Well it ain't Hahhhvahhhd but even Harvard ain't what it's cracked up to be. This is a perfectly fine junior college, and it's actually nice to have a campus in the middle of this oil town. I took C (remember C?) there and the pace dragged a bit but the instructor was a super-friendly guy. Also took pottery there with a laid back, talented instructor who gave personalized attention. And you can jog, bike, or rollerblade on the loop around the campus as you swelter in the 104-degree dry heat. read more

Going to this college, I love all of the teachers that are their. They are well respected, and well knowledge within their line of work; however the office staff is horrible! They are NOT well knowledge in what they are doing, they are always screwing up, which frustrates the student, and it discourages them from wanting to continue their education. It is a great campus ( nicer, cleaner, and not trashy) the office staff lacks communication with all of the professors and chairs of the department and therefore I lack respect for Midland College. read more

This college is a joke! Even for a JC, The faculty- excluding the instructers, I am talking about administrative, are all incompetent! The not only sat on my FASFA for 3 months, they failed to award my grant until AFTER I had dropped 1800.00 on classes, lab fees, and books! In addition to this I was forced to take a developmental math course I have already successfully completed with a passing grade again. The grade is as they told me "OLD" i took the course in question in 2009- since when does math concepts change? 2+2=4 and will always equal 4 so this reasoning is beyond stupid! Whats worse is that I have taken the course several times before passing it prior. they are now charging me $500.00 to take this class plus and additional $118.00 for the book, which cannot be rented because of the course web code, and let me not fail to mention that I have to pay this when i have an award from FASFA of $5,500.00 just waiting to be downloaded! They waited past the book voucher deadline to process the award. Then when I call to ask about what is going on the outright LIED to me about my status! Its one thing to cover up that your department dropped the ball on a students classes or financial aide, they cannot even keep their stories straight as to what the hold up is, or give me accurate information as to when the correction can be expected to be complete! This is not the first time they have outright refused to honor a students credit, they did this to my sister in 1999, and my aunt in 2005. now me form 2009. and again in 2012. I suggest skipping Midland College all together and going wither to Odessa College or directly to UTPB, at least the staff knows what is going on and communicates well interdepartmentally. My husband and several friends and collegues have recieved their degrees from UTPB and have had NONE of the problems I have encountered at Midland College... My advice, Stay far far away! Go to UTPB and all of your classes are guaranteed to transfer or you can complete your degree there as they are a 4 year acreddited University! read more
