Even with added pressures and procedures due to corona, the staff was pleasant and my order was fulfilled accurately. If you are concerned about your safety, then do not use Knowledge Bar at Micro Center. My review only deals with the dangerous policies that Micro Center has adopted. They have a smart policy to queue customers who need repairs outside the store. However, you are called into the store to wait in another line. I had to wait inside a compromised space for 40 minutes. I expected to wait but forcing me to wait inside alongside many customers who don't take C19 seriously was scary and frustrating. Again, my review deals only with MC's blatant disregard for customer health. The manager and store clerk were excellent with dealing with a frustrated customer, me. read more

I'm a huge fan of Micro Center when I don't want to pay the big bucks to Best Buy for a laptop or any other device. The products are just all here and more of a selection I can choose from. Not only that, I know the product I'm receiving will last me for a long time because most of the things I've purchased from here have lasted me many years. So knowing I have a wide array of options and quality products I know I can trust the products at Micro Center. For instance today I was looking for a router, I didn't need the customer service team to tell me which one was going to be good for my two story home. I just needed to be able to go through the specs on the different routers. The other time I was here I knew I was getting a great deal on my laptop because I compared it to other stores. I went to Best Buy and the laptops they had were over priced and not what I wanted or needed. I also went to Costco and asked the customer service associate about the Toshiba's there and she knew nothing about what she was selling there! I came to Micro Center and I don't care if they knew squat about Toshiba's it was the fact I had more options to choose from and different price ranges to compare and contrast. Actually they did know a little bit about Toshiba even if it wasn't the brand they wanted me to go with. At that time I was looking at laptops the Toshiba, Asus or Dell were my top 3 choices why I stuck with Toshiba is it consistently delivers quality products each year. If I have a question, I can either call Toshiba or Micro Center and have them answer what I need to know. I also appreciate the friendly service each time we purchased something big like the laptop or if I got service on my laptop, the general manager would come out and shake my hand. I have not seen this in any other place but a car dealership. This speaks measures to their quality of service and care for customers. In addition, I like getting the little stuff like keyboards, mouse, USB's. Not to mention we've gotten a couple of free USB's here just for being valuable customers. Microcenter is not that complicated. It's an electronics store. You need to build a computer, and don't feel like dealing with mail order? Did you mail order, only to realize, you forgot to order cables, and you've got a big LAN party coming up, or a raid tomorrow night? Microcenter has you covered. This seemed to be the quintessential place for a computer geek to work - yet somehow, I never worked here. I always looked down on the staff because "how can *they* know more than *me*?!" Yet somehow, sometimes, I had to swallow my pride and ask for their opinions or thoughts. The staff? Cool guys, most of the time, they're helpful. Sure, sometimes they can be caught chatting it up a little too much (I heard waaay too much about one of your coworkers getting cut, and the PTO policy, and how he had been taking so much time off already... c'mon guys, off the sales floor!) - but they have always lead me to the "thing" I was looking for for - a decent, portable external HDD, a new SDD drive, some cables I needed, a good, cheap HDMI cable... whatever. I turned in my laptop for a new screen about three weeks ago, they initially told me it would be about four days maximum. They told me at first they had the screen on hand but would need the cable. After the cable got in, they told me that I needed a new screen. When i told them that I already knew that and initially turned it in for a new screen, which they said they had on hand, they told me they used it for a different unit and they'd have to order it separately, but they could do it overnight. They did NOT order it overnight, it took another week, and they got that installed, and then told me that they also didn't order another part that they needed, and it's going to be longer before they have it in. The customer service has been rude at best, whoever is ordering the parts has been entirely incompetent, and the manager Dennis Santero sent me a very blatantly rude text when i was inquiring about all the different mistakes they'd made. Currently waiting on more parts to be delivered for the third time, genuinely not expecting them to have it correct this time either. read more

