Since I've found no other place to review this product, I'll have to do it based on the NY branch. I purchased this product online using their "ColourMatch" app to help cover a birthmark. I spent about $360 for the camouflage and the starter kit. Biggest waste of money, and here's why: 1) they messed up my online order, and until I contacted them, they did not reach out to me. They then figured out their error and sent it with "expedite" shipping. The product was terribly packaged and arrived with a bent up box and broken cap to one of the cleansers 2) the actual camouflage was terribly mismatched to my actual skin tone. I followed the exact instructions from their app multiple times, which I thought would ensure a close match- I was wrong. The app is terrible. 3) I emailed them again with my above concerns. Could someone help me color match? If not, could I return for a refund? No one replied !! **In summary - I spent $360 on a product that arrived broken and does not actually match my skin tone ! I am sorry to say the Microskin experience has been pretty substandard. I have found their colourmatching app to be so off - to the point that I have shelled out on two separate shades, neither of which are remotely correct. And now need to by a third. In addition, it took literally weeks for my airbrush to arrive and when it did it was faulty. I am getting married next week and wanted to be able to use it for then. HOWEVER I have also been extremely disappointed with Microskin New York over the last month. As a person who suffers from Vitiligo - it is VERY UPSETTING to have work with Nasty people, pay EXORBITANT prices, and then feel left out in the cold when you need help. For me Microskin has really been life changing. I have some discoloration on my legs and a medium sized birthmark on my face. I have tried everything out there but my problem was always that I needed to cake it on to get enough coverage. Microskin is different in that its a color corrective so it works with your skin to make the right color - so no reason to cake it on. I have my own custom color, one for my legs and one for my face. Its really been great and the girls at the office are so sweet. I recommend it highly. Only downside is that it takes several days to learn the process but after that its pretty simple. read more

When I first went to Microskin years ago I was helped by a very kind young lady who made my experience there so wonderful I left with nothing but amazing things to say about Microskin. *Keep in mind I have to fly to NYC from VA and get a hotel room in order to be seen......so the next time I was seen a few years later I also had a wonderful experience with the same young lady and updated my colors to cover all of the seasons. She even created a "general" color for me too. ......I would assume all of this would be on file some where....... Sadly the past two times I called to order I have had the worst experiences with the manager of this office. She is not accommodating at all and basically made me feel terrible when I called to question my order. She made me, the customer, feel awful. Having vitiligo is no fun to begin with, but then to have to deal with not being able to reorder colors you know you have had in years past (longer than 5 years!!!!!!) is very upsetting! Many years ago I got a Brachioplasty; cosmetic surgery whereby fat is removed from the upper arms. It was well worth it, however the downside was an obvious, long vertical scar on the inside of each arm from shoulder to elbow. I had tried laser therapy and needling, and although they helped the success was limited. Over the counter makeups were never a great match to my skin. After discovering Microskin on the internet, I flew to New York from Los Angeles in mid-February 2020 to get a customized makeup blend, and was extremely satisfied with my experience from beginning to end. Making the appointment from Los Angeles was easy, and customer service was patient and helpful. The appointment went without a hitch. The makeup artist I worked with was professional, an expert at what she did, and I was treated with kindness, care and respect. I'm absolutely thrilled to have this product. I can wear sleeveless tops again! I highly recommend Microskin, the office staff, and the makeup consultants in every way. Shortly thereafter the virus hit. I wish Microskin and all businesses (and all people) in New York and the world at large deliverance from this evil. I was a little bit apprehensive about trying Microskin at first since I am a male and in my 20s. However, I was desperately in need of something to help me conceal some of the acne scars and redness I've accumulated as a result of having cystic acne in my early and late teens. This was all because of a special event I had coming up and I just didn't want any of the redness or scars to be showing. I have to say that I was quite impressed. Being a male, I had no idea how to apply this sort of thing and I didn't know what to expect but one of the girls took quite a bit of time to show and instruct me on all of the different ways you can apply it and take it off. I feel much better about using it now when I have to since I know what I am doing and what I can expect. I was told that Microskin itself wasn't really considered a "makeup" but again, being a male, I don't know what wearing regular makeup feels like so I can't comment on that. Hi I intend to use this product in near future. I have vitiligo I am worried that tomorrow after application and usage for years, the current treatment of homeopathy which am doing should not impact. I mean natural repigmentation process which is being undergoing through homeopathy treatment am having , should continue and should not be impacted by usage of microskin every day. This product is a crock of shit.....I went to the microskin center this afternoon and I had it applied to my face by the technicians via airbrush.....it is NOT a second simulated skin, as they claim. When it's applied it looks like bad makeup. Seriously