As polite and affable as they were, they're still the definition of the age old mechanic's grift. My truck, per their own admission, had one ball bearing that had MAYBE 1/8th" of play beyond what's acceptable for a VA inspection. On top of that, the inspector then added, I shit you not, an entire idler arm (a $60 part they invoiced for $150.99) because the bushing had a ~millimeter of play. But no worries, they can fix it all for $1,000 and the parts are right there! Even the manager, Marco, who was quite polite and professional outside of defending his tech's bullshit, acknowledged that the idler arm charge was a bridge too far. Take your car here at your own risk, because I guarantee you they'll "find" something wrong with your vehicle, but out the goodness of their hearts they'll be willing to fix it for a fee with a comma in it. Disingenuous staff- i really liked everyone I spoke to until I realized they were con artists and will bait you into giving them money so Mark Davis can pay for his next bullshit commercial. I'll be taking my truck to literally any other shop in the world where it will pass inspection with flying colors. read more

This place is truly amazing. I'm a single mom and I was honestly expecting to have some hidden fees added at the end which most places do. They were transparent about everything from the jump, providing pictures, actually taking the time to sit and explain to me what it is that needed to be done, with proof. I strongly advise staying away from this place. They will overcharge you on everything. I had no choice but to come here when my front driver-side brake caliper failed, damaging the rotors and wearing down the brake pads. The prices they quoted me were at least 50% higher than what the Ram dealership would charge. I ended up paying $1,619 for the work, which is outrageous. * Left caliper: $474.98 + $109.44 labor = $584.42 * Replace front rotors: $295.98 + $218.88 labor = $514.86 * Bleed brakes: $45.99 + $57.89 labor = $103.88 * Install front disc brake pads: $88 + $120 labor = $208.88 Never have I ever had to pay so much for labor. Not even the dealership charge this much. I have over 230k miles on this van never over payed. How many times do you think I've been to the mechanic. These people are complete rip-offs. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! I'm from out of state and couldn't keep driving in that condition, so I had to pay up. The bald guy with the unusual arm was the one who gave me the prices. He even tried to charge me $200 for a cabin air filter that I had previously bought for $70 at Jiffy Lube. I overheard another customer telling the same guy that his car had been sitting there for four days with no update. I'll be posting this review on Google and Yelp as well. I review all businesses I visit, and I repeat--STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Only go for basic services if absolutely necessary. At 435.00 it was more expensive than going to a side place but it is under warranty they were courteous and fast I was very surprised. They are definitely on the higher end, but definitely worth it any time my car has a problem I always take it to Midas they fix me up and have my car running like brand new. I recently had some troubles with my extended warranty company and they definitely won the war for me. I trust them with my car 100% plus when you call ahead they sometimes have a courtesy car waiting available for you which helps out big time not having to worry about how you're going to get to and from while they fix your car I absolutely love Midas. October 21,2022 - Came in for Maintenance Service. At this time, the following services were rendered: Remove and Replaced Rear Quick Struts, Computerized 4 Wheel Alignment was implemented. The results indicated that 2 Rear Strut Mounts needed to be replaced, the Seat Belt needed to be replaced to meet state requirements. Marco, Team Leader, showed me the issues and explained to me why it was necessary to address these issues. He was very professional, patient and displayed a pleasant attitude. April 11, 2023 - Came in with a Power Steering Issue. the Steering Rack was removed and replaced . April 13, 2023 - Came in to have the rubber around the Driver Side Window be replaced. The parts to repair the issue needed to be ordered. Marco communicated with me and informed me of the status of the arrival time of the the order. The schedule was adhered to in a timely manner. My son had his 2004 Camry towed to Midas on Hull Street. ($75) When my son forwarded the quote for a battery, alternator, and belt I was certain it was a typo so I called. Nope. The quote was $1,118. I said to give me the best price for a re-manned alternator and belt. I would get a battery at Costco for $99. Here is the revised quote break down: Alt - $349.00 Belt - $89.00 Labor - $254.21 Diagnostic fee - $39.88 SHOP SUPPLY - $53.22 (They did this to my other son on tires - I got it refunded) Tax - $29.59 TOTAL = $816.88 I asked that they push it back outside and had it towed to Express Oil Change and Tire Engineers over by Costco. (another $75) They repaired it and installed my Costco battery (no labor charge) for $354.00 Repair - $354.00 Costco battery - $99.00 Towing X 2 - $150 (State Farm covers $100) = $50 Midas diagnostic fee (plus tax) - $42.94 TOTAL COST: $545.94 LESS THAN HALF OF THE COST OF THE MIDAS QUOTE EVEN AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TWICE AND PAYING MIDAS DIAGNOSTICS FEE. I got charged $382 ( including $25 shop charge..lol) to diagnose/replace 4 spark plugs. You get charged their full hourly rate of $158.88 for a 20 min diagnostic. I appreciate that mechanics are highly skilled but the total charge was ridiculous for a fairly simple fix. I will say they are professional and they do good work but next time I will be going to someone just as professional who charges a reasonable rate. read more