It refers you to text them and then they send u more automatic messages to ultimately tell u to go inside the store. I personally don't care for the staff at this Microcenter. I've had more negative experiences at this store than positive. Like today I told the guy I needed a usb to lan connection cord for my raspberri pi I told the guy that I thought is was a type c connector but wasn't sure as I needed it for the raspberri pi usb. Well he didn't correct me and gave me the wrong part now I have to go back to the store. Plus I found a keyboard I really liked was really considering buying it or the reman one. Glad I came home as I found that walmart had the exact same one for $10 cheaper. Another thing that I don't like is they never seem to have name brand stuff, they always seem to have the cheap stuff here. Like Tripplite or trendnet and many others of course. I find that I typically do better going to newegg than I do going to microcenter and prices are typically cheaper. But overall the staff is just horrible, I hate the commissions and then when they don't have commission stuff to sell you then there is no staff around. Plus they don't have any enterprise stuff here or they have very few enterprise items. For that either HPE or CDW does better. Just my two cents. read more

DO NOT PURCHASE EXPENSIVE ELECTRONICS FROM MICROCENTER!! A few months ago, I walked into MicroCenter on Bethel Road and walked out with a new shiny Microsoft Surface Book. When I purchased the device, I also purchased the Microcenter Protection Plan for $329. The salesperson told me that because it was a Microsoft Surface Book, if there were any issues they would offer me a replacement device because they cannot repair the device in the store. We discussed and laughed about how they are better than those "other guys" who want to take your device and keep it for 1-2 weeks while they "fix it". I was relieved that if there were any problems with my Surface Book, that the trusted staff at MicroCenter would be able to help me. The tides changed today, and they changed for the absolute worst. Over 17 years I have been a loyal customer of this store, and I am considering NEVER PURCHASING ANOTHER ITEM FROM THEM AGAIN! In the past 24 months I have spent upwards of $20,000 in purchases, however they may not see another dime from my wallet. I've recently had some problems with the Surface Book so I took it into the same MicroCenter store on Bethel Road to request a replacement device. The Service Desk Agent said that they would not replace it, but instead would need to take my device for 2-3 weeks and send it to Microsoft to "see if it can be replaced. " Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. Nope. Nope. Nope. I'm 100% sure that the multiple sales people I spoke to said that they would replace the device if there were any issues. Thinking this can't be right, I allowed the Desk Agent to recite his understanding of their policy, and then let him know that was not what I was told when making the purchase and I do not have 2-3 weeks to be without a computer. He requested the time to speak to his manager in order to resolve the issue. The person who greets me next is his manager, the Service Desk Manager. He proceeds to insult me by saying since the Protection Plan "is not what I thought it was," he could refund the $329. Wait. What? So you want me to walk out of here with a $2,500 Surface Book that has problems, zero protection for any issues with it, and $329 in my account because your salespeople misrepresented and falsely sold me your Protection Plan?? After my $4,000 purchase in October, my $600 purchase in September, and the $20,000 I've spent in here over the last two years. No. Absolutely, that can't be how you expect to resolve a small issue like this with a loyal customer. After a few minutes of interacting with his unconcerned and ambivalent persona, I ask him to speak with the Store Manager. Bonus, rather than the store manager, the guy who appears is the General Manager Tom Welsh. This is where it seems like the Twighlight Zone starts. After explaining the situation to the General Manager (Mr. Tom Welsh) THIS GUY MADE NO EFFORT TO FIX ANY OF THE PROBLEMS I IDENTIFIED. He did not review my account to see the actual purchases referenced, the sales rep who misrepresented the Protection Plan, my extensive purchase history or loyalty to the store. He simply stood and recited the policy, and then stated that he had "never heard any salespeople say that they would replace a laptop". Although Tom Welsh verbally said that he understood my position, he also said other than removing the Protection Plan from my laptop, he could not offer any solution. WOW, TALK ABOUT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! A Service Manager and certainly a General Manager have clear ability to solve problems for their customers. Neither of these guys were interested in solving or resolving anything with me. Instead, they shrugged their shoulders and insulted me by suggesting that I should walk out with an unprotected, defective device. In total, for this purchase alone my receipt was $3,360 - not protecting this purchase is NOT AN OPTION. This is not chump change for anyone, and especially for a business owner who uses the technology as a part of their livelihood. So here is my advice and what I'll follow going forward if this issue isn't resolved promptly. I will not make any future purchases with MicroCenter. I'll make large purchases online or even (gasp) Best Buy when I have urgent technology needs. I'll let some of these other players get my $10K wallet-share for next year and beyond. I realize it's Labor Day. I realize that stores have special hours on Holidays. I love this store. I absolutely needed to take care of something tonight. HOWEVER, YELP INDICATES YOUR HOURS on Monday night are until 9:00pm. It's 8:29pm and YELP IS STILL TELLING ME you're open for another 31 minutes. Yet you are CLOSED TIGHT! I just drove 45 minutes to get here and am terribly disappointed! I've never had a bad experience with this store or location, but I don't know if it's Yelp's Fault or Micro Center's fault for not having accurate hours. I'm kind of pissed off actually and now I will need to make another 45 minute (90+ min + my time in the store and round trip) tomorrow on a work day. Again, I fully acknowledge it's the Labor Day Holiday, But I really get annoyed by inaccurate information and failure to pay attention to details like store hours and customer service. Micro Center was like a revelation. It just doesn't get any better for computer supplies in Columbus. Best Buy and Circuit City might try and trick you into thinking they have good selections, but they don't. They don't... A whole room of Mac stuff is the best selection you'll find anywhere outside the Apple Store at Easton. They've got a huge aisle of laptop cases. A whole aisle of blank DVDs and CDs. Awesome. Micro Center stocks not just computer goods (and lots of, them by the way) but also plenty of home theater stuff, cameras and cell phones. We needed to replace our Mac Mini (our fourth in over 20 years). I checked online, and Micro Center had the best price by $100. Kent Jenkins in the Apple Department was fabulous to work with! What he doesn't know about Apple products is not worth knowing. He explained the features of the new model, diagnosed what went wrong with the old one (I brought it in), told us how to wipe the hard drive to donate it through Micro Center or Apple ... and he was fun to work with. We stopped by the TV department, as our Sony LCD is now 6 years old and will probably need to be replaced in the near future. Benjamin Weislogel did a wonderful job of educating us about current television technology and introduced us to OLED. So knowledgeable! And super nice. We also had fun trying out the virtual reality setup in the store. read more

