I'm probably setting the women's movement back a few years by admitting this, but as a single…read morewoman, the prospect of homeownership is completely terrifying to me. I can barely change a lightbulb, and for years I put off buying because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of knowing how to fix things. But then I fell in love with a house, and everything changed. My realtor had set up a home inspection with another company, but when I looked them up, I saw tons of negative reviews. I figured that this would possibly be the most important investment I could make; I am not equipped to deal with a house that has lots of hidden issues. After seeing all the positive reviews for this company, I switched over. I could not be more pleased that I did. Dana explained everything in great detail and in language I could understand, and he went through the house with a fine-toothed comb. This home is a renovation, and everything is brand new, so my realtor expected us to be done with the inspection fairly quickly. Dana spent more time than he had to, explaining things to me, telling me about things I'd need to think of in the future regarding owning a home, and taking pictures of everything so that I have a record of where things are and what they do. Working with him allieviated all of my fears around us missing something that would end up becoming a huge expense to me. I felt like I had a favorite uncle looking out for me and making sure that he was giving me the guidance I needed in a process that is totally unfamiliar and kind of scary. I plan to be in my new home for a long time, but if I ever do decide to go through this process again, he will absolutely be the one I hire as an inspector!

We liked the work so much that we hired them back again for a second and third house inspection…read more Very thorough and professional.

I called Michael Sereti December 23th. At the beginning it was a nice chart he gave me information…read moreabout only available time on that week. I wanted to shop around and try to find other time earlier than he had available. I said I call him back in an hour, and I didn't want him to be dependent on me and hold time for me.... And he started yelling at me, screaming that he doesn't want to hold time wile I will shop around, that this is ridiculous, that I will check his credentials etc. So my initial experience of conversation was horrible. When you buy a property it's already a stress, and think guy how stars yelling at you at your initial call to him doesn't deserve to be part of home-buying process.

Although Mike Sereti pointed out some issues to us that were on the relatively minor side during…read morethe rather lengthy 4 hr-home inspection he did for our recent home purchase, he missed several key things that we are incredibly disappointed by. While he pointed out there was a "choke point" to the roof of the house, he inexplicably did not bother to closely inspect/scrutinize the respective interior of the house for signs of previous water damage (which were very much present and should have been obvious to any "expert" based on the extensive warped hardwood floors, evident re-plastered walls that are not smooth, and visible water staining on the ceiling). He also failed to point out all the *many* areas of trim rot, defective flashing, significantly uneven walkway and patio bricks that are a safety hazard and need repair, gutters that visibly need repair, and tile flooring in the house that were cracked/broken/uneven/loose and needed re-grouting in multiple rooms, in total amounting to several thousand dollars worth of repair work that would have been important to negotiate on with the sellers yet Mike failed to bring to our attention. The exterior things he missed were not even things that could have been missed due to the weather since our inspection occurred on a clear day before snow season had started. At the end of the inspection, he commented that there were a couple windows he found that were faulty and needed the springs replaced (which he did not point out to us as he found them, which any reasonable inspector should have done), but when we asked which windows they were, he brusquely gestured around ambiguously saying he couldn't describe exactly where they were in the house (?) but that he put dot stickers on them with a picture in the report... of course by the time we moved in, the dot stickers on the windows had long been removed by the sellers making it very challenging for us to go back and figure out which windows needed the repairs that he found. In addition, we wished he could have been more responsive the times we emailed him before and after the inspection when we had questions. And when he did respond, they would always be extremely short, one-line type emails. Also for some reason, once he completed the inspection report he sent it directly to us AND our real estate agent simultaneously which was not how it should have been handled per his own contract terms on his website which stated that the inspection report would be our (the buyers') sole property and would not be distributed to anyone else. It also seemed unprofessional and honestly not right that he was unable to provide us a copy of his contract, whether as an electronic downloadable version if not, minimally, a hard copy printout of his terms/conditions for the contract. When asked about receiving a copy that we signed online, he informed us he didn't have a way to give that to us other than as it appears on his website (?) How does someone run a business and yet not be able to provide a simple copy of the contract that customers are required to sign???
