Here's my nightmare experience at Raffi Garage: I brought my…read morecar in on Oct. 8 to have the bumper replaced and the moment I started the car when I was leaving after the repair, it sounded unusually loud. I should've gone back right away but I continued on because I had lots to do and I told myself that maybe I'd just forgotten what it sounded like, not having driven it for a few days while it was in the shop. I had the car washed, brought it home and didn't drive it for a week. I started up the car today(a week later)and realized that it's definitely loud - not normal. I went back to Raffi's & he came outside and told me to start the car. The moment I started the car to let him hear for himself, he pointed to a part of the car near the front and said "it's the catalytic converter. Come inside. I'll jack it up and show you." When it was jacked up he pointed to a hole in what he called the 'catalytic converter'. It was perfectly fine when I brought it in and there suddenly being a hole in it when I left led me to believe that someone there tampered with it. As well, I had told them when I brought in the car that I wanted to sell it and asked if they were interested in buying it. So It's also possible that they did something in order to offer a lowball price. When I told him that it didn't seem plausible that it happened that way, that it would suddenly have a hole in it, and I didn't understand why there wasn't even a gradual increase in noise, just a new noise only when it came out of their garage, Raffi asked in a sarcastic tone "OK, so how do you think it happened?" I replied "it's possible that somebody here tampered with it in order to have me come back and do an expensive repair". I never got to finish my sentence though because he started yelling very loudly and aggressively about how insulted he was and that I should just get out and he just kept on and on, "How dare you..." etc.... At this point, someone else who works there said "I was there when you left and I didn't hear anything." First of all he wasn't standing near the car when I drove off and in any case he was clearly lying because 10 minutes later, he comes up with "I heard that noise when you came in - it was already like that!" Those contradictory statements alone show that he, for one, was lying. Everyone I've told about this agrees that things don't add up. In the meantime I'm bringing the car to be evaluated. I'm getting ready for an expensive move across the country and was trying to get the car into good shape to sell in order to raise some money. They've certainly ruined that for me. UPDATE: I brought my car to the dealership and they told me that my catalytic converter is fine, that it's the flex pipe that had a hole in it. This is a much less expensive fix. They even took a photo for me which I have. I asked their mechanics how likely it is for this to happen suddenly and they said it would NOT happen suddenly. The upshot is that Raffi's employee lied to me, first about not hearing the noise when I left, and then about hearing the noise when I first came in(implying that it was an existing problem - guess he couldn't make up his mind!), Raffi told me I needed a much more expensive part and repair job which were absolutely unnecessary, and the worst part is that two experts told me that this wouldn't have happened suddenly, at least not unless it was 'man-made'. Now on top of the stress and expense of a cross-country move, I have additional stress and expense from having brought my car to the wrong people. I filed a complaint with the Office de la Protection du Consommateur and I'm looking into what other recourse I have.

I have an extremely old car, other places offered a lot of treatments, Raffi was very honest about my car he told me what needs to be done and why I should not invest almost any money in the car (its gonna die soon as he said). The last time I came he checked the car and didnt even charge me (you have an old car you will need the money). Its hard to find an honest car expert, I found Raffi !

MTA Motors in LaSalle cheated me and continue to do so. They "repaired" my car by sticking random,…read morejagged pieces of metal in the throttle, for which they charged me $400. SEE PHOTO BELOW for their "REPAIR". This allowed just enough air flow to get the car home. It was then dead. They would not return my calls or letters. I had a letter sent by "Office de la protection du consommateur", whom they also ignored. MTA is in their files as a business running illegal operations. I took MTA to court and won. The judge actually laughed when she saw the "repair." MTA staff ignored the court's asking for a response to my claim, and did not bother to show up at the hearing. Their contempt for customers and Quebec's court process is shocking. The judge awarded me the $400 MTA had taken me for, plus my court costs. MTA is still giving the court and myself the finger by not paying what they have been legally ordered to. PHOTO of Court judgement and order to pay below. MTA is in violation of two Consumer Protection laws. They are ignoring the Court judgement, refusing to pay what they are legally required. As for my car, it turned out the problem was with the fuel pump, at the other end of the vehicle. MTA didn't even have a clue what could be wrong, as they obviously did not do the diagnostics I paid for. Another mechanic has had it running just fine for over a year now. In retaliation for my trying to collect my court-ordered money, MTA has created a fake Facebook profile mocking me. If you deal with MTA, beware!

Realistically speaking, this place is worth gros max 3 stars...but i like it and i get good service…read more...so despite it being a bit on the pricey side and the attendants being sourly it gets 4 stars from me. Things i like: - it's close to home ...lettin the needle damn near drop below empty is nooooo problemo! - they pump the gas...no gettin outta the car, on a winter day: that's worth the higher gas price! - it's a pop n son kinda place ...love the community vibes - gas station + méchanique générale + tires n shtuff fo sale... In the neighborhood... Nice lil local place despite the franchise anyways. - it's fairly tidy...they don't appear to accumulate too much scrap or dead cars so tha's pleasant too - they fixed the nail that deflated my car tire in less than 20 minutes without RDV, just showed up in the mornin n boom all done! Update 2017-05-04: I showed up at 11:40 and by 11:55 i got 2 screws pulled from my tires 35$ cuz one screw didn't cause a leak and put 20$ gas in ...and they were fairly sweet today lol! What would likely keep most ppl from coming back...or coming at all: - gas price higher than most on any given day ...1.29/L just last wk ouch! (was 127 at the pricier places in town) - pop can be quite, quite sourly sometimes, even if ur super duper friendly with him...son isn't much friendlier for that matter. Can sometimes get a bit of a side smile out of 'em if ur reallllllyyyyy tryin lol - it's a bit small n tucked into a very residential area so manoeuvring in and outta there sometimes takes skill. Sometimes impossible because it does actually get pretty packed at random times. - it is just a franchise so it's nuthin worth goin outta ur way for... - that fixed tire ...less than 20 minutes sure ...but 20$ seemed a bit pricey imo for a piece of gum, well appreciated as it was. Update 2017-05-04: at Walmart's M.Lube it woulda cost 30$ per tire, so it's actually not a con after all, it's cheaper here. Anywoot, they're decent if ur in the area.
