We have been with Dr. Shoun for almost a decade. He is good with the kids, his staff is friendly, and the office is inviting.

could give zero stars I would. Avoid this dentist!!!! Been taking my kids here for 12 years…read more Including my step daughter that we have full custody of for 7 years. Was advised today that I could not sign her treatment plan because im the "step mom" ive been signing her treatment plan for 7 years, swiping my card for 7 years as well as been the ONLY one to take her to her dentist appointment for 7 years. Was told I need to show the custody paper work. They didn't ask for any custody paper work the last 7 years. Was then trying to explain how im always the one to bring her here and maybe there was a mistake to which I was dismissed. Mentioned seeking another dentist office. The staff seemed excited as they thru the treatment plan in the trash and stated they will make my kids inactive. This place is a joke. They have no problem with the " step mom" swiping her card every visit lol. Never have I ever been told I cant make medical decisions for a child that I have had full custody of for 7 years. Was told by staff when asked why nothing has ever been said before about signing and scheduling treatments was "I guess no one has caught it until now"

This place is so fun! Talk about inviting when you walk in! You feel like you are at the Safari!…read morePlus my son loved that he could play Pacman without coins! Text notifications were so helpful. Their process is smooth however none of the staff there seemed happy and they seemed overbooked. Too many kids there at once. Definitely a high volume office that has lost their personal touch. It was ok for a cleaning but as my son gets older we will find a more intimate office.

Being new to the area and South Carolina, my family was in need of a new dentist's office. I found…read moreGildner Family Dentistry of Lexington and loved the highly rated reviews, so I made appointments for the whole family. When I called the office to make appointments, I tried to get all three of us (my husband, son, and myself) scheduled at times near each other so that we can continue being seen bi-annually around the same time. The receptionist was unable to book the three of us at similar times for many months. My son had been experiencing some tooth pain, so I opted to have his appointment scheduled sooner while my husband and I took appointments at a later date. They were not able to schedule any of us on the same day. My son (6 years old) was seen. After he was seen, I was informed that the dentist thinks he may have a cavity that was causing pain, but that they couldn't verify this because they were unable to take x-rays on him. They didn't have the correct equipment (a smaller x-ray sensor that would fit in his mouth) to perform x-rays. They referred him to a pediatric dentist that doesn't accept insurance. Because the office performed a cleaning, multiple pediatric dentist offices would not see my son as they require that a cleaning be done for all new patients. Eventually I was able to find an office that would accept him as a new patient and had him taken care of. I wish I had known that they wouldn't be able to do x-rays on a child before they performed the rest of the services, as I would have instead taken him to a dentist that was better equipped to see smaller children in the first place. My husband and I both had appointments scheduled, but not together. The best the office could do was to see my husband on Wednesday and myself the next day, Thursday. The office contacted me the Tuesday before my appointment to tell me that the dentist had another appointment and needed to reschedule mine. The receptionist was trying to reschedule mine for more than a month away, which I balked at because again, I wanted to keep our appointments around the same time. After spending about 5 minutes on the phone trying to find a time that would work for us both, my husband sent me a text message to let me know that someone from Gildner Family Dentistry had called him to reschedule but that he was working and wasn't able to take the call. I told this to the receptionist and she said that she was mistaken, it wasn't my appointment that needed to be rescheduled (even though we had just spent at least 5 minutes trying to find an appointment for ME). She mistakenly told me that my appointment needed to be rescheduled when it was my husband's on a different day. She rescheduled his appointment for the following day, Thursday, to be immediately following my appointment. My husband made arrangements with his employer and changed meeting times with his work to accommodate their needed change. The morning of our appointments, the office called to let us know that they would need to again reschedule because the hygienist that we were to see was now unavailable. We're now looking to schedule appointments with another practice, but are now past our bi-annual cleaning date. We'll only be able to get one cleaning done this year because of the disorganization of this office. I found my interactions with this office to be extremely frustrating and unprofessional. While the office brands itself as a "family" dentist practice, it's unequipped to treat all me members of the family. The office staff are unorganized. Multiple rescheduled appointments cause more headache than it's worth. My family will seek treatment at another office. I did find the hygienist that treated my son to be very friendly. The dentist had good bedside manner and seemed knowledgeable. I did like the personalities of the staff, but can't look past the frustrating issues that we've encountered and feel that my family would be better off being treated by a different practice. I would not recommend this practice.

i want to be very clear the otho side of this office is amazing !!…read more on the other hand the dentistry side of this place is horrible . the manager payola who is running the show.. she is rude, disrespectful and just down right not a people person to be dealing with children she will block your number fron the practice (i had to use my husbands phone to call the practice) to where you can't call. she will gaslight you and make you feel like you are the problem. i had been communicating with this lady for a year and a half about appointments for my toddlers and still they have never been seen! luckly a year later i called the white knoll location and they were able to get in the same day! how convenient. if you run into this lady just know you are not the problem. this is just my experience

They're very patient with my daughters (6 & 10) and listen to them to make them as comfortable as possible. The dentist has been very explanatory about all services and procedures, she takes her time and doesn't rush us out. All of the assistants have been sweet as well. They let me go back with my kids and that makes my girls more comfortable. I love that they have TVs to help distract them, as well as nitrous oxide to keep them less anxious. I'd recommend them over and over.