I came in twice in about a week time span and both times I was assisted by a very kind and knowledgeable guy named Jacob in the 3D printing department. He helped me choose the proper filament when I was unsure of where to begin and then when I blew a fuse on my printer he helped me find the replacement fuse I needed. I never knew about Micro Center until the Apple Store lead me to them. Thank you so very much, Apple. My Macbook Pro was facing lots of issues so I visited Mirco Center to get a SSD. The space is MASSIVE with signs everywhere (Knowledge Bar, Online Orders, Build Your Own PC, Flatscreens, etc.) aka they can fill allllll your technological needs. I checked into the Knowledge Bar through a kiosk and waited for roughly 7 minutes before they saw me. They have free coffee while you wait! I talked to one of their Knowledge Experts one-on-one and trusted his knowledge right away. He listened to me share the problems I've been facing, took my laptop to a back room to run a few quick tests and came back with a solution. Even though he used terms I've never heard before, he willingly explained everything to me in more common language. We filled out some paperwork together and I was out of there in roughly 20 minutes. I left my laptop in their hands on a Friday at 7pm and was told that it would be ready by Sunday evening. Surprisingly, I got a phone call around noon the next day that it was ready for pick-up ANNND was $100 cheaper than they originally quote me for. ANNNND it works flawlessly now. Yeeeeeeee! Micro Center discovered that a part in my laptop had been recalled by Apple because it was faulty. Why Apple did not tell me this information makes me rather annoyed but Micro Center's honesty and expertise will keep me coming back! read more

Yet another trip. Six months ago I tipped a glass of wine on my keyboard. I took it in, they replaced the damaged parts after a huge hassle as reflected by my the last review. Now I am being told there is over 300.00 in corrosion damage. You mean that you saw the wine I told you was there, replaced the damaged parts, and then left the wine on my computer? This sounds intentional to me. It sounds like these individuals who do this for a living obviously new that a few months down the road corrosion would occur and need additional repairs. Maybe there is no way to clean the interior of a laptop - that is literally the only explanation that will be excepted. My theory was confirmed. They don't do cleaning - they only replaced the parts that are currently not working. So instead of even being decent people and suggesting having it cleaned to prevent corrosion later (150.00 service at a repair shop) they just let me take it home ignorant of any future possible issues. read more

Don't waste your money on there. They ruin your computer first and ask you to pay for repair then. Take 1 month for diagnostics and 1/2 month just browsing for parts. Finally fix the original problem with tape and cost $230 just for changing a battery. Then they made my laptop's system corrupted so I lost all my files, and ask me to pay another $100 to re-install the system, just because I didn't buy their $100 data copy. read more

