I have new information about the Carinspect review that I submitted 3 months ago. I had a rude and…read moresomewhat frightening experience with the inspector who contacted my at my _personal_ email address while not going through the normal Carinspect system. He asked me to improve my rating of him on the review I left for carinspect. Now, by itself this is just highly unprofessional and casts a bad light on CarInspect. But if this guy knows my email address and contacts me outside of supervision, then it shows my vulnerability to him. If he, or another carinspect mechanic were sufficiently angry, they could pursue me and threaten me. Carinspect must give this urgent attention and should tell the staff that if they ever contact a customer (outside of Carinspect's supervision) to complain about their rating then they should be immediately FIRED!

I purchased a car after having it inspected by CarInspect, and their report gave the car an 'A' rating, noting only that the tires would need replacing soon. Fast forward a month and a half later, and this car has been to the garage five times with $4,200 in repairs, and the problem is still unresolved - a major oil leak. Of course, the warranty offered by CarInspect (because the vehicle met the criteria), doesn't cover this type of issue. I contacted them, but they claim they have no responsibility in this matter. However, in the name of customer satisfaction, they have offered me a 20% refund of the inspection fee, which amounts to about $40... Their response feels like a joke, especially considering the size of the bill and the quote I sent them. CarInspect claims to offer thorough inspections to help you avoid buying a lemon, but following their report, I ended up with something closer to a pasta drainer - leaking oil everywhere... Needless to say, I don't recommend CarInspect at all.

I went back to have this fixed, only to be yelled at and told that it was impossible to get my wheel straight because my lower ball-joints were loose (upper ball joints and tie rod ends were brand new 2 days before, and the lowers were a year old) . I Was belittled and told I didn't know what I was talking about, and told that I would have-to get my ball-joints changed then pay them again to straighten it. I was then told that he could never get it straight because my rear tires were worn out as well... After arguing with him for about 20 minutes, I decided to leave and go home. Upon arriving home, I climbed under the truck and did exactly what I told him they needed to do as I had paid for an alignment. I fixed it myself in 20 minutes by shifting the tie rod end adjustment from one side to another. Don't go to this shop, these guys are incompetent, rude, and a disgrace to customer service. This is the first time I've brought my car to a mechanic not under my supervision in 13 years of owning vehicles, and likely the last.
