When my engine light came on I brought my vehicle to Midas (Tuesday). They completed a diagnostic assessment and said my alternator and struts needed to be replaced. It ran me $3,600 for the experience. They tried to upsell me on four new tires which no other provider sees a current issue with them so strange. Bam! One day later my engine light came back on. Brought it to Midas and they said they would need to do another diagnostic test for 200. The issue they think it could be would cost me another 1-3k. They already ran an assessment on my car this week for 200 and they want to run another one for 200 without fixing my car. It's all too coincidental and weird for my taste. I found most other places will figure out what is going on for cheaper and will be more thorough when looking. This place may be okay for some things but at this point I just don't trust them anymore. They took 3,600 without actually fixing all that is wrong with my car yet leading me to believe they did. If I had known I would have put the money towards another one. Very upsetting. read more

As always my experience with Midas on Union Street was quick, professional, and I always feel like I get a straight forward explanation no matter what I have my car in for. This time I only needed an oil change and rotate tires and check the brakes. I left feeling that my car was good. Went there for an exhaust leak. They diagnosed it and gave me two options to repair it. They fixed it for a reasonable cost while I waited in their comfortable lobby. The bathrooms were also very clean. They even texted me a few days after the repair to see if everything was ok. I would definitely use Midas again! The only negative I have is when you use the on- line reservation system, it tells you that they will get back to you in 30 minutes. That was not the case and I had to call Midas to confirm my appointment. Minor inconvenience. read more

I'm not a bug reviewer but the guys here efficient and super nice, and def more worthy of a higher rating so- Went in for a scheduled oil change where i waited with the car at a time of day where they seemed to be super busy and I honestly expected to wait at least 3 hours, but it was done in like an hour & a half. They came out and recommended wiper replacement, which i passed on, and an air filter change, which I went for, and it was maybe another 15 minutes before everything was good to go. 2 weeks later the air in my tires were low, so I called them up to ask if they had a self service station that I could use since I was their fairly recently, and they told me to just pop up & they'd take care if it- which they did! I can't comment on how they are with repairs, but I'd definitely be comfortable going in for an estimate, and will be back for routine maintenance on my volvo. read more

Thieves! They quote one price then charge you double. Labor charge we were told when we picked up the car is $300. an hour. They add to the quoted agreement after you sign it, Total ripoff. You would do much better at any dealership. Don't go to this place unless you want to be robbed. read more

A few years back I wouldn't go anywhere other than Bangor Midas. Being a women you have to be careful where you go and make sure your not getting taken advantage of. I felt comfortable and confident bring my two vehicles there no matter what. They were straight forward and always honest with me but, after they lost the management they had and new people came in it went straight down hill. Went in a year or so ago and the woman they had atvfront desk where up-charging me. The manager then brought the price down hundreds of dollars after speaking with him. Recently went back again for my brakes to be fixed. I was quoted 1580. for brake pads and rotors. I was quoted 800-900 for same job at a different garage. I was a loyal customer for over 8yrs!!! I won't be caught dead bring my car back there. I work hard for what I have and won't be taken advantage of!! Sad how things change. I wouldn't even give them one star!! read more

We have been bringing our vehicles to Midas forever. Always helpful and quick to get back to us. They had done work on my daughter's car and then she left for uni in SC. She had problems with it and brought it to a Midas there. I called Nate in Bangor and he looked up the work we had had done. He then called the SC Midas and got everything squared away under warranty. read more

On the side of the road again! 2/2 of the cars we got tires for from Midas went flat in about a month or less. We went in about the flat tire they said it was too "worn down" to be under the warranty. Happened about 2 weeks after I got them? They always add something they want to fix too. I know people with a similar experience to mine. I took the flat tire to a new repair shop and they told me the tire been patched before...? they patched an old tire and sold it to me as a new tire. read more