First I want to say that the floor staff and door staff, and cashiers have always been super polite and helpful and I've loved the experiences I've had at Micro Center, shopping for parts. I've always felt that they've given me great advice and had my best interest in mind. I would NOT recommend taking your computer here to get it fixed. Take it somewhere else, anywhere else. This is a great store if you're looking to build a computer, but completely unreliable for repairing a computer. I wish I would have read the reviews online for others who had taken something to the service desk because I would've known not to trust this process. My issues are with the service and repair desk. I took my computer into Micro Center last week on 8/6 and they told me they would need to run diagnostics and because they're backed up, I would have to leave it with them for a week and pick it back up on 8/13. I was like, yikes, that's a long time, but I've done everything I could for the computer (within my own ability) and it wasn't performing correctly, so this was my last effort - leave it with computer doctors for a week. I paid and they reassured me I'd have it next week. Before I left, they let me know if they needed my permission to wipe it or anything, they would call me beforehand. By Tuesday (5 days later), I was feeling kind of anxious and sent a chat on their website, asking about the process. I received no reply. I called on Wednesday (6 days later) and asked where it was in process, and they told me that my technician, Brice, hadn't started on it yet and would start that day or the following day (Thursday, 8/13, pick up day). That made me kind of nervous, but I figured okay, whatever, they know what they're doing. Thursday rolls around and at 2:45p I try texting them (there is an option to do this on their website). Someone replies to the message and directs me to the service number. The service number replies, letting me know they got my message and someone would reply shortly. By 4pm, I had to go into work, so my partner (also authorized to pick my computer up) calls them to figure out a pick up time. They tell him that they haven't started working on it because it is my technician's day off, but they would call him back later. Mind you, it's 3 hours until they close at this point. 30min prior to closing, 6:30pm, my partner calls again because neither of us have heard back. They told him they aren't sure if it's been fixed but that he will get to it tomorrow. At that point, a full week has passed and nothing has been done to help me. I paid for a service and they neglected to do it in the quoted time frame. I went into the store this morning and talked with Dennis, the service desk manager. I let him know my concerns and told him at this point, I've lost faith in their ability to service my computer or offer adequate customer service and I'd like a refund and to take my computer somewhere else. He was apologetic and refunded me immediately, which I'm grateful for. read more

I bought a desktop computer at micro center the day before thanksgiving and was very satisfied with the salesman and sales process. The problem was when I got home and opened the box, this computer had a different graphics card then the one on the floor and advertised on the box. I immediately called that Friday and was told they weren't accepting returns or exchanges until Saturday due to Black Friday. I then texted back to their customer service department to make sure they had the exact computer I wanted to buy with the correct graphics card. First of all the texting process took almost all day as the responses were an hour apart and sometimes the responses made no sense with regard to my questions. Finally I was assured that they had my computer with the correct graphics card. So I made the trip back to the store that Saturday. After a while they brought up the new computer. I asked that they open it to make sure it had the correct graphics card. When they opened it...once again it had the wrong card. They tried to explain that the card had the same performance as the NVIDIA card that was supposed to be in the computer. Maybe it was, but it's not what I bought, not what was on the floor or the sales literature. They said there was nothing they could do so I returned the entire purchase. A HUGE inconvenience and after purchasing from Micro Center for well over 20 years, I probably will never return. To add insult to injury, they sent me a satisfaction survey. They have started penalizing loyalty. I have spent more than $2000 there in the last 2 months alone. I bought/built every PC I have had for the last 15 years there, I bought the Vive there when it came out, I bought my video cards there, all my ram, I bought my TV there, and some guy who has never been there can use a coupon for 50% off the ender 3, and I can't because I am not a new customer... I used to tell people to go here. I always said the same thing, "They're honest, and they know what they are doing." because their sales staff never screwed me to get a sale. They turned me away on several occasions, saying "No, you don't really need this, it wouldn't be that much of an upgrade." I thought they had integrity. I thought they valued the customer's loyalty more than a quick sale. I don't know how many people they think are local, nerdy enough to want the latest high-tech gadgets, and have never shopped at Microcenter. But they let all of us who do shop there know that they care more about making new customers than keeping our business. read more