like a very heavy, bad foundation makeup. From a few feet away it reminded me of that makeup they put on dead people. I have a birthmark that covers part of my face and half of my neck, and I have been trying to cover it up for years. I did a decent job with store bought cosmetics, but it was clearly noticeable, and, even worse, it would always get all over my collar. Needless to say, you can imagine how excited I was to find out about Microskin - and let me tell you, it's every bit as good as advertised. It literally will not come off unless you actively remove it with a cleaner, though I would recommend not wearing it for more than a day or so. The product is outstanding, and I will be a customer for years. I'll be honest - I would probably buy the product regardless of the customer service, but it is absolutely exceptional. For example, I had to go to a wedding earlier this year, and I was terrified about people noticing my birthmark. I was convinced that I would look so hideous, it would draw attention away from the bride and the groom. Remembering Microskin, I decided to call the New York office and tell them about my problem. I spoke with Michelle, who was extremely empathetic about my situation. Although she advised that the best results come after receiving a consultation, she had me email a photograph of myself so that they could rush out the colors that matched my skin tone. It got here in plenty of time to experiment with the product, and by the day of the wedding, I was confident in my abilities to apply it properly. The wedding went great, and it didn't wear off at all. I just can't say enough about the experience I had with Michelle, who was incredibly kind, sensitive, and attentive to my needs. This product changes lives, so they know how important it is to get it right. And let me tell you- Michelle is the right person for the job. I can't imagine working with anyone else. A little bit later, I had the opportunity to visit their travel clinic in Houston, where I was seen by a technician/makeup artist named Austin. He was very patient, and took all of the time I needed to explain the product and create a custom color that matches my skin tone exactly. Perhaps most importantly, he was extremely kind, and didn't look down on me for choosing to wear makeup (you would be surprised how many do). Like Michelle, he knows that he is changing lives, so he takes all the time necessary to make sure that this is done right. He had me stand in various lighting conditions to ensure that the product was doing its job, and if there was even a little bit of room for improvement, he would start the process all over again. After he found the best color for me, he had me practice with an airbrush so I could get used to the process, and see if I could duplicate the steps he took when applying it to my face/neck. His knowledge and expertise was incredible, and he gave me several tips on how to apply it so that it would be as convincing as possible. (For example, he told me that applying lightly on my neck would be more natural, and had me apply it to areas where I don't have a birthmark so that it would balance out). They made a point to find the very best people for the job - ones that have exceptional talent, along with the social skills and compassion necessary to work with people like me. It works but I was going on a trip and had been a long time customer and asked if they could squeeze me in. And called a week before. And they were booked weeks in advance. They need to hire more people. And they need to be open later. Closing at 4:00 is very early. Better customer service is needed!!!!! I have been a Microskin client for many years. I have vitiligo and for years I was severely depressed and struggled dealing with my condition and trying to find something to camouflage it. When I heard about Microskin, I couldn't believe it. I thought that I finally found something to give me confidence and I can live my life without people staring at me. I was nervous going in because I never felt comfortable with anyone seeing me without some kind of cover, but after reading on the website what it did I had to try. I thought this would be the answer to my prayers. The girls at Microskin were amazing. They were caring and sympathetic to what I was dealing with and made me feel very comfortable. The office wasn't what I expected, those poor girls spray so much and the room fills up with a huge cloud. I really don't know how they do that all day. I would think it must be a health hazard. They say on the website that they "SCAN" your skin (which they absolutely DO NOT). They say it's "NOT A MAKEUP", it ABSOLUTELY 100% IS MAKEUP. With that said, it still was definitely a great experience and I was beyond happy when they were finished although I did have some concerns. It took so much product to cover me and the product was so expensive. I didn't know how I was going to afford it on a "blue collar" salary, but then I figured the website said it lasts for days so maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Unfortunately, besides the lies about scanning and not being a makeup, Microskin was not at all what they claimed it to be. By the time I got home it was rubbing off on everything. It ruined the leather in my car, my steering wheel and doors. It ruined many sets of sheets and a lot of my clothes. Then a few hours later, I noticed it turning black and gray on my face. I was so embarrassed. I was so upset and so angry, I felt like it was false advertising and was ready to call a lawyer. I decided before I do that, let me go in and see if the consultants there could possibly do something to fix it. Maybe it was just a fluke. They worked with me and tried and tried and tried. It always rubs off and always eventually turns black, so I have to constantly re-apply which makes me go through more than I should have to. Plus I have to constantly adjust my color. The girls at Microskin discussed my issues and even though I usually worked with 1 consultant, they