Note: Reroof completed October 2020 however I wanted to postpone my review till the roof was tested with rainfall which occurred late January 2021 and included 30+ mph winds and 6" of rain over 2 days. Pros: Timely response to call for roof replacement proposal Attentive during the Q & A bidding process and sample presentation Costing proposal similar to alternate bids Good communication regarding the timing and start of job Careful prep and setup for demolition Courteous and respectful employees who like to listen to roof music while working Temporary toilet remained on site throughout the process Driveway protection set down for debris dumpster placement Quick and efficient demolition of existing roof tiles and underlayment (Noisy Process unavoidable) Professional and efficient replacement of rotted facia / roof sheathing as well as reworking roof venting All new double pipe & vent flashings although fireplace saddles are not typically replaced...apron only Neat and practiced placement of double layer underlayment and furring strips Extra attention applied with special materials such as Peel & Stick at valleys, chimneys & all roof penetrations such as plumbing and exhaust vents. (NOTE: This is very important and often excluded!) Special attention applied to the roof "cricket" area, which is critical to overall lifespan durability Very timely and efficient delivery of the roofing tiles which goes hand in hand with underlayment prep Efficient and careful placement of roof tiles with clean straight lines at the open valley Well placed, continuous and finished cement application at ridge, hips and terminations Note the ridge, hip and barrel tiles along all gable ends are attached with hardened deck screws vs nails Color matched tile adhesive and special silicone caulking is used where applicable and well done Color matched painting of flashings, jacks & vents A few extra tiles are left on site for future repairs if requested by client Cleanliness & safety was maintained on the roof as well as the home perimeter Cons: Minor roof tile layout opinion differences which affect cosmetic appearance versus roofing integrity, however all were resolved to my satisfaction As expected and no doubt the industry standard, existing through roof venting pipes (ie: bath, dryer & kitchen) are not addressed or upgraded unless the client requests it and may require a sheet metal subcontractor to become involved The roofing industry painting standard for roof jacks & caps seems to be a single coating of spray paint over unprimed metal so I elected to prefinish the sheet metal myself NOTE: Roofing, when done correctly, is a skilled service which requires strength, agility, endurance due to weather conditions, constant awareness due to risk of fall, all while maintaining attention to detail. Keep this in mind and treat the workers accordingly Conclusion: Mid State Roofing gets my approval and I would use them again. read more

I first contacted Mid State Roofing during the winter rains in Nov 2016 here in Atascadero, Ca. Of the 5 roofers I called,"Bill" of Mid State was the only one to return the call with a quick subsequent visit and repair. They charged $350 for that repair which was fair... and it stopped the leak. I then sold that house and hired them to re-roof my next house that same month. In fact, they made five visits to the new place to stop leaks during the rain storms without even starting the new Re-Roofing Job due to the rains. All I had to do was text Bill and it was a good as done. When they were able to begin work, the crew they provided was reliable and conscientious... and very hard working. They did an excellent job with no complaints... 60 squares; that's a lot of shingle. In fact, they corrected the many mistakes and poor craftsmanship of the original roofer. They pointed out these deficiencies, made recommendations and proceeded with the repairs. I was very pleased with the outcome and will call them again if need be. I coordinated the work with Bill and Manuel. I'm sure they have other employees, but these two guys were the people I dealt with and they were just amazing. It was a pleasure. read more

I have used Midstate roofing personally as well as professionally for the last 15 years. My clients and I have been very satisfied with both the pricing and quality of workmanship that was provided. My shake roof was completely replaced several years ago. The crew was in and out in 5 days. I was amazed at the speed in which they completed the job and how hard they worked to get the job done within the time frame promised. I could not be happier with my new Solaris roof! After having the first roofing company I contracted with cancel the job on the day they were scheduled to start, I was left scrambling to find a company who could do the work before this winters rainy season began. Mid State Roofing was able to complete the job for a very good price, with a superior product and done in just two days. There was some dry rot that was not discovered until the old roof was removed. I thought he additional cost of $150 for plywood, facia boards and labor was reasonable. Just had my roof completely redone by Mid State. Very pleased with the service we received, from start to finish. Original contact was with Bill (estimator) and he was very professional and pleasant to work with. Company kept in contact with us through the rainy season delays. We did not have to call and check with them, they called us, which does not seem to be normal contractor behavior now-days. Big Bully, Yes Wade the owner is a big bully demanding I pay for extra materials and work he said he did. He even called and said I had better have $200 cash waiting when he gets there. I was afraid of his actions so I paid him. My roof is still a mess and even though it does not rain often in paso it still leaks at times. Nearly $5000 for a leaking roof! So now I called home inspection company and they found several roofing problems that Mid state roofing did wrong. Time to call a new roofer and spend more money.