The ONLY reason I gave the Micro Center 3 stars our of 5 is because of my personal fear of technology. Go ahead, laugh..... For the rest of the human population who are computer-savvy, I think it would be computer paradise. They have different sections for build your own computer, an Apple section, a book and manual for "blank (fill in the blank)" for dummies, and all sorts of computer-related magazines and such. There are section of school/office supplies and all sorts of computer parts. They also have a gaming center where the sell new and used games. I'm not sure if they buy any games, but they sure do sell pretty extensive variety of games. *sigh*..... so guys, if you are one of those 21th Century tech-savvy peeps, I think you may find something in here for you. For those who are looking to build your own computers, this is a good place to go or at least to start at. I first discovered Micro Center way back in the day when they called the Lane Avenue Shopping Center home, during the infancy of the internet when top of the line PCs had less computing power than today's smartphones and cost $2000. There was no geek squad and there sure as hell wasn't a bar of geniuses. The only people who bought computers at that time were gamers, AutoCAD designers and general tech nerds like me. In the pre-internet world, Micro Center was literally the only ticket in town. Sadly, now that no self-respecting household wouldn't be caught dead without at least half a dozen internet-enabled computing devices apiece at the ready, the need for brick and mortar retail is quickly fading away. Online behemoths like Amazon.com can offer no tax sales with free shipping, but they can't offer what I think is Micro's biggest selling point, and that is a product knowledgeable staff. They compliment that know-how with a full spectrum of PC and Mac systems, and an endless sea of hardware for the do-it-yourself custom PC builders like me, as well as software, books and peripherals. They've also broken into the general consumer electronics market and now include home theater gear, gaming hardware, digital cameras, handheld devices, you name it. They now have so much stock that they have run out of floor space, giving the store a cluttered, almost claustrophobic feel. What prevents me from giving MC four stars is the frustrating and oddly contradictory trend of aggressive commission sales behavior. I don't remember such a stampede to slap a commission barcode sticker on my shopping cart items more than a few years ago, and often the stickers are applied as a result of minimal or even sometimes no assistance. If that wasn't enough of a turnoff, the irony is that sometimes I can't pay a salesperson to look in my general direction, let alone help me. Believe me, I've noticed this behavior for many years, and I have noticed that the way I'm dressed seems to have everything to do with whether I get helped or not. Now that's a turnoff. Fortunately, I'm just as tech savvy as most of their staff so usually I don't need their help. The bottom line: Columbus' last computer superstore with product knowledge to boot (sorry, but Best Buy and the Apple Store don't compare in this area unless you want to fork over some cash), with competitive pricing and a more than reasonable selection. Micro center lost a customer, went to micro center trying to get a TB hard drive for my laptop, and i found it cheaper from b&h photo. B&H had a hard drive for sale at $69.99 and micro center was selling it at $82.99 so I asked them to price match it. They refused to do so saying they would not price match a store out of state. But they price match newegg and tigerdirect which are also out of state. A time before this I went there with my mom and they tried to oversell her a computer by $300, luckily I have a computer background and knew they did not need that nor request that.. Micro Center has been shady for years, and to save me the headache and frustration just taking my money elsewhere where a company will work with me. Have fun with their "price matching" read more

