We had the "house tray" intended for 2 or 3. I found the portions of beef and chicken shawarma to be on the small side. The kafta, on the other hand was quite generous. Rice portion was very generous in size. Flavors were very good and very authentic. Service was much slower than expected. The restaurant was not busy, yet we waited for food. A drink order was missed and check-ins by our server were very infrequent. We happened to choose the restaurant because they were having an advertised e-mail holiday special giving 15% off of the house tray. The server was unable to process this discount as her Mgr was not in. Our server did comp our cocktails which was above the price of the discount (for both the missed drink order as well as the discount issue). The issue of not being able to process an advertised discount was experienced by our daughter a few weeks ago. Very disconcerting trend. Ambiance was nice except overall room temp was very (nearing uncomfortable) warm. Rugs in the divan could stand to be cleaned. Overall, we will return. But this step downward has me very concerned.

I have been dying to try this restaurant but I was very bummed by the result…read more I ordered takeout - the Cairo's Feast, side of hummus, and pita bread. The "feast" - the rice was absolutely fabulous and would eat that again and again. However the meal contained *very* little meat and was almost all rice. It was also missing some falafel and contained only one rather than the pictured 3. The meat itself (both beef and chicken) was flavorful, well-seasoned and had good texture but such a tiny, tiny amount for the price. The one falafel it came with was ok in flavor but was mostly soggy from being smothered in the garlic sauce which was both unexpected and undesirable. The hummus tasted fine but was pure liquid which I am not used to. The pita was fine, neither was it good or bad. I rarely review unless I'm blown away or super disappointed. 3 stars because the rice and meat had good flavor - but the execution was terrible and the outcome was super disappointing for the price. Overall not a good experience and I won't be back. Too bad, I was so excited for this place.

Having spent time in the Middle East, including in Jordan, along with having lived for several years in the metro Detroit area, I have a deep love for true and authentic Middle Eastern food. Whatever is listed online is not accurate it seems. No voicemail with hours, nothing on the door. Facebook will show they are currently open when they are not. They are not always open when Google or Yelp says they are, so who knows? Not reliable at all. Overall, the food is average. The shish tawook sandwich, baklava, ghallaba, and hummus are good though. Here is some info from previous experiences... I got an order with half the items missing once and have received the wrong order other times as well. I do not like the lentil soup here. I got the lemon tawook and it was way too salty, and I like my salt. Salad is just ok, not worth what they charge. I got a side of beef skewer one day and it was fatty and low quality. Potassium broth is mostly carrot juice here and they put it in 2 cups instead of plastic bottles like other places do. I am used to the Mediterranean food in Dearborn and this is not great. Cheesesticks were gross. It was an odd texture like sawdust/mealy. It did not come with any sauce. Just weird. Unfortunately, this is the only Mediterranean place in the area.

Everything was okay. Quite heavy. The Mandi was a novelty, but ultimately the ayasofya pizza was a let down. It tasted more like a casserole with the thick heavy base, and did not have the Mediterranean taste we came to love in our time living in the Middle East. This felt like a poor facsimile of American pizza with some Turkish toppings. These two items came to $38 quite a premium for two items. It does keep you full though... I won't be hungry again today.
