I purchased a key fob and two entrance locks from Midstate. I am getting up in age so maybe that was the problem. I couldn't get the entrance lock to work right. Jenni gave me the option to return the lock sets or have Rick come and install the lock sets for me. I had Rick come install them and they are working now. I ordered a remote key fob for a Smart car. EBay provider suggested MIDSTATE LOCK in Stevens Point. Owner quoted $120 to cut and program. After finishing cutting she took key to car for programming. Only 2 buttons out of 4 worked. She said she only guaranteed her $55 key, which is identical to my $20 Ebay key. Not only was the programming wrong even the cut only works one way instead of 2 ways. She said tough luck. Now I'm out $140. Hopefully she's out a LOT of customers. read more

Had an unfortunate accident with a key breaking off in our car top carrier. They were prompt in getting us an appointment. Knowledgeable and skilled at removing the broken piece of key. RUDE! RUDE! RUDE!. Franks hardware recommended ML&S for a specialty key that they couldn't make so I went there and waited with another gentleman in the lobby. After waiting awhile, I eventually called the # and got an angry woman who said she'd be right out and came out and scolded me for calling because it interrupted her other call. I apologized saying I didn't know she was on the phone and her response was 'Ya Right!'. I reminded her that I'm a customer and because of her very, very rude behavior will take my business else where there's respect for people. Her response, "Ya Go Ahead". I have a super power. It's locking my keys inside my car and apartment.  This time it was my car. Found these guys on Yelp and gave them a call. The girl on the phone was nice, but that she would ask me a little more specific information, but she did ask for my basic car info and my contact information. My worry was I was in a public parking lot on the UWSP campus and surrounded by plenty of cars...maybe I should have told her exactly where I was in the parking lot. Regardless she said they would be there in 10 minutes, which they were.  It was helpful that they were in a big obvious truck, so I knew it was them and waved them down.  The locksmith was very friendly and quick with his work. Pretty standard price (almost $60). Thanks guys for being so prompt, hopefully I don't lock myself out again! read more

My experience with this owner was horrible. As a business we understand the importance of customer service, something he clearly did not. We had an issue with our safe and when he discovered the problem he was very accusatory and demeaning. I am not sure what purpose it served for him to be like that as the damage was done and we just needed it fixed. When questioning him on his professionalism he continued to be rude to us and eventually decided to not complete the job. We ended up having someone else complete the work with no problem. This owner is not professional and very disrespectful. Will not use him again and do NOT recommend this company to anyone. read more

My fiance and I locked ourselves out of our apartment a few months ago for the first time. We were charged $60 for the service which was no big deal. Everything went smoothly. This was around 7pm-8pm at night. Last night we locked ourselves out for the second time, also around 7pm-8pm. This time, the locksmith was a bit rude. He charged us $90. When I questioned him about it he told me that he always charges $90 for apartment lockouts. I told him that last time it was $60, and he said that we'd paid a portion in quarters. Which we did, because it was what we had at the time. We paid about half in quarters, half on a card. Both my fiance and I remember this very clearly. I let it go and decided to deal with it in this morning. So it turned out that our door knob had been damaged during the lockout, so a maintenance worker came out and fixed it. While fixing it he discovered where the damage had occurred, and how. So I called the locksmith back and told him that the door knob had been damaged and brought up once again that last time it was $60. I tried to handle the matter professionally, but he was very curt and rude. He said that the last time we were locked out was during the day and that's why it was $60. As I mentioned before, both were at the same time of night. Finally he asked what I wanted and I said I really just wanted my $30 back. In these exact words, he said, "You want your $30 back? Come and get it." I hung up. I will not ever be using this service again, and I would advise everyone else not to as well if you don't want to be overcharged and have your door knob broken. read more