Woe is me. I know NOTHING about electronics or technology, and I can barely operate my user friendly all-Mac technologies. *simper simper* *bler bler bler* Actually, apparently I just have about 8,000 songs on my itunes and am not willing to get rid of any of them, so since I filled up my hard drive, it was time to buy an external one so that my macbook runs faster and so that it stops telling me that my start-up disc is almost full. For most people, this would not be trauma-inducing, but for me, it is. And of course, i went to Micro Center with my techie-buddy to buy an external hard drive, and of course, with my luck, the one I bought was a bum one! The review I am writing is based on the experience I had exchanging my external hard drive today. Just so you know, the last thing in the universe I would like to be doing is being in an electronics store of any sort, even the Apple Store, so I really needed this to be a good experience - note that I have given the Apple Store a good review because they put me at ease. So, I go to MC this afternoon with my bum hard drive, and I wait in line at returns for like ten minutes. There's only one dude working, and he looks sort of like the robber dude from Home Alone who also played the creepy hillbilly in the first Harold and Kumar movie. You know the dude. Now, unfortuante, yes, but I am not actually trying to be an asshole, I'm just saying that I would have appreciated it if this dude had washed his hair - in situations like this I feel like I need someone who looks professional, that I can trust, because I'm already traumatized just being in this place. But anyway. The appearance of this guy was not professional. I also watched while he tried to charge the guy in front of me a 15% restocking fee for a TV that didn't work - the guy asked to have a manager come over and it was a big to-do. I finally got the manager, who did actually look very professional in a blazer and whatnot, to help me - unfortunately, my own theory was proved false, which I guess is good because I'm not even entirely comfortable with my own comportment theory - because the manager, while helpful in pulling up my electronic receipt for the hard drive, made me go find a new one myself, even though I explained to him that I had no idea what I was looking for. So, I went over to the hard drive section, and flagged down some kid who seemed very uninterested in quelling my fears of exploding external hard drives. He just handed me a different one and sent me on my way back over to exchanges, where I stood back in line for ten more minutes, was rung up by a completely different dude. I didn't like any of this at all. I hate to say next time I'll go somewhere else or buy online, because I want to support local business, but I felt like this whole experience was totally shoddy. Nothing here seems very professional - it seems like the seedy version of Best Buy - which is fine if you know what you want in terms of technology, but not if you have no idea and/or are traumatized by and/or hate technology. I will never shop here again. My warranty was not honored, I was treated rudely, and I am an unhappy customer -- but no one cares, not even corporate. I bought a laptop from MicroCenter on Bethel Road because it's local and local is good and a friend had good customer experience with this place. I bought a laptop and I bought a warranty. After 3 months of normal usage, I noticed the left-click button was no longer working. I took it to MicroCenter. I was told it was going to be at least $200 plus labor and oh, yeah, there's a $50 "we just looked at your laptop" fee. I said, "...what?" I asked about my warranty. Doesn't cover this, I was told. I read through the warranty info. I said, "My warranty covers normal wear and tear." "This doesn't count." "Why?" "Because it's broken." .... Seriously, that's what I was told -- things that are broken are not considered "normal wear and tear." I guess if I ever buy something from MicroCenter again, I'll just stop by every week with my perfectly-fine, totally-working item because the warranty will cover fixing things that don't need to be fixed. One of the associate managers said, "I'm not blaming you for breaking it, because you say you didn't, but I see that it's broken. It wasn't broken when we sold it. You seem like a smart girl...it wasn't broken, right? Then you used it, you agree? And now it's broken. You used it and it's broken. So what do YOU think happened?" I told him that I thought it was a laptop with a faulty piece that broke after normal usage. "Now, miss, if that were the case, don't you think all the other people who bought this would also be here trying to get it fixed? Don't you think the manufacture would have heard about this? All those other people and yours is the only one that broke. It seems to be a user issue, don't you think?" I have no upper body strength and I use my laptop the exact same way anyone else does. I don't have secret Hulk strength and I don't go around breaking laptops. I've had two other laptops -- one was stolen when my house was broken into and I had the other for 9 years -- 9 years and no broken buttons! I use laptops normally and accordingly, any issue that arises must be NORMAL wear and tear. I spoke with the store manager over the phone. He was the rudest person I have ever spoken to in "customer service." It was a ten minute conversation of him telling me exactly what they would do, which was nothing unless I wanted to pay up. He said he was "not going to humor" me (seriously, his words) by pretending like I had a valid argument about normal wear and tear because he and his technicians determined that I broke it and the warranty does not cover things that are broken. I could either pay or have a broken computer but MicroCenter was not fixing it for free. I called the corporate customer hotline. A very polite woman told me that since the store manager and the techs determined I was at fault for breaking it, they would not be able to get the insurance company (from whom I bought the warranty through the store) to cover the cost. She said that MicroCenter would not eat the cost -- I would have to pay. She said she could help me file a complaint with Toshiba (the laptop manufacture) if I "really, truly believed" I hadn't done anything to damage the laptop, but Toshiba would also be unlikely to fix the problem. No one would explain what constituted "normal wear and tear," only that "things that are broken are damaged, which is not normal wear and tear." So again, if you have a perfect computer in great working condition -- MicroCenter will be more than happy to not fix it for free! I will never purchase anything from this store ever again. My warranty was not honored and frankly, I think the store is guilty of fraud. MicroCenter said it would do one thing (fix my computer) if I gave them money by buying a warranty. Then, when I asked them to honor the agreement, they refused. I talked to at least five Microcenter employees/managers, all of whom were condescending and belittling. The only good thing ("good" by very low standards) is that they didn't charge me the $50 "we just looked at your laptop" fee -- only because the corporate customer service rep was very nice and removed it, not because of the store manager or other store associates. read more

