Dr. Weinstock performed laser refractive surgery on me in June 2018…read more I first met him during a consultation in April 2018 where he spent nearly two hours with me doing an extremely thorough consultation. He answered all of my and my wife's questions and concerns, and never tried to push an unnecessary procedure on me. I had other consultations for laser surgery before ultimately selecting Dr. Weinstock, and all of my other consultations felt rushed and very sales-like and not at all clinical. Dr. Weinstock was readily available to address questions via email and text, and was flexible in his scheduling of in-person follow-ups to accommodate my needs (early/weekend appointments). The surgery itself was successful, taking less than an hour and completely painless. I had clear vision a few hours after my surgery and was completely recovered within 24 hours. I have no residual dry-eye, my night vision is crystal clear and without any starbursts (common post-LASIK issues that I did not experience). Getting LASIK was easily the best decision of my life, and I'm very glad that I chose Dr. Weinstock.

This is my second surgery here and both times I arrived early, only to wait no less than 3 hours. This time, they called and asked me to come in early and I'm now an hour past the original time. I'm only here due to my insurance, otherwise I'd go elsewhere. I'm anxiously awaiting my large bill and then trying to call during their very limited billing office hours. For a place with such a good reputation, it seems like a cruel joke. Go elsewhere.

Worse, I received an email prompting me to use a patient portal where I left urgent messages regarding an allergic reaction to a new medication and received no response for days, only to be told after I called that the portal "hasn't worked in forever." The medical care itself felt rushed and dismissive. The doctor seemed indifferent to my extreme eye pain and offered only generic solutions rather than looking for a root cause. Between the technical failures and the lack of empathy, I cannot recommend this provider.

She responded, "but didn't the tech see you?" I responded that the tech saw me 30-40 minutes ago and my appointment was not with her but with Dr. Heist. Frankly, she could have cared less. Dr. Janine Tabas replaced both of my thickening and darkening cataracts, about one year apart,…read moreusing different replacement lenses, which is not typical but which worked out marvelously for me. My vision now is simply amazing--I donated my glasses and tossed my lenses. Dr. Tabas is an outstanding diagnostician and a superb surgeon, and both procedures went off splendidly. I had to go out of pocket considerably to pay for two state-of-the-art lenses, but that's because insurance will rarely if ever pay for anything other than standard lenses which will give you near or distance vision but not both. It was worth it for such great vision, and the procedures themselves are basically painless! Don't hesitate to have this surgery because you're worried about pain or discomfort--it's a piece of cake! The only reason I did not give the practice a 5-star rating are the offices (there are two; one in Philadelaphia and one in Bala Cynwyd) and the staff. The staff are often not easy to work with, when you can actually speak to a human, and many times less than polite. There was also a billing issue after the surgery that I will give them plaudits for fixing. The surgical center in Bala Cynwyd is a different operation and they're no less difficult to reach or work with. And the surgical "prep" borders on the absurd; even though you are awake and aware, and are just given a mild sedative, Versed, that wears off very quickly, you have to get a doctor's signoff with a number of components and a signed EKG. It's just a CYA for the surgical center in my view. If you need eye surgery, I heartily recommend this practice and Dr. Tabas!

Everyone, from the person who scheduled my appointment, to the front desk staff, to the technician, to DiDomenico were exceptional in their skill, kind manner, and efficiency. The doctor was so impressive in her ability to diagnose the issue and provide treatment. At the end of my appointment she told me call if it didn't get better and the next day ( Friday before Memorial Day weekend!) I had to call and a technician communicated with her over the phone and she increased the strength of my medication. Given the timing of this incident I would have been in a crisis if not for the care that this practice provided to me. I can't thank them enough!!!!!

I have a vision plan which covers 100% of my visits with no co pay. When i had get fitted for contacts, Dr Ruffini's office charged me a "mandatory" $49 dollar fee "per PA state law" (which was made up and wasn't reported to my insurance company). Dr Ruffini's office also made my glasses too strong, I was getting headaches, so I had to get new lenses made. His office charged me a $49 "refitting fee" (which also wasn't reported to my insurance company). I'm done, I've moved onto a nationwide chain with no problems.
