Update! The manager called me after admitting that my first review caught the attention of their corporate. The manager told me that all they do is go based on the vehicles schedule for maintenance and that I must of been explained the quote wrong. WHAT?! I can't believe he actually admitted they do not check the car when quoting you things it needs. They just go based off of the cars maintenance schedule and quote you items the car may need but they don't really know. When I'm told by a mechanic that my car needs $100+ service I expect you to actually check my car. Not make up something. Unreal! People stay clear of this place! They are literally making up crap! This business took weeks to complete work, overcharged us, did not disclose issues with the car that they noticed, did TERRIBLE work that has since been redone, and had truly awful customer service. After contacting them about the issues we had, the owner was completely unprofessional and inappropriate, and he did not offer any sort of remedy. Maybe they forgot that half of their wall is glass and I could see everything they were doing, but they didnt even attempt to turn a single lug nut. A very young porter decided to drive my car into the shop with the parking brake engaged because he simply couldn't figure out how to disengage it, despite being several people including myself he could have asked. Needless to say I was furious and did not end up using this Midas. I am taking in my Corvette to the dealer and this Midas will be hearing from me if anything needs to be replaced. Customer service: outstanding in every way -- great communication at every step in the process; Rebecca is professional, personable, and caring; the whole team is super polite and kind. They ALWAYS try to accommodate your schedule. Competence: Tim and his team kept me safe in my beloved 19-yr-old car until I was ready to upgrade. Honesty: always reasonably priced. Last time I brought my old car in, it needed quite a bit poured into it. Asked Tim if he thought I should make the repairs/upgrades or if it was time to buy another car. He said, "Put the repair money toward your next car. But do it soon." That's honesty. Quality: I have never had an issue with any repair they've done. Midas needs to hire proficient mechanics. They couldn't find the very present hole which was slowly deflating my tire, when I even stated at first, "I have a hole in my tire, can I show you where"? They said, "oh no, they'll find it, it's their job". I was told by the mechani that my "tire is crooked". Crooked? Alright buddy. He couldn't even explain why that meant and recommended a new tire. They sealed the inside an charged me $20.00. I call a week later after it has deflated yet again to figure out if I need a new run or tire. They have no notes on my file, the mechanic does not remember our conversation and the manager says I've never heard that... 'crooked'. I'm told to come in, again. Dumb.. Why would I go there after you treat me rudely on the phone due to your incapable employee. I went to Firestone, my tire is not crooked, not bent, and what do you know, there's a hole in my tire at that exact spot.. Interesting. Figure it out, Midas! Had an issue with my workhorse, the Honda Pilot, which began making a rattling noise in the back right side (after going over some Metra train tracks). Called my local Midas business to see if they would be able to verify my concern. Spoke with 'Becca', who scheduled my appointment, Arrived at the location and spoke with Scott the Manager. John was my mechanic and after his inspection found out the issue was a stabilizer bar that gave out. They recommended replacing both of them (so as not to return with the same issue down the road), made complete sense. Was quoted a price, and with some checking, found another place that offered it at a slightly lower price point. Scott matched the offer with no need for negotiation. They corrected the problem & took care of any issues. Met the owner Sam, while I waited, who of course was very cordial and happy that I patronized his location. I asked Scott to quote me a price for struts & springs (for the future). Definitely supporting our local business. Cheers! read more

They charged me $600 for rear brakes only. I reluctantly agreed to the work. Picked car up today and the right rear wheel is making a terrible clicking sound. So not only did they charge me too much but the work is not done properly. I would not take my car here again! read more

Make note and no I aint bitter or joking. Secondly, Steve is dishonest. Vehicles will come in for an oil change vehicle will be parked inside and no oil change done. Only maintenance is reset Third, vehicle needs brakes and owner will sell this to customer at dealership prices but use aftermarket parts and 8 out of 10 times brakes are good Fourth. I want to start by saying I've never posted anything to yelp in my entire life but due to the horrible experience I had at this Midas location I felt I needed to let others know. Worst mechanic experience of my life. Brought my car in to have it looked at since I hadn't driven it in close to a year.. I was told they would look at everything and I was in good hands.. I get a call an hour later saying I need $500 worth of fluid flushing, new spark plugs, the oil changed, etc. I was okay with that and told them to go ahead with the work. I go pick up my car, pay the $500 and as I drive off the lot it sounds funny and smells funny so I bring it right back.. After bringing it right back they then put it on the lift and bring me to my car and tell me "wow, this is serious" You need a new axel and all new brakes which will cost well over $1,000.... This was literally 5 minutes after I paid the same guy $500 dollars to look at my car and make sure it was good to drive since I hadn't done so in 1 year. Moral of the story: They up sold me on $500 worth of service and didn't even bother putting my car on the lift and looking underneath it. I feel so taken advantage of that I'm also reporting this incident to the Better Business Bureau, Midas Corporate, Twitter, Facebook, and all local news sources. read more

