Staff is very friendly. I've been going several years for Retina issues and I love it. Dr. Mitchell Fineman is great and has an amazing way of explaining and keeping me calm. this office is one of the most inefficient and inhumane in the city. I went to Navy Yard but I hear it's the same everywhere at Midatlantic.. You cannot call your doctor or his office or his technicians directly. You have to go through a call center. You have to leave a message and have them call you back. The call center serves all the offices and I have to say they were quite humane, if unable to help. If a tech leaves you a message and forgets to leave an extension (as happened to me) you are out of luck as they have no way to trace back a message. The staff is jaded and not very empathetic. I received devastating news about my eye conditions and they didn't care. They treat it like a joke. I am planning to apply for assisted dying rather than go through this office for more care. The doctor seems smart and knowledgeable but nobody at the office has the slightest communication skills. The techs are patronizing. The receptionist was rude. One good point was there was no wait time at the Navy Yard. The doctor I saw had no empathy. He joked around but he should have sat down and carefully explained everything. He minimized the risk of falling, saying people fall from all kinds of things . When I looked this up there are statistics associating falls with this condition. The technology is about 30 years out of date. They updated my portal in .xml. Not pdf. I had to fill out a long questionnaire on my phone and couldn't use my laptop or review the questionnaire due to their setup. . As a result there are several errors which may not matter since nobody bothered to review it; I can tell since nobody mentioned that I am taking a medication that could interfere with treatment. The technology screams, "we don't care." And they don't. They don't ask for post visit reviews. If you complain they get defensive. They do everything they can to make you feel like a number. Like someone they don't care for. They answer questions as coldly as possible, like "Whatever you want" or "I can't really say anything." They are completely cold, cruel and uncaring. They know that many people will put up with anything to save their eyes and they take full advantage to make people miserable. read more

I have had 3 encounters with MAR. I must first state that the staff is very courteous and Dr. Fell is an exceptional provider. The Stroudsburg building looks like something from the seventies that hasn't been repaired since the 90s. I do not believe they would pass a JCAHO inspection. However, the care was exceptional. I drove 1 hour to my second visit at the Stroudsburg campus only to find the doors locked. They informed me they could not reach me by phone, and they just cancelled my visit without directly confirming. My third encounter was in Bethlehem. A much nicer facility. However, the deliberate overbooking was intolerable. Once again, everyone was very courteous but after waiting over 2 hours to see the doctor, I was "Pleasantly informed" there were still six patients ahead of me. They do not seem to understand that not all patients are retired. They did not hesitate to return my copay before I left without being seen. They are quite good at what they do. Just take the day off and bring a Harry Potter novel to pass the time. read more

I was scheduled for a procedure on February 25th at 10 am. I asked questions about examinations and cost. I was told by the office manager after several attempts at the procedure and cost. That i could go elsewhere for treatment. I stayed and after several test and preparation for procedure I was abruptly canceled. Staying they needed insurance prior authorization. I had faith in this practice since it carried the name of Wills Eye, a place that helped restore my son's vision but my visit was disappointment. I had concerns regarding flashes of light and the doctor I saw was not interested and minimized my symptoms. The visit lasted less than 5 minutes and he left without any instructions. read more

I have been very happy with my care at Mid Atlantic. Two years sgo I met with Dr. Finemsn regarding my macula hole and partially detached retina in one eye. I was so scared but Dr Fineman's warm bedside manner and his confidrnce helped me tremendously. He has a great personality. His surgery on my eye was a huge success. Dr. Ho assisted in saving my wife's eye after an incident at my son's baseball game 8 years ago. We continue to see Dr. Ho on an annual basis. His care and compassion are second to none! I highly recommend this facility. The staff is courteous and of course the doctors are among the best in their field. read more

Made an appointment for Newtown Square office and the day before the appointment a billing clerk called us totally ignorant and insulting because she did not understand our primary and secondary coverage - she laughed at us and said we didn't know what we were talking about- we called back and got a competent rep who noted we were correct - we cancelled our appointment and are going to another Retina Doctor with professional friendly staff unlike these people. read more

The doctor was great, trying to get surgery scheduled has been difficult. It took two weeks but finally got all things resolved.

Dr Gary Brown was an amazing doctor. He saved my vision multiple times as a child and at 42 I can still see thanks to Mid Atlantic Retina. I currently See Dr Kaiser who is an excellent doctor as well. Every doctor I have ever see did a great job. The office is busy and you have to wait some times, but if you want to still see I would wait for the best. read more

I am under the care of Dr. Fineman in the Cherry Hill office. Dr. Fineman literally saved my life by realizing an ocular abnormality was a systemic issue and getting my GP involved immediately that led to a diagnosis. Just as important as being a skilled ophthalmologist, he has shown me a level of genuine concern for my well being. I highly recommend him and the practice. read more

I had an appt with Dr Kaiser as a follow-up he suggested to my first appt, a year prior, wherein he found a wrinkle in my retina. Due to unrelated circumstances i have had severe pain in my eyes since my initial visit, thus i wanted to talk to the dr before dilation drops were inserted by an assistant. He outright refused to even discuss my condition as diagnosed a year ago with me, and would not speak to me at all other than to hover in the doorway of the exam room to tell me that he would not speak to me, and to bring up some totally unrelated medical condition which upset and confused me. This Kaiser is ABUSIVE. Stay far away from this place. read more

I see Dr James Vander who is everything good about a doctor. He cares, he makes sure he sees me more often if there is an issue, and answers any and all of my questions with simple and thorough answers. Maybe I am lucky but each of the doctors I have seen in the practice are excellent. read more

I was referred to this practice with a diagnosis of macular pucker. I was seen by dr Spirn who recommended the only option of having surgery. I looked around for a second opinion but because it is retinal surgery this is the only group that does this surgery in the area...the closest is either Princeton or Vineland. I was scheduled to have surgery at wills eye. They have their own physician owned surgical site(which reimburses the doctors at a higher rate since they own it) but because of my insurance I had to go to wills eye. Patient education is very scattered as it differs between site to site. They do a lot of education over the phone and it is not consistent. I had surgery and had a complication ..retinal detachment. I ,nor my sister were never spoken to post surgery something that as a dr you are required to do. When I brought this to dr Spirns attention I was told by him that he never sees patients postop! I continued to have complications that required painful laser treatments. In addition I found out that I was never told to elevate my head post surgery by their education Dept,dr , fellow ,nor nursing staff at wills eye. When I brought this forward to the practice manager I was told that"they would try to do better". I ended up changing Drs within the practice as I could no longer trust dr Spirn. Be very careful when dealing with this group. I obviously have gotten licensure boards involved on all levels. read more

Initially I saw Dr Gary Brown and he was the absolute best doctor!! He made me feel at ease and he had the attitude that I was his most important patient that day. He spent at least 2 hours with me and found a retinal occlusion and he recommended injections to my eye which I was totally scared to receive. His nurse was so comforting and the injections (after receiving 12 and being his patient for over a year) caused my vision to return and was a complete success. I can never thank him enough for his care. He gave me back my sight. He has since retired and I am so sorry I had to change doctors. I've seen Spirn..Ho..and my recent doctor is Kaiser. None of them compare to Dr Brown! Dr Kaiser is aloof and acts like he can't wait to get out of the room. He doesn't explain things and his office staff has changed there also. They act like they're doing you a favor. If it weren't for me needing a close location to my home I would change specialists. read more
