was…read morequestionable, couldn't even separate materials and labor. And pretty pricey. Recently called them for a quote on a larger project, and the estimator was supposed to call me back. Never bothered. That alone would be a one star review. I granted the second star because of the previously good work they did. At a minimum show the courtesy to call an decline the opportunity to quote.