We used this place to put on 2 new tires on my sons car that he purchased from another supplier. He called ahead to find out what they charged to put 2 tires on. Funds are tight being in college, so he had to make sure he could afford it. They quoted him $35 to $37.50 per tire. He made an appointment. When the work was done, they charged him $105 total for 2 tires claiming they added shop costs. When asked what shop costs were, he was told it was for new cap and gasket for the steam. These were new tires. We had metal caps with new tires. They replaced them with plastic. None of that was needed. Very poor customer service. If that was their standard to add shop costs, it should be quoted upfront. We have used them in the past and every time they inflate bill. They try to sell things not needed. We are done. Don't use them unless you like throwing your money away. read more

Steve is extremely informative and knows his stuff. He's extremely personable and was able to get my car in for oil and brakes and done within a couple of hours. It's amazing was new brakes can do for a car :) oil change price is a little high and I thought they could have done a better job vacuuming. I have to say if there were 10 stars for a review I would put that in here. I originally had gone to Midas from referral and the fact that my Mercedes just decided to break down. They took care of me getting from start to finish and in between. It was a long process as there were many issues. They took care of the warranty coverage and my car runs perfectly! Last week I thought it was time to check out purchasing a new car because a dealership told me the timing chain was going and my car was worthless. Fast forward, brought it to Midas where Sam suggested I have their Mercedes specialist take a peek to see if N fact that was a problem. (My car had been running perfectly so I was shocked when the dealership told me it was falling apart) well Danny came in took a look from top to bottom and did a whole checklist for my Mercedes and found a little oil clog that he promptly fixed. He told me in his honest opinion I should just keep it forever! ( just have to find a rust repair person now)!! So I contacted the dealership and told them they lost a sale due to their rush to get a deal done! I'm keeping my car and thank Midas, Sam, Danny (and Steve~~previous owner) for taking care of me and my car and especially for not trying to rip me off!! The owner Steve loves what he does! You will find him knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. I have always been pleased with the work that was done on my car there. I feel that I get honest information about what needs to be done and what could be done later. I also feel like the pricing is fair. Steve and his crew take the time to explain to me everything that they are doing even though I'm not a mechanic and don't know exactly what they're talking about all the time. Owner has continued to harass me for literally years now. In addition, he is now posting his own "positive" reviews in the comments of all the negative reviews. I have flagged all these comments, and encourage anyone reading this to do so as well. It's a clear breach of Yelp guidelines. Started with just going for the oil changes, then got tired of the high prices of maintenance done at the dealerships, so I let them do service work on my Scion XB. I was pleased with the fast, friendly, knowledgeable mechanics. Pricing is fair. Workmanship is very good. I was on my way to work and I got a flat tire while driving. Turns out there was a hole in the side wall. The shop manger, who is the owner's daughter, showed me the hole which I thought was nice. She even called my boss to let her know I was going to be late, as sadly I ran out of my house without my phone that day. She also gave me many options to choose from not just the most expensive and she didn't "guide" me to pi. Turns out the tire I picked wasn't in stock but her father went to Palatine to the warehouse to pick it up for me. They were quick to fix my tire and didn't charge me and arm and a leg. I will certainly return here if the need arises and tell others to do the same!! A+ service!! read more

Overinflated prices, lousy. work and service. After oil change my car began leaking. When I complained about it, the manager tells me that it is my problem. I have never had an oil leak before. He also told me that he was angry that I didn't get my heater core installed by their shop and actually went into my glove box to find out who did it, and I told him that was an invasion of privacy and also that the reason I didn't go with him is because he was charging $300 more. I told him that wasn't even the problem and that I am still having no heat after spending $1000 to another place. He said that "I'd be sorry" for badmouthing their service. Well I am in the process of writing the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General. I am still losing oil after the oil change and have to replace regularly. NEVER had this problem before. I also found out that he called the other place that I got the heater core done at, and that is another story altogether. But I will never ever recommend this place nor go anywhere near it. By this Friday, the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General will have complaints against this place. Looks like Neta P and Rob G agree with me that service is just lacking here. They cracked my tail light housing and scratched up my fender trying to change a brake light. When I pointed out the damage to the owner told me that damage was already there which it was not. Then he stayed my cat was a cheap "Jap" piece of crap! read more