Some girls like to window shop at Pier One and daydream of all the things they could buy to decorate their living room, guest room or dining room. I shop Micro Center the same way, browsing up and down the aisles lost in thought. I stand in front of computer monitors the same way a housewife stands in front of dishware trying to figure out what would match the new cloth napkins she picked out on her last trip to Italy. And I much prefer fraternizing with the staff at Micro Center over the staff at Pier One. All of those awkward cute nerdy boys! And hot gamer chicks! Okay, maybe I shop at Micro Center to pick up chacks as much as I do to save money on electronics. Two birds with one stone. read more

Fighting consumerism one value product at a time. Too bad Best Buy out-politics MC and subsequently another poor sap will be swindled into believing a $50+ gold-plated HDMI cable will actually improve their picture quality. Caveat -slight improvement if you're running 20ft+ of cable. The pricing is extremely competitive for a brick & mortar although, higher than say, tigerdirect.com or newegg.com. I've made a number of purchases here, several of which were ink refills for my printer. They have the best prices on HP ink compared to OfficeMax, Staples or Office Depot. I have come to loath the paper receipt (thank you CVS) and thus, appreciate any business that's taken to going digital. All of my Micro Center receipts are conveniently emailed to me. No longer do I worry about receipts for returns or exchanges. No disputes. No problems. read more

Their return/warranty policy is abysmal. I spent $1300 building a gaming computer two months ago and the graphics card I spent $250 on has begun giving me issues. They are refusing to do anything for me, so now I am going to have to go buy a new PSU in order to diagnose it, disassemble my PC and install a new PSU, and if that doesn't fix the problem, I'm going to be without a computer entirely for weeks on end while I wait for MSI to fix/replace my graphics card through the mail. They could easily exchange my card as a defective product and handle the warranty company on their end. I will never so much as step foot in a Microcenter again. read more

Service: Top notch, all the time. I've been here many, many times - since college back in the 90's - and can't remember a single, bad experience. The only negative thing I can think of is, sometimes it's pretty busy and it's hard to get a salesperson to help... but it's always worth the wait. Price: Everything is fairly priced here and they'll match or beat all ads, so can't complain about price. Returns: I've seen some people complain about returns in other reviews and I suppose maybe their situation was extenuating. In my experience, every return has been honored with a "no questions asked" policy, even if the item is opened, as long as it's within their return guidelines. I've even had one situation where I bought two computers here that were over each 2 and 6 months old, respectively. They were having trouble with blue screens and crashes... because I came back and asked if I could spend more money (converting to Apple hardware instead of the PC crap that has always caused problems), they took back the two, 2/6-month old PC's, gave me full store credit and I was able to purchase new stuff (Apple) from them without any issue. Now... compare THAT to any other store in Columbus and tell me you'll get the same service/return policies. My advice to the people who've had bad experiences... When something doesn't work out, come back to the store with your item, and in a gentle/kind manner, explain your issue cordially, and politely ask to be taken care of. People want to help good people. When you show up with your horns on, no one is going to want to do you any favors. Rather, they won't bend for you at all - and then they'll make fun of you after you're gone. You won't come back (they lose) and you won't get your return (you lose). See that? Lose-lose. Be nice... and ask politely and even if it's beyond their typical return policy, if you ask them "to really help you out b/c you've shopped there for so long and plan on coming back," you might just find yourself getting a favor. read more

I'd like to give an award for the single most "lame" effort at customer service experienced in 2012. I know the year's not over but this is the winner.... Stopped by Micro Center today to purchase a new MacBook Air. As I completed the checkout process the cashier turned to someone standing at the front window and said "Tom" at which point a gentleman broke away from clearly a personal conversation, came over handed me his business card and said "I'm the general manager, I hope you found everything you were looking for today and want you to know we appreciate your business" Before I could even respond and ask if they had corporate account reps we could work with, he walked away and went back to his personal conversation. While his words said I care about you as a customer and we value your business, his actions were, "damn here's another customer I have to say this to so they think we care." About once a year I give Micro Center a try on something to see if they have changed, but alas not in 2012.... read more
