The sweetest bookstore tucked right in the heart of Middleburg! Their selection of young reader books is very well curated -- I am someone who browses a big box book store on a weekly basis and many of the options they had were completely new to me! The staff seems to really know the store inside and out and was really surprised when a guest came in with a very specific request and they knew just where to find it. I ended up leaving with a new winter cozy read and can't wait to dig in. Love supporting local, woman-owned businesses like this one. read more

This was an amazing bookstore out in Middleburg. One of the shopowners heard us talking about books we like and came over and chatted with us about other books we should check out. She seemed like she'd nearly read every book in the store! She was so friendly and helpful and the store was chock full of popular new releases and a fun selection of cookbooks, YA, and children's books as well. Highly recommend! read more

What a dream right in the middle of downtown! I was so impressed by how thoughtful the booksellers recommendations were. She gave me two excellent options and brought me into the story for both. I ended up leaving with two nonfiction and two fiction books in addition to a few wonderful locally curated cards and stickers. Visitors with kids will love their adorable and well stocked children's book section! I also overheard that they have a local booksellers program which sounds so lovely! We can't wait to return. So I did not go to Middleburg Books myself. But you ask - why are you leaving a 5 star review? Well my bff sent me a surprise birthday book package. Apparently they offer a surprise gift box she had to get me!! She said she told the shop about me and they curate a surprise package! It was so good I assumed my friend picked out all the gifts. When she asked what books I got I was very confused. Then she explained the process and that it was a surprise. I was shocked. They hit the nail on the head!! I even said the one book sounded like it was in Stars Hollow! So I assumed my friend picked it out. That's when she said she told them I like Gilmore Girls, dogs, pottery, flowers, and a book with a happy ending. Ignore the dog snoot in the pics. Rory (yes Gilmore Girls reference) was concerned that I was touching her gifts. The package had lovely crinkle paper to protect everything and the books had bookmarks and cute bows! read more

Had a GREAT time while visiting Middleburg Books this weekend. They have an amazing selection of books and their staff members were so helpful! I would like to give a big shoutout to Shayne who was exceptional and extremely kind. I asked for some recommendations and she went above and beyond to get me a good selection of options. She was fabulous at giving me a short description about the books she recommended and even came looking for me to give a few more options later on. We loved the location and the newly renovated space with all of the coordinating colors. The staff knows books and is able to help guide you to the genre you enjoy or pick out a gift. There is a wide selection especially based on the size of the store. They have a great kids section and encourage kids to touch not just look. The store is an indie and locally owned. Having made a trip to Middleburg in no small part to check out this new bookstore, I really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, that was not in the cards. The space is lovely, but the sales staff was exhausting. The entire time we were browsing, a woman - the proprietor? - was very loudly and somewhat aggressively approaching customers and talking their faces off. My husband and I both remarked it was too loud to think and not what we expect from a bookstore. When she asked me if I was interested in a title, I said I was looking for Outofshapeworthlessloser by Gracie Gold. In a dismissive and condescending tone, I was told that "we find celebrity biographies don't sell well in Middleburg." I responded that it was actually a New York Times best selling memoir by a two-time national champion and Olympian. Flummoxed, she offered to order it for me. No, thanks. Don't (inaccurately) insult a book and then try to sell it to me. The women left me to loudly share her child's chess exploits with a woman shopping in the children's section and we quickly left for the quiet of Middleburg's other shops. read more

This bookstore is awesome and well worth the trip if you live anywhere around the DMV area. They have an outstanding selection with lots of variety and the staff is helpful, kind, and super knowledgeable. And the decor just makes it a very pleasant place to peruse. I loved chatting with them and I was able to easily find great books that I gave as gifts to my family at an affordable price. Highly recommend making a visit to this charming spot.