My last 2 experiences here. They quoted replacing my hub assembly for $550. Brand new the hub assembly cost $68 and it took me and a friend 2 hours to do in my driveway. They wanted nearly $500 for 2 hours max in labor. Next experience was an oil change and inspection sticker for our company vehicle. They had our payment service and it's contact information on file from many of the past maintenance appointments there. Midas scheduled us to bring it in at 8 am for this. At 2 pm when we still hadn't received any updates from them we called only to be informed they hadn't even brought it in yet. I had also spent an accumulated $4,000 there over the course of a year trying to solve a recurring issue with my front tires balding on the inside. It seemed like everytime I brought it in they posed it as an entirely new and different problem from before never mentioning that it was recurring consistently every 3 months regardless of how much I paid for the problem to be resolved. (left on 5/17/22) ...A pickup truck Midas has inspected every year that I only occasionally drive (800 miles since the last Midas inspection) was claimed to have 2 leaking manifold gaskets and failed inspection. I see, hear, or smell no evidence of any leak. I'm not sure why Midas would claim to identify a problem that does not exist and hope that it's not because I'm 70 years old. Update... The Midas representative that responded never made any attempt to contact me even though I provided contact information. The owner or manager Nick did call me and supported his mechanic but couldn't tell me which exhaust gasket was leaking. He offered to show me the leak - I rechecked again and found nothing - I decided further time spent on this issue given Nick's conversation on the phone would have been pointless. I had the truck inspected inspected in another shop and it passed the state inspection easily - The safety issues Midas in Bangor claimed did not exist; I do most of my own work and keep this 30 year old truck in showroom condition. read more

Are usually go to Vip and Brewer but I've been going to mitis often on for a couple months now and I was a little sketched out about it because I am very particular about my vehicle and because my family only has one vehicle and I have to trust my mechanics the mechanics at mitis are phenomenal the ones I've come in contact with they're very knowledgeable and I believe that they are at the same level as Vip and Brewer mind you not everything every VIP is great but the particular one in Brewer is awesome and mitis is the same way I'm gonna be going to mitis more often to get my regular maintenance done because they've proved to me that they are reliable and trustworthy shop if management can reach out to me because I have some questions that would be phenomenal thank you read more

This Midas is amazing! We are traveling from Washington DC to Canada in a rental car with a bad tire. We popped in and they immediately diagnosed and plugged a nail hole within 15 mins and we were back on the road. AND THEY DID IT FOR FREE!! Just go to this Midas, they are the best. read more

Honestly the worst place I've ever taken a vehicle gave me a different price a lot less than the price they gave my dad who looked at the vehicle the worst customer service I have ever experienced wouldn't recommend they try to real you in telling you what they should add just to get more money totoally not worth it read more

Took my '05 SUV for a new CV and ball joint on one side. Cost with labor was under $500. While there, presented them with a problem that three other mechanic shops, including a dealership had not been able to diagnose/repair. Loud jingling noise on the underside that increased on acceleration. Had been ongoing for months with no resolution. Asked if the heat shields might be a source. They concurred with that and promptly took care of it. Nominal cash to fix that. Good service with minimal b.s. read more

I was dealt with efficiently and respectfully. I went in for a brake job and was expecting to pay for pads all around and possibly rotors. They checked the car out, showed me their reasoning, and said that all that was needed was to clean the tracks the pads travel in. The brakes feel great, the noise is gone, and they talked me out of spending several hundred dollars more. Will definitely return when the brakes actually need replacing. read more

With an $881 estimate for new brake lines from a Belfast garage in hand Midas gave the car a free inspection and offered a quote of $430 for the same work - $451 cheaper than the Belfast garage. The car was ready when promised. Plus the other garage condemned the front brake calipers, Midas tells me the calipers are good - another $200 saved. read more

Went for an oil change. They are very knowledgable but expensive and it took forever. I had a 1pm appointment and they didn't take my car into the garage til 1:25. Next time I'll go back to Prompto. read more
