My whole family are in auto in some way but unfortunately live far from me, so I decided to go to a local around the corner from my house. They insisted it was $190 and wouldn't take a card. I had $100 in cash ready to go, too. The guy admitted that he probably said the wrong price to me, and then made me pay the full price regardless. NEVER again. An oil change is not $85, don't let them tell you that either. Not all of us are in Ardmore have our pockets lined to drop an extra $100 on a service that costs 50 anywhere else. I had read the good reviews on Milano and was glad to find a local mechanic where I could take my…read moreolder foreign car rather than the dealership. The woman who scheduled me was warm and friendly. But the day I arrived for my appointment, I was taken aback by the fact that no-one greeting customers wore a mask in the midst of a global pandemic. And when the owner met me and took my key, he was flat out rude. But I chalked it up to it possibly being due to the fact that they were short-staffed, or even a naturally gruff personality. So, when he called me back later that day and was "Mr. Friendly," I was surprised. But here's the thing. He was super friendly and affable...UNTIL he realized that he'd called the wrong number. Yeah, apparently he thought he was talking to another customer. Once he figured out he was speaking to ME and not the other customer, he became totally rude and dismissive again. Bordering on rage. It was like Jekyll and Hyde. And then he launched into a whole tirade about how he hadn't looked at the car and wouldn't touch it. I had been prepared for the expense of repairing it. But this was the weirdest and the rudest encounter I've ever had with a service person. I still don't know what the deal was. Was it because I'm a woman? I don't know. But the entire experience was pretty unsettling.

So, on the second warm day of spring the car heads up to Lower Merion Tire & Service, FKA United Tire of Ardmore, FKA Goodyear of Ardmore and through all the business name changes it's the same team of quality people working. Kevin recognized me pretty quickly when I called about service, told me they'd get me right in. Steve called, told me what was going on, pointed out a tail light bulb being out and some cruddy looking power steering fluid that we could take care of too, no problem, picked the car back up 4 hours later with ice cold A/C. These people treat their customers well. As I've mentioned in prior business reviews, they regularly service the Patriarch's van and take care of it, replacing four bald tires during an oil change with my permission while he insisted there was nothing wrong with it. When NMT was in the emergency room and we got a flat, they speedily took care of it and told the Reverend to come back and pay because he needed to be with our son.
