Extremely poor quality control and damage. Brought my car here for service but it was released to me with completely non functioning hand break~~ a major safety hazard I only discovered after parking the vehicle. Returned the next day, supervisor apologized and admitted he never the car before releasing it. To make matters worse, when they lifted the car to inspect the brake issue, they did not position it properly in the hoist alignment machine. This negligence resulted in a fresh dent under my vehicle. I am highly disappointed with the lack of oversight, poor workmanship, and property damage at this location. I was a reoccurring customer at Kingsway Midas for multiple years and then I had my 2006 Jeep come in and got an estimate on replacing. The power steering pump was to be $188 but it ended up they tried to charge me 1000160 and then when they saw my reaction, they ended up charging me close to $800., They literally charge me $340 plus taxes just to install a pump and then went to charge me another $400 for the pump!... they will rob you and smile in your face and the worst part is it took him 45 minutes to write up the invoice because the Mandale at the front desk was clearly robbing me and changing the invoice so that he could overcharge me... I feel disgusted and want everyone to know not to go there especially if Dale is working, he will rob you! read more

Tony is rude & sarcastic. Went for a checkup on my car on a snowy day because it was the only store that had the 'Open' sign on. Not only did he try and shove me towards Mr. Lube, he made the sarcastic 'have you seen the weather outside' remark like what do you think? Returned a few hours later and when getting information on my car, kept trying to correct me by saying it's a GTS or ES model when I know that after 11 years of operating my car, it's obviously a GT. When diagnosed with a cracked muffler I only wanted to ensure that I can fix it at a later time since I had to drive to VancouverIsland for work the next day... He said that I can drive it & then adds nonchalantly 'there might be some Carbon Monoxide in your car'. That's fatal poison. An absolute jerk. Charged me $33 for a 5 minute operation having a mechanic use 3 ZipTies on the grate under my car. read more

This is an update from my previous review re. wheel bearing ripoff. It appears from 3 independent auto mechanics that there is no indication that any work had been performed to access the wheel bearing in my vehicle even though I was charged 563.25 for the repair. What surprises me is that the Midas muffler organization allows crooks to manage their shops. This manager Dale believes he can charge the customer and not do anything in return. Take away the one star and avoid this shop and avoid the Midas touch like the current plague. read more

Stay away from this place like the plague. My vehicle was working fine and I just needed a simple oil change. After I brought my vehicle here, my car started leaking and had troubles starting, I even walked out of this place with a $1500 quote for work that needed to be done. Luckily, I know a mechanic and got a quick second opinion. He looked at the car and instantly saw that the screws were NOT tightened after the oil change and was able to tighten them by hand. He used a tool to reinforce it and instantly stopped leaking and now, no troubles starting. The sad thing about this is, my friend had the same issue with this place. The engine light turned on and got a second opinion by another mechanic and saw that a part was missing. When they took it back to discuss the situation, a mechanic was able to tighten the bolt by hand proving that the proper procedures weren't taken. read more

Great, informative, and quick service done here after an awful customer service experience at the OK Tire next door. I first went into OK Tire to ask about a simple tire patch repair, and not only was the manager I spoke to rude and condescending, he also told me that he couldn't repair it because the tread was too worn, and that my "only" option was to buy all new tires. I asked again to clarify that there was no sort of temporary fix to at least get me through the day, and he again said no, and that all I could do was spend $1000 there on new ones. Obviously, I knew this was BS. Anyways, I then went to the Midas next door and had my tire promptly repaired no problem - I believe the technician's name was Justin. He told me the % of tread I have left on my tires and even told me about the indicators so that I can tell for myself. Himself and another staff member (Edwin, I believe) were both extremely kind and helpful. I definitely recommend this establishment as I'd say my experience was 10/10 from start until end. read more

LOL Can I not give a star? Two months ago, got all my brake/pads/light revamped and fixed (or so I thought caused the employees told me). Now, I go to my go-to mechanic (not Midas) because my car started to squeak when I pressed my brakes. My go-to mechanic tells me " What fix? Sure they replaced the back brake but the front one only has 20%" I may not be well acquainted with pricing, but I AM PRETTY DAMN SURE $900 FOR 1 BACK BRAKE , ONE BRAKE DOESNT COST THAT MUCH. LOL not to mention the first time, they didn't even fix the brake light & I needed it for a road test (ended up not being able to take the test). Had to go back to a different Midas (not this one) and get it fixed. Was gonna let it go, like Shame on me for not checking, BUT THE HECK is $900 FOR LYING TO ME SAYING YOU REPLACED EVERYTHING. read more