all tried to figure out why the color changed on me and could never figure out why. I was so angry about the fact that they falsely advertised and there was so many times I wanted to speak to the owner of the company, but the but unfortunately even with all it's problems it's the best thing I could find to cover it (even if it only lasts half the day). With that said, I learned how to deal with the problems of Microskin the best way I could and have been somewhat happy. In the last year though, employees started leaving and for a while there was only 2 people working there. I was worried they might close. Then they hired a new person for the front desk, then a new consultant. Then my consultant informed me the consultant who had been there since the day 1 was leaving and then my usual consultant told me she was leaving too. I was so upset, but the new consultant was so nice that I figured everything would be ok. That is definitely NOT THE CASE AT ALL. The new woman at the front desk, who is supposedly the new "manager" is beyond sarcastic and nasty. I called today to make an appointment for yet another color adjustment and was shocked at how I was spoken to and I told her I wanted to speak to her boss. I am so glad I went to the Miscroskin yesterday. I felt like I had a new life. I don't feel embarrassed to hide my white spots again. I've found this place from one of the non-profit skin organization websites. I read some comments and reviews from the users and thought I should give a try. I called to the office and asked about the availability and cost. It was just so much money so I waited. Then, about three weeks ago, I was on Yelp and wanted to see if there were any reviews for Microskin on Yelp. I started using Yelp a lot recently. I found it and shocked the rating was horrible. The reviews mainly were about customer services and not for the products. I know they have good products as I read the reviews from the real users. I was also shocked and excited that I can buy a voucher thru Yelp with just $125 for $300 package which is a consultation cost. I called to the office again and spoke to a person and her name is Michelle. I wanted to make sure the voucher is valid before purchasing. She told me that it's valid and asked me if I want to make an appointment. I guess they are just good so they don't have any availability for the next day or the same week. I was really trying to have the earlier appointment as possible. Michelle is so nice! She knew I was anxious about the appointment. She told me that she would let me know and move my appointment up if there were any cancellations. Unfortunately they didn't have it and I had to wait for a three full weeks. I went in the office. I was greeted by the staff at the front desk. They are very friendly and welcoming. I filled in some paper works and waited a little bit and met my color/make up specialist, Yicely. She is so nice and sweet. She was so patience with me because I wasn't happy with the colors she put on in the beginning. They looked not natural and you could see the texture. Yicely explained it to me that was part of the process. She had confident that she would find the right color that covers my white spots. It took her four tries and finally she made two colors that cover the white spots on my hands and feet perfectly. I mean natural looking!! I received a kit that includes custom-made two colors that would last me for a long time, powder, an applicator, and some sponges when I left. I have struggled with the social reactions of my visible skin condition, vitiligo, for 20+years. I had tried everything to cover it up, and was beginning to feel there were no options. The only reason this place gets 1 star is because of the technician, Austin, who so patiently helped me today for four hours and made it very clear how the whole process and payment works, unlike the woman who manages the office and schedules the appointments (Michelle). DO NOT GO HERE FOR TATTOO COVER-UPS. You may as well have a professional make-up artist do it for you if it's for wedding pictures, etc. When you cover large pieces the makeup is VERY noticeable so you may as well not spend all this time and money for microskin if you're expecting it to look like real skin in real life. It will probably only look "real" in pictures. This is something they're aware of but do not tell you. They lead you to believe it is flawless and seamless and amazing and that no one will notice. I am actually shocked that my dermatologist's office recommended the place to me (which is how I found it) and one of the employees claimed that a patient of theirs came in with microskin and on they couldn't even tell. I cannot say how well it works for other skin conditions but I imagine it is (hopefully!) a little more "real" looking for those who do not need a base like I did to offset the dark tattoo pigments before applying the skin tone. I knew this could potentially be a big bust but I still thought it was worth a shot. This rating is not because the product does not even come close to what is advertised. If that were the only case, I would not waste my time here on Yelp. What really bothers me are all the lies. I will abbreviate experience: My first inquiry was a walk-in. I explained how much ink I need to cover up and the locations on my body. Michelle told me I would need an appt, the consultation would cost $150 and the consultation sends you home with plenty to cover everything I need to hide. She said that because I questioned the size of the bottle she showed me wondering if it was enough and she reassured me that it was. The second inquiry was over the phone when I was finally ready to commit and schedule a consultation. I gave Michelle the same facts and was quoted $250 this time. Fine. Perhaps this time she actually paid attention to what I was saying and realized this will take more time to work on or more product to cover. Or perhaps they had a price increase over the last two months. I wasn't going to cry about it. Last consultation