He taught me more Kenpo than I taught him mixed kempo. He said he liked Dominic Retana and he was one of his best students in town and His brother Phil Retana was one of the best next after his brother Dominic. Both come highly Reccomended to me by him and Phil's brother, Dominic, is maybe the only one I would reccomend before him.

The instructors here are top notch, and I could not possibly be any more impressed with their professionalism and knowledge in the art of KENPO Karate. Their patience and wisdom at this school is second to none. There is also a lineage to Grandmaster Ed Parker the founding father to American KENPO. In my opinion this ranks it number one in Springfield, Missouri. Please understand that when you come to the school there is an unwritten code here, "EARNED NEVER GIVEN," you will advance only with hard work and perseverance. Call Phil Retana today and schedule a time to come to the studio and chat. Walking in the door the very first time really is the hardest part.

This is the best karate school in the Branson area. They have excellent and professional…read moreinstructors who are true masters at their craft. They also have a nice dojo and friendly environment. You really feel like family when you are here. This is the only traditional Japanese-style karate dojo I've found in the area. They have a great reputation and are well known for producing solid martial artists that are both respectful and powerful. They also have separate classes for kids and adults. Which, as an adult, I found really nice. I didn't want to be thrown in with a bunch of young kids while I was learning. My son is in the kids classes and he loves it. It's definitely not a "Mcdojo." There are no 2-year black belts or young children that have black belts at this school. It might take longer to earn your belt ranks here, but if you stick around, get to classes, practice and work hard, you will earn and be a TRUE black belt. They teach more than just typical karate punches, kicks and blocks. You'll also learn ground fighting, sparring, jujitsu, traditional weapons, body mechanics, pressure points and self defense techniques. Seriously, there truly is no better martial arts school in the area.
