On top of that he is very responsive to email. He shows up on time (once when he thought he would be a little late he texted me about it and kept in touch; the delay was not large). His manners are impeccable, something I especially appreciate because I am uncomfortable with visitors. He would tune my pianos carefully, doing also unsolicited minor mechanical adjustments without additional charge, and even wiping the cabinet. I would get the impression that tuning a piano and keeping it in good working condition was an end it itself for him, whether I noticed or not. I just sold my two pianos, and Bill kindly agreed not only to talk with the prospective buyers at their convenience, but even to tune one of my pianos (which had gone flat) on short notice when a prospective buyer showed up and wanted to try it out. We watched in amazement as the three of them hauled the 500 pound piano up 8 steps and turned it on its side to fit into our door... in minutes.