never happened because I couldn't find a time to come in when their office is open. If you have a standard M-F, 9-5 job you will basically need to take a half day off to do this. My third attempt to schedule a consultation actually happened. That was the consultation I had today. When I scheduled it on the phone she said it was $350. I asked Michelle how come and she said it's because I have a lot of ink to cover. I didn't mention that I had told her this same information in person and over the phone in the past and was quoted two other prices. If they can deliver what they promise I'm still not going to cry about it. I come in this morning for my consultation. Michelle asks me to fill in some paperwork. I ask her why the prices on the front page don't list $350 anywhere and she reassured me it's ok and it's $350. Just to make sure, I emphasized yet again how much ink I have and where and, based on my first inquiry there, made sure that if each of the three locations needed a different pigment, that I would be sent home with each of those colors, just as she said you get before, especially since I was paying so much extra. I also inquired again about my cover up needs prior to making the appt over the phone. I reminded her that I would need the spray consistency and the dab consistency just in case and she said don't worry they will do the consultation and you will get everything you need. The caveat here is that they can make what you need but NOTHING comes from the consultation aside from them creating and filing your "color(s)" for you so that you can purchase these from them or have them applied by them (for a fee as well and if you have a normal job you will probably never have time to come in and they're always overbooked by 2 or 3 mos so anything needed "on the fly" will never happen). I would list the ridiculous "contents" of the packages except this is already too long. This is what is in addition to the consultation: One Time Stipple Package $850 (ONLY good for TINY spots) One Time Airbrush Package $1250 One Time Platinum Package $2250 You don't have to be a rocket science to understand (IF told!!) that their service is a consultation fee PLUS any of the above (or at the very least, PLUS the makeup-- which is virtually useless w/out the tools of the package that will enable you to apply it correctly). What is so disappointing is that Michelle truly makes you believe this is a steal (even after exclaiming things like "Wow! That sounds amazing!" or "Seems too good to be true!"). I had made an appointment over a month ago for 11am on October 30 and spoke with a woman on the phone about whether micro skin works for acne hyper pigmentation. The woman said they can't guarantee results but she's seen some miracles and truly amazing results from people who've walked out the door - I am restating this conversation so that whoever who talked to me on the phone who scheduled my appointment would remember. Today to confirm my appointment I spoke with a woman named michelle who claimed she's 95% of the time the one who schedules the appointments and swore she doesn't remember me. Well I must've talked to someone else during the other 5% then unless she's lying. She claimed to be a manager but obviously is terrible at her job because she does not keep track of her shit. She said someone from out of state has an appointment in the system at the time I am 100% positive I scheduled for and they can't accommodate me because that customer is flying in from out of state and I'm in state. Wtf that's a terrible reason, a customer is a customer and it's a really shitty move to discriminate like that. I think they need to fire this woman and hire someone who understands customer service - the customer is always right and I for sure was Goddamn right and she was very rude about my certainty of appointment scheduling. She said it must've been a human error and the person must have not saved my name in the system - that's a sorry ass excuse. I planned my whole working day around this and had a flight to catch as I'm leaving on my vacation with my BF so that I don't have to keep wearing makeup to hide the scars on my face as they are healing with him. I really was looking towards finally finding a solution to my problem/insecurity. Also at the end of our conversation where she completely dismissed me the entire time she asked for my first and last name again and how to spell it, I have no clue why but probably so she could defend herself and her mistake. Micro skin - I hope you take cases like terrible customer service seriously, because it's not cool to make a customer who was really looking forward to it to wait 1.5 months and say whoops my bad we must've not properly saved the appointment you booked in our system. this is not the way to treat someone or run your business. read more

I really do like what I walked away with, but took a star off because of the indirectness I experienced at first. I came here for the third time since three years ago. I was originally told that "color adjustments" (i.e. changing the color of my remaining product darker to match my skin when I'm tan) were free but when I called today, the receptionist told me that the policy had changed and that there is a fee of 150 for a "color adjustment". She said that I didn't have to bring anything and that I would be getting a new bottle of product. When I got there and actually paid for the 150, I was then shown packages that would make the cost of the makeup cheaper. I was very confused because it was misleading the way the "color adjustment" was represented. I thought the color adjustment came with a bottle included. The color adjustment turned out to be a color matching consultation for returning customers who had already had a profile with them from the past. If I were to purchase a package, I would pay an additional 450 for 3 bottles of product normally priced at 200 each, which includes a discount, or credit, of the 150 for the initial color adjustment, plus another color adjustment