That Huntington Woods cleaner ruined a shirt of mine by melting a couple of buttons which were mother of pearl and replaced them with a cheap button. I gave that a second chance until they were charging me to dry clean for shirt that can be laundered (which is on the tag). They had no exceptions for my shirts so I left for Belding. Later, I later I found out they are affiliated with the Birmingham cleaner. Unfortunately, with my last order, they ruined a button on my shirt which is also mother of pearl (sounds familiar). Suspiciously, I looked at the bottom corner of my shirt and saw a sticky tag. This tag contains an id (believing to be a customer id) which is what the last cleaners did and this tag is a pain to remove. Sadly, this lead me to believe that they most likely sent out my shirt to be laundered and may be affiliated with the 2 cleaners listed above. Sadly, I need a new cleaner.

Much of the food is donated by local stores or restaurants. They get a ton of stuff into their warehouse. They always go through the daily protocol in the big conference room. You are to wear gloves and a hair cover and beard cover for those with facial hairs. Now you can add a face mask to the attire too. You start the event work around 9am and work until 11am to noon. The warehouse job is the hardest. I have sorted through some rough looking potatoes, to water logged and decrepit looking cucumbers and tomatoes. It makes you really appreciate the foods we can easily pick through at the grocery store to get the most appealing ones. Any sign of mold gets tossed. This is the hardest of the jobs, but also the most rewarding since it's labor intensive too. I have also had the pleasure of assembling sandwiches in the kitchen too, with wheat squares of bread, some meat like slices of pork meat of some sort and cheese too. Volunteering your time and energy is greatly rewarding and so helpful to those in need. This is a great center that gives back ro the community. At the end of your day, they will brief you on how many bags or boxes of food were boxed that day. It's the only day big the original big 3 OEMs groups can collaborate and work together side by side without any intellectual property issues too.

Starting with a local blood drive at my church, I was invited to join their Pheresis program. I became a successful participant and still look forward to helping others in this way. When I had a 'factory job' years ago, it was easy for me to set up appointments on a fairly regular basis. At that time, I was usually once a month in my visits. In the past few years, however, I have been an over-the-road trucker with a non traditional schedule, making my availability to donate unpredictable. The American Red Cross has come out with a phone app to assist in scheduling, keeping track of donations, locating local blood drives by ZIP code, etc. A major glitch occurred when I scheduled an appointment on the same day using their app. I showed up before my allotted time and waited just inside their front door for initial screening during the 2020 pandemic. I showed my appointment on the app, however, since my name didn't appear on their printed list, I was turned away. I was so sad. However, I found out that my local church was having a blood drive recently and I happily signed up. The app made it easy to schedule my appointment and everything went well. If you are looking to make a difference in people's lives, this can be a life-saving act of kindness towards those in your local community. Called and was told that I can bring the rugs to the store in Oak Park or the truck will come to my home and pick them up. I opted for the truck coming to my house to get them all. If you drop them off at the store they gave a discount. Be prepared to wait though! Lots of waiting for a phone call for them to update you on the progress of your rugs. I think overall from my first phone call to the rugs being re-delivered took over a month. Their communication was pretty good - they called to let know the status of my rugs and if I wanted certain extras like a stain resistant coat. The guys who came to get our rugs were professional and quick. They took 4 big area rugs and a hall runner. They never told you a price until the guys put all of your rugs back where they go in your home. So I wish they were more upfront about the price. The price was worth it based on how clean my rugs looked - they all looked new. All the stains and marks were gone! The guys who came to put the rugs back were patient with me trying to remember how the rugs were laid. Pro tip to take pictures of how your rugs were laid before they take them. They also would move my furniture so my husband and I could shuffle the rugs back in place.
