Our room was quiet and comfortable with streamline furnishings and cost bed linens. Lounge on the 3rd floor provided the most amazing coffee machine (24/7) and daily breakfast muffins. Free parking in nearby lot or street is always a plus. Nearby Driftless Cafe and other great shops were fun. The owners and staff were very helpful providing tips and information that made our stay a delight. Hotel Fortney is a favorite spot for us.

Yes they are good she said her husband would be back to plow before morning when Im just getting off work and lay some sand down and it never happend. Took me 3 tries to get up the hill because it hadn't been plowed.

Beds were also very comfortable as well. My only complaint - while it was nice to have A/C, it didn't work super well. The beds are very nice Amish oak and the sheets were very high quality - smooooth. Everything was very comfortable! Outside the house we had a grill, swing, fire pit and lots of land to hike. Breakfast is not included in this suite but it was no problem making arrangements with Nora for a couple of mornings. We enjoyed talking with Pete, Nora and other guests - Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Georgia being represented this weekend. While relaxing at the Inn is no problem I would strongly recommend two side trips: 1) The Shrine to the Our Lady of Guadelupe in LaCrosse. It is a one hour drive and it is amazing! Check it out on Yelp. I put up some photos but they don't do it justice. 2). Pete and Nora had suggested two places to eat in the area. The pizza at the Country Gardens motel was darn good and the prices for pizza and the other menu items was darn reasonable. It's about 15 minutes away in Soldiers Grove. If you want 5 star food then you need to keep driving another 15 minutes to The Driftless Cafe in Viroqua. The Beef Tenderloin was Outstanding and the desserts (especially the carrot cake) were excellent too! Prices are a bit higher but well worth it for this very fresh and delicious meal! We heard from other guests that they went biking on the Sparta railroad trail and had a great time. Next time we'll bring our bikes.

We got to Dubuque, IA and started looking for hotels in 100 mile radius - EVERYTHING WAS BOOKED! So I started "Yelping" I saw this B&B had 5 stars and we know why ! It's immaculate! Gorgeous grounds, kept in perfect condition. We arrived late, and was warmly greeted by one of the owners, Pete. We all introduced ourselves and then made way to our cabin. It's a two bedroom adorable, good sized cabin. First bedroom has two twin beds, and the second bedroom has a queen bed, there is a large futon in the living room. Bathroom is good size with a stand up shower. The sweet cabin has a full size refrigerator and nice kitchen. It's very clean and well cared for. If you are in the area, don't pass this up!

The bar and restaurant is closed again, leaving the only option the rooftop. Last week I visited the roof top and found they didn't anticipate the weekend of activities in La Crosse. Every time we asked for a simple cocktail, it was oh we don't have cranberry juice up here,or simple syrup like it was unattainable?? It was like everyone was grumpy, like they were annoyed. I take this to mean the management is sloppy and the wait staff has to constantly improvise. It's not like the hotel has 24 floors? Asked for shaved Parmesan, for the pizza. The bar service acted like I was asking for moon cheese! Grudgingly they said no we don't have any here in the rooftop bar. At this point I noticed the manager standing sentinel and rather arrogant, stating that he "doesn't like cheese ", so I guess nobody does?

Read the FAQs, don't expect to be fed a whole lot to do--that's really not the point. I look forward to returning some day to experience what it's like in a different season and explore other roads and little gems in the Driftless.

There weren't a lot of instructions on where to find the remotes to the various electronics including the fan and the wifi did not work at all. The firewood was a bit expensive at 10$ per bundle. It was a small cozy little cottage and the owners made sure it had all the things you might need for a weekend getaway. The cabins are set in the beautiful hilly area of Driftless of Wisconsin and has absolutely stunning views. Might fo back to try a different cabin.

Shortly after completing the booking, I realized the error and immediately called your front desk to request a cancellation. I was directed to Expedia, who then reached out to you to request a refund waiver on my behalf. Expedia informed me yesterday that this property denied my request for a refund. I am having a difficult time accepting that there are no refund exceptions for simple human error. The time from reservation until cancellation was approximately 25 minutes. The room was not kept from available inventory, nor did I cause a loss of revenue. The room could have easily been re-booked by somebody else. I have reached out to the property several times to resolve this issue via phone and email. There has been absolutely zero response from management. This seems like extremely shady business practice.

Was not told about the 3 day rule for providing fresh towels, cleaning, etc. My sister is very ill and I drove from Chicago to see her in the hospital. Returned exhausted at 9:30 pm to a room that had not been touched or replenished with clean linens. Was then told about the 3 day rule. Towels were brought to the room later. The next day I was told that "my wife " knocked on the door and was told "everything was fine- didn't need anything". But, I was not there- I was at the hospital all day and evening. I could not have responded to her knock. Unfortunately this seems to be the only motel in W Salem. Her apartment is in W Salem. Driving further into La Crosse is inconvenient. This is a dilemma because I will need to return periodically to be with my sister.