I usually go to the Main location (had great service there). I decided to go to this location (Kingsway) for alignment. The alignment was off. I drove for a while and switch the 2 front tires in case it's a tire pull. NOPE; still pulled to the left. Brought it back. YES, it was off and now fixed. Drives straight. (#1 Strike) When the re-alignment was done, has 2 rods re-re $294. Done. Told my rear shocks needed replacement. Was quoted $739. I got quotes of 530, 501 and 440 at other shops. The first two are other Midas. (#2 Strike) I am not going for a third strike. Quality control from CALL-BACKS. Should be more careful quoting customers, I had no idea and if I did that job that day I would have been out $300 which I could feed my baby! Also wasted my time that I could be with the family on a CALL-BACK. How many of you want to waste your life waiting in a cold waiting room. No WIFI like the other location. read more

Holy moley these guys tried to rip me off so bad! My wife wanted me to get the brakes in our car checked so I brought it to Midas for a free inspection. 20 minutes later one of the guys there takes me aside and tells me (with a smile, no less) that my brakes are in big trouble and I'd need new brakes, calipers, pads and all this other stuff I have no idea about. He said that it should be done right away and I'd be endangering my family if I didn't. Oh, that and it was going to be around $1600 to $1700 for everything. Well I took my car across the street to Speedy (Kingsway location) for a second opinion and the guy there told me to come back in 6 months for another inspection, but that everything was fine for the time being. Six months later I went back and he told me to come back again in another 6 months. In summary, stay away from these crooks. I'd hate to see anybody get scammed like that. read more

Came in to get a simple 4 wheel alignment with the 79$ coupon. They took my car for a drive and when the mechanic came back he said that my shocks and my struts were all broken and needed to be replaced. They declined to give me a wheel alignment and handed me a bill of 1600$. The next day I went to my mechanic that I've always gone too and they said there was nothing wrong with my car. I went here because I was leaking brake fluid like nobody's business and it was right down the street from my place. My dad has always had good experience with Midas in Calgary so I decided to give them a shot and find out what exactly was wrong with my brakes. After about 20 minutes of waiting without being acknowledged by the guy at the front desk, I finally managed to grab someone's attention to figure out the problem. Without even looking at my car, he said that my master cylinder was kaput (because apparently someone had come in a year earlier with the same make and model and that was his problem). He said he would call around to his suppliers and find out if he could get me a master cylinder for cheaper than the $700 the manufacturer was offering for a new part, took down my name and number, and said he would call me as soon as he found anything. He quoted me about $400 for the cylinder and $300 for labour. Two weeks (and about $100 of brake fluid) later, I decided to give them a call and find out if they had a part for me. The same guy told me I had to come in so he could get my VIN and admitted he hadn't had a chance to begin looking for the part. I brought my car in for him to get my VIN and then didn't hear anything ever again from the shop. Finally, I gave up on them and just ordered a cheap used part off of eBay. I went to Grandview Auto and they told me that it wasn't my master cylinder but a valve, and that it was incredibly strange that the guys at Midas hadn't even looked under the hood before diagnosing the problem. The valve ended up costing $50, and the labour $200, a significant difference from the $700 nightmare I was looking at from Midas. I was glad the master cylinder I bought off of eBay was only $60 or else this would have been a costly and ineffective repair, still leaving me without usable brakes (which in my driving experience are pretty important). Overall, I'm incredibly disappointed. Like the majority of students, I'm no mechanic and I wanted to be able to find a place where I could trust what the 'experts' were telling me. These guys didn't even glance at my car before telling me I was looking at a huge bill, nor did they follow up when they said they would. Stay away! read more

On our way out of town today we stopped to run an errand and suddenly the car won't start. We got to Midas where we met Garry the assistant manager - he fit us in right away and told us what the potential problems could be. A quick diagnostic later and he had a price quote for us (luckily was just a minor fix) and we were on the road again within half an hour. Great customer service, honest, affordable, and efficient. I agree with the first review, these guys are ripping people off, Chun tried to tell me that i need a new resonator and outside muffler and after i told him i have warranty, he said all is not cover by warranty, so he said if i want it all fixed, it will cost me around 450.00, so i said waittttttttttt, it doesn;t sound right and i get out of there.I went to google any reviews on any Midas shop and i found out that there is, this branch is really all for the money crooks and liar. Why cant you just be honest. I wonder what other car owners are charged there. There is only one review when i google, but it really made impact , specially it is this bad. I brought my truck in to get an oil change the brake pads replaced and they said that the calipers, rotors, and pads all needed to be replaced and it would be $897+tax. It seemed high (and I wasn't expecting that much work, since the brakes were still working fine), so I told them to just do the oil change and I'll get a second opinion about the rest and maybe come back. They charged me the regular price for the oil change, but an additional $30 in labour just for inspecting the brakes. The shop across street quoted me $795+ tax for the exact same job, and offered to do a free inspection first to make sure that all of the work was necessary. I'll never be going to Midas again, what a rip off! read more