I dropped off my car, told them what it needed. Im a mechanic back home but I'm traveling so I KNOW what was wrong. They gave me zero answers the first day, not even a time estimate. The 2nd day they wasted "looking for parts" that I already TOLD them they would not find. The end of the 2nd day they finally gave me a quote and said they'd have to finish it on yet a 3rd day. If I were home, I could have done the job myself in a few hours and for less than a quarter of what they charged me! Do not go here if you want PROFESSIONAL service. This is an update. You can find my original review under the additional "unrecommended" reviews below. I spent all last week contacting customer relations as I was instructed. On Thursday, I was told I would hear back from the district manager or franchise owner by close of business Friday. I heard nothing. The truck just stalled out going five minutes up the road. Midas corporate assured me original work was under warranty but can't seem to get anyone to call me back or take ownership of the misdiagnosis. Let's also not forget how we were treated during our first two visits. This is shameful! I would not recommend this particular Midas. Scheduled an appointment in February for a state inspection easily online. Was promptly checked-in and seen at my appointment time. Impressive considering that it was the last day of the month. I needed one part to pass inspection and I was brought to my car and shown exactly what needed to be replaced. I was also shown things that I should get replaced to maintain my car, outside of my inspection. Overall, I appreciate the honesty of the employees here. I love how they showed me what needed to be replaced and were honest with me about the parts that could wait. Will definitely be coming back!! read more

After an $800+++ (total bill was $3400) fix we were still experiencing the original problems. We took it back for a second time where, after I asked for a plan of action, I found the young person up front to be curt, stoic and uninterested in our concerns. We ultimately left the vehicle where Midas took another look, a few test drives and another diagnostics - this over a two day period with us having to continually call for updates. Finally, we were told they could not find anything wrong and second diagnostic came back clean. I followed my partner back up to pick up vehicle where he went on one last test drive with a technician and I stayed behind to get copies of the diagnostic reports. Once again, the same young person greeted us and was pleasant until I asked for the reports. I was told they could not provide those reports (red flag). I asked for the manager. After making me wait several minutes while they chit-chatted on the other side of the door, the manager came out. I could instantly tell he had heard a mouthful and was approaching with preconceived ideas; the energy was certainly off. We spoke about the vehicle for a bit and it was only after I requested the diagnostic reports he asked, "who are you?". I said, "I'm his partner" to which he replied, "ok". I was then refused the reports and told my partner had already been texted the results (another red flag) and I could get them from him. I politely said, "ok" and left. Uneasy about our correspondence, I immediately called my partner and was told he had received nothing. The manager bald-faced lied! Once back from the test drive he requested and received the results...plenty of time for the reports to be manipulated. Two big issues here besides the fact out vehicle is still not operating properly. 1. The manager lied giving me cause for pause. and 2. I absolutely believe had we been a heterosexual couple, I would not have been asked, "who are you?" and confronted with such resistance. I share this experience after calming down and fully processing our experience as I am not one to accuse or throw accusations of discrimination around. I keep playing out the experience in my head and I'm not sure I've ever been treated in such a manner. It was embarrassing, patronizing and hurtful. I'm still unsure how I want to handle this with Midas. Do better, be better! read more

I barely ever write reviews for places, but I had to warn others so what happened to us won't repeat itself. If you are having exhaust issues, do yourself a favor and don't go here to get them fixed. We took our SUV here about a year ago, and they told us one of our catalytic converters was bad. They proceeded to fix it, and it cost us around $300. Fast forward to today, and our car was roaring whenever we gave it gas, losing power, and eventually couldn't even move. We took it to get checked out, and found out they hadn't even put the catalytic converter on correctly. It was so backed up, and we were told if we had kept driving it, it would've caught on fire. Thankfully the guys at Toney's Muffler took care of it and did a THOROUGH check to make sure nothing else was wrong. Midas is expensive, they nickel and dime you for everything, and apparently don't even do the job right. read more

I'd like to start this off by saying that I (almost) never go to "chain mechanic shops". It's just not my style and I usually get effed over like at Merchants tire where I have only ever experienced a lot of rudeness. I came in this past Saturday and almost every shop I passed, 8 in total, were closed. It's not like I was driving around at 9pm on a Saturday either, it was 1 or 2pm timeframe so I was like wtf? Anyway, a lot of my gauges and lights decided to go haywire so I brought it in. They were all extremely nice and understanding. They got me within 20 minutes of being there and started work. They offer a monthly pay up to 6 months which I thought was amazing especially with how expensive car repairs are! Of course I took that option because otherwise, I would be out about $400 bucks. Anyway-they close at 4 but, they stayed until almost 5 replacing the part which I thought was amazing of them especially on a beautiful Saturday in the summer. They said that my car was still acting weird and if I could bring it in. I dropped it off on Monday night and today-(tuesday afternoon) They called to let me know everything is good and they even replaced some faulty terminal I had which I thought was really nice of them. I may or may not update this depending on how my car acts this week but, i'm really excited about the prompt service. They're also close to a lot of places in case you get hungry/thirsty which is great. read more