down the line. So essentially 600 total for 2 color adjustments and 3 bottles of product (2 of which I can leave there on my account to be adjusted with the additional color adjustment if I wanted later down the line). I ended up doing a package after the initial 150 for the color adjustment. After the 150 I paid, I did an additional 420 to purchase their airbrush machine kit which included a travel sized setting powder (20), a 4 oz bottle of product (200), the air brush machine (200) for a total of 570. As my spot is relatively small, this will last me 2 years easy. Plus, I was told that the product use is comparatively lesser per application than the traditional sponge version. Now onto the good parts. I LOVED my makeup technician Austin. He took his time explaining how to put the product on and mixed the colors up several times until I was satisfied with how it looked. He took extra steps like having me go to a room with natural sunlight to see the true color on (something I always do when I'm trying makeup on myself). Also, he had me put it on to see if I was doing it optimally. After almost 2 hrs, I said that I would like to try airbrushing but was told in the past that it was only good for large areas, he explained to me how it could definitely work for smaller patches, went through another round of mixing the colors, and showed me how to do it myself. I've never done any kind of airbrushing before but took to his demonstration and explanations fairly quickly. I was able to apply it quite nicely and fell in love with how it looked. He made me feel comfortable and worked to find the solution and combination that was right for me. I didn't feel like he was rushing or trying to sell me on things that I didn't need at all. In fact, he even told me about a special holiday sale they tend to run in Nov through Dec, so for those of you looking to buy multiple bottles, I'd hold off for that 30-40% discount!! Bottom line, I would return because of the confidence I feel from this product's coverage and I would definitely ask for Austin next time!! My experience with him was top notch. I cant say enough good things about Microskin. I have had vitiligo for many years and have always hid behind my clothes. The staff at microskin really made me feel comfortable. Kerry and Nicole were amazing and took the time to match my color almost perfectly. The product stays on even in the water which is amazing for swimming and the beach. People cant tell I have cover on. I have used so many products in the past but have always been dissapointed. The only negative is it takes some time to learn to apply on your own but well worth the time. read more

I have to say that Microskin has changed my life. To be honest, I never write reviews, but this product has really made me a new person. I have suffered from vitiligo since I was 5. It really made me insecure. I had it all.. A career as a physician, a wonderful boyfriend (now husband) ... But because of my skin condition , could not enjoy so many simple activities. Going outside with a dress on , riding a boat ... I was so limited because if my skin condition which caused depigmentation on my legs. Microskin really changed all of this ! I look like I have normal legs and can proudly say I recently went on a boat and even swam with the makeup on. It never comes off on clothes , and looks natural. It is not meant to be used as foundation but is for skin problems... So please disregard the above negative reviews ! Take it from me, because I can honestly say my life started after I discovered this product. If you have a skin condition , I highly recommend it. Plus, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I have Vitiligo. About four years ago, I was one of Microskin's first clients at the New York location, and was thoroughly pleased with the visit, from initial reception, to evaluation, to makeup preparation for my different skin areas, and finally to training for both myself and my husband in the proper application techniques using the spray gun device. Over the past four years, the staff at Microskin was receptive to my occasional calls for advice and replenishing my supplies. As my skin colors have changed somewhat over the years, I scheduled a follow up evaluation, and last week my husband and I returned to New York. During the nearly 3-hour visit, Liz, Nicole and Kerry worked together to refine the colors best suited for my various areas of skin involvement, and showed me and my husband the new and improved application techniques. They were SUPER, and I left with new and restored confidence in my appearance after application of the new products. As anyone with Vitiligo knows, it is difficult to be in public places where people often do not understand why we look as we do, with patches of widely ranging skin discoloration. I'm a bit puzzled at some of the negative reviews on here. I've been a client of Microskin for years and have had no issues. In fact, it's such a great product and has helped me so much that I am offended by a recent review posted. Microskin is a camouflage for people to use mostly in warm weather. If someone is supposedly a long time customer wouldn't it make sense to call a few weeks in advance in the summer? Call me crazy but these girls are very busy in the summer! They do not close at 4 (I'm pretty sure the hours are listed to the right of these reviews). Again, any long time customer would know that. Just saying. Also, being a long time customer, I do know that a doctor did not invent it. A makeup artist in Australia did. So my point is please don't trust reviews of bitter people. Yes, skin conditions cause physical as well as mental distress and at times it makes us vent our frustrations out on people who don't deserve it. Also, why would you give a bad review to a company who you obviously have depended on for a while? I suffer from vitiligo and Microskin has literally saved my life! I'm giving it 4 stars only because I do agree that they need more people working there. read more
