I hate and absolutely can't stand uppity people that still believe the library is a sacred silent sanctuary. Well you will find that at this library, the hustle and bustle of hundreds of people coming in and out all day long using the adult computers for the Internet service or that half a dozen or so youth computers for in the child section before computers there. As I agree with Rich the library can get a bit noisy especially if you knew the children's area. Yet this library offers a lot of extras that make it excellent for families. Yes they have free Wi-Fi, can normally pick up a good speed and connection from almost anywhere from the center of the library outward. Most importantly what I love about this library is that it understands its patrons. last month in October they held an amnesty program for anyone who owes late fees or fines for losing a book or video. The program allowed you to bring in food in exchange for forgiveness of the fees. I like a library that cares about giving everyone access to its resources instead of worrying about collecting fees.

A few blocks into the historical district and any leisurely visitor would know this town has a few stories to go along with its history. A century long timeline which spawned an alumni of masterminded speakers, influential authors, and entrepreneurs ahead of their time. A pride that earned the town rights for 29 mural dedications alongside some of the downtowns most notable business. These larger than life paintings have been selected and maintained by Punta Gorda Historical Society. The explicit details are time stamps of Punta Gorda s most notable moments in its history. Each carefully aligned in a sanctuary like setting like prehistoric carvings inside a cave. As timeless as stain glass windows inside a church. One might say Punta Gorda could be manifested as a sanctuary of time. Making the recently proposed 30th Mural a most fitting choice alongside PG most established sanctuary. The 111 year old haven of safe kept books. The Punta Gorda library on Shreve St. Each title in its rightful place. As if they were pieces of a puzzle connecting a century worth of stories to the Big Pictures throughout the sanctuary of time.

I agree with the people from Lee. I spent two years down there and used the south library off…read moreGladiolus (I believe it was on Bass.) and the north Fort Myers just over the Edison bridge. Unlike what is left of the Charlotte libraries, I never left a Lee county library empty handed. Unfortunately, I believe the reason for that is the difference in the size of the population. I'm sure Lee gets a much larger amount of funding. So much so that they have enough books to actually seperate them by type, making it easier to find what you're looking for. There is no excuse I can think of to not have a complete set of a series though. Has happened to me enough times that I no longer take out any part of a series. I tend to just be glad we have a library at all considering the state of things today. Overall I believe these people are doing the best they can with what they have to work with.

Libraries are just wonderful aren't they? Especially this one. There is always something going on,…read morethe city does a good job advertising events through the local libraries. There is something for every one of all ages! From toddlers to seniors! This one is connected to Suncoast Technical College so I had no idea there was a library in here for years, it has a beautiful fountain out front with big gaters! I spotted one on one of their off days. It is located really close to a big deep canal right off the freeway and I always see gaters there so I'm not surprised, just be aware when outside! Florida is crazy man!! Aaaanyways.. besides that the staff is really nice and informative and always decorate the place real cute and creative during the holidays/season changes and events like the Renaissance Day! That was a fun that they used to display so many other things they have to offer like their 3D printer, fancy labeler and other things, I'll update this soon after I go back to find out more for you. ;) There are plenty to do for kids, lots of private rooms in the back for meetings, it's a nice clean library with cool perks like a teen center with a t.v. And play set you can borrow. An honorary jigsaw puzzle case and lots more. You can walk to the book store inside the building and take the elevator up (although I think it's mostly for students) there is a restaurant that sells food on specific days (you gotta look up the details) sometime the book store has fun sales like fill a bag for $5, we got a few bags in spring. Great deal! Otherwise this is the location for local voting during election season and other events.