Warning - please make sure that after you have had any brake work at Hull St. Midas that you confirm your brakes are fully functioning and your emergency/hand brake is working before you leave the premises. I recently had my rear brake pads AND rotors replaced (in addition to the rear left caliper), and my car inspected at Hull St. Midas. When I pulled out of the lot I noticed my brakes weren't as responsive as they normally are and previously were (kind of "squishy"). When I got to my destination and put my emergency/hand brake on, the mechanism went all the way in the up position very easily and the car continued to ROLL BACKWARDS while fully pulled up! The hand brake wasn't functioning at all! I took it back the next business day (first thing in the morning at 7am - I actually had the original mechanic sit in the car with me as I demonstrated the hand brake pulled all of the way up as we rolled backwards in the parking lot) and they took it back and had it for at least an hour and a half. Ultimately they corrected whatever the issue was (brakes not properly bled? ...I am not 100% what was wrong and what they did), however they blamed Acura's replacement of the right, rear caliper that I had replaced approximately 6 months ago and was still under warranty. Midas never took responsibility for their negligence/incompetence... note, my brakes and emergency/hand brake worked fine prior to me going to Midas the day they performed brake work and completed a passed state inspection. Given that Midas convinced me that the issue I was experiencing with my brakes and hand brake were the fault of the right rear caliper and not anything THEY did I took the car to Acura. When I took the car to Acura (7am) they said the right, rear caliper was fine and fully functioning (they put it on the lift with me present and also drove the car). So, after having to take my car BACK to Midas and then also going to Acura unnecessarily...I was not very happy and very disappointed in Midas...I have been taking my 1996 Acura to them intermittently since 2004. We all make mistakes, however for Midas to place me in an unsafe situation with spongy brakes and a non-functioning emergency/handbrake and not take responsibility (they did fix the issue on the second visit but never acknowledged that they were at fault) ....disappointed is an understatement. Lesson - confirm brakes and emergency/hand brake is fully functioning prior to leaving the lot. read more

I've had several great experiences with the folks at Midas, to the point where I'm inclined to leave a review. Early this year I was behind on my state inspection, called around everywhere to try and get it done, everyone was booked or couldn't take me in for a week out (this was right after the new year). The Midas folks took my vehicle in and it was done within an hour. Recently another experience they helped install some after market shocks on my vehicle that I had already purchased. Most other shops won't touch aftermarket parts, but worked with Brook at the shop and they had me in and out within the day. Very nice folks, will continue coming here for my other needs! read more

They are very knowledgeable and prompt. I've taken my vehicles there for years for inspections, suspension, and A/C issues. I've even had them install tires I've bought online and had sent there. My neighbor took her caddy there for an electrical issue and they were able to fix it where many other places weren't. She wrestled with that issue for several years, taking it from one repair shop to the next, one specializing in Cadillac electrical issues. It took these guys one try and done! Their solution, yank the fuse for that sub system. It didn't cost her an arm and a leg AND it was an easy fix. Oh, since they help sponsor the Feed-More program, that $16 state inspection only costs you a $10 donation! I've never had them try to sell me on any cheap "headlight adjustment" crap like some places do either. They give good, sound advice and recommendations. read more

Went there to have a timing belt a water pump replaced on a 2005 Elantra. It was about 1:20 pm. I asked if they would get it done by this evening they assured me it would be ready by 6 pm. Well 5:20 rolls around and guess what. I get a phone call telling me that he is still working on it and that it will be done in the morning hopefully by 9 am. So, after no phone call by 10 am I call them and ask if it's done. She tells me it will be done in 45 minutes and I can head up there in a bit to pick it up. So, you flat out lied to me just to get my car in there. That alone deserves 4 stars taken off this review. Your lie caused me to not have a car all night and morning.!So, I catch a ride up there to pick it up and head inside. When I finish paying she says he'll pull it up front for you and give you the keys. So, I see my car go by and park on the other end of the garage in the rain. Was he test driving it or running to get lunch in it because he got out and walked to a different car instead of giving me my keys. So, I ask a guy in the garage if it is ready and he says it is. So, I get in there thinking the keys are in there, but then he finally walks up and hands me my keys. Doesn't say thank you or anything. Unless he mumbled and I didn't here. Sketchy place with awful customer service. I won't be back. read more

This said, I DID go to donate blood and plasma which, apparently, this establishment fully supports and had 2 Blood Mobiles in the parking lot. The staff were busy in the bays and office on this Saturday and accomodated us donors as though we were customers. Gotta give 'em credit for that.