1pm drop off my flat tire..i gave him my number and he told me he will call me before 5pm..whats when it closes..at 445 I head there..no phone calls from the midas guy (dale). when I got there he says my tire is not fixable..would be nice if he called beforehand and told me. anyways I ask him how much it would cost for the new tire..got no reply..instead he went to help another customer..bad service, bad attitude..i took my tire back and we some elsewhere. the other shop patched my tire and it work fine..i guess these guys at MIDAS ARE LAZY or don't know what they are doing.. ashame for midas to have people like this representing them.. read more

Went in to get brakes replaced in front due to caliper siezing and rotor grinding down was way overcharged for new calipers pads and rotors on front. I came back to the states and paid half that cost for the same exact on my rear brakes. I guess I paid for the convenience of getting in the day of. Oh wait I got in day of in the states too. Stay away from this place! They will rip you off. I went there for balancing my wheels, they told me that my brake pads and most likely the calibers need to be replaced and they gave me a quote. Two days later, I called them and the guy over the phone gave me a different quote (more than what I have been told 2 days back, total dishonest). I went there to replace my front break pads, and after I left, they gave me a call letting me know that the rotors need to be resurfaced and the rear brakes need servicing. The thing is, they never tell you about resurfacing the rotors until you leave your car, then they call claiming that they can't install the pads on the old rotors without resurfacing, so you can't say no. It is their common practice to resurface the rotors according to what the guy said when I went to pick my car up. However, they only give you a quote of the brake pads as a bait. Eventually I took my car after paying a bill of 400 dollars just for replacing the front brakes and servicing the rear brakes. Man, I wish I have done all the needed maintenance in the dealership, they already offered me less than what I paid there. And by the way, the price they tell you is different from what they charge. And when I figured out that I was even overcharged 10 dollars, he said I don't know what I should do now and with a smile he said, I owe you $10 and signed a card for me with " owe 10 dollars" for next time. I wish I had read the reviews. I took my car in for an oil change and had my winter tires put on the car. First they told me my battery was registering so low they did not know how I could have even started my car. I told them I just bought a new battery so they re-tested it for warranty purposes and found out it was just fine, said the first test was from a port not right at the battery. Then they said I need a brake fluid flush 85.00 even though I had just had my brakes and rotors replaced. They cut my air filter 60.00 for the interior of the car so I had to replace it, granted it was pretty dirty but why cut it??? They put my tires( on fancy rims) into these nice neat white bags, and you figure this out. That night with five stacks of tires in the back yard my summer tires and rims go missing!!! I will never be back to Midas and I will share my story with as many people as I can! Don't give out your home address when you go in for an oil change and tire rotation!!! read more

My regret that I didn't read reviews first...I went here for oil change/maintenance check. When I left the shop I noticed a strange unusual sound in my engine. I ignored it, thought it'd pass, but couple of days more the noise bothered me so I went back. The manager was very defensive and lying that he didn't hear the sound and made a lot of false reasoning. I wasn't stupid to not know and understand my car...After diagnosis, they found out it was part of the job they did --meaning they broke my car. He apologized after, but still, even if they free the labor I ended up paying 395 bucks for the parts...He gave me a free oil change for next time. But NO, thanks! Enough of your crappy job! My mind is blow with how poor the service is at this location. I spent $1000 on a tune up on my older car. I primarily brought it in after the car started having a issue with staling and struggling with speeds over 90km/h. They give back the car and tell me its all good to go. I mostly use it for 15km drives to work and it had been doing fine for about a month. This weekend i took it on my first trip out of town and 30 mins into driving on the highway the thing starts to struggle the engine light comes on and it dies on me. I manage to get it back to the shop and their amateur mechanics cant seem to find anything wrong with it. Beyond that they refuse to take any responsibility for any of the previous work that has been done and the extent of the help i got was a recommendation to take it to a different location. These people are useless. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless you need a mechanic to dance around your issues and find everything else wrong with your car that doesn't involve fixing it for the biggest bill possible. i went there today at about 3 45 pm cause i had my exhaust done there.anyways when i went to get my exhaust there was like different guy there then now.the chinese guy that works there is an old bald guy.he was so into talking with her that didnt even acknowledge that i was even there for a long time after about 25 minutes i kind of coughed still nothing til he finished with her few min later.told the guy i had my exhaust done there and its loose or something and it drags a bit.he tells me the car is lowered and that i would have to come back tomorrow i told him i cant its dragging .he said maybe next next week ok i said no.but i had to take it somewhere just down the block from there.that guy told me to leave it with him .he looked at the bottom with flashlight and he said one of the pipes is broke will be abt 150 or bit less.i said fix it .i am so disappointed with midas i spent so much money there last year .it was an arab guy there before .i think its the same piece i am getting fixed now .the other guy year ago knows who i am with the honda crx .wonder who the owner is of this place cause the business practice there is right out of control. read more
