Friendly staff, luxuriant surroundings and décor, also add to the experience. There are comfy sofas and leather chairs in the lounge area, or more traditional tables in the 'snug', which is where we mainly dine; whereas the more formal dining area, has that little bit of elegance for that special occasion. Having been through many incarnations since my original review, it was time for an update. The lunch/lounge menu, consists of dishes like hot and cold sandwiches, with the accompanying sides of dressed salad and the Blenheim's legendary chips, so tasty!; They also do pizzas, themed on cities around the world like Roma, Parma, New Delhi and of course, Derby! There are other dishes like burgers, hot and cold meze platters and the fish of the day. The burger was strangely underwhelming, but the Sea Bream, Salmon or Sea Bass when they are on, are definitely stand out dishes, a perfect balance of flavours. The Blenheim is on the pricey side, but the food on the whole is excellent, a great place to wile away a few hours, in comfortable surroundings.

We were also able to finish our work in the bar; we weren't rushed and didn't feel pressured to go; even the tables being carried past us! xx

The first night I ordered off of the late night menu and sandwich was made correctly but the meat was almost frozen it was so cold the second night I had to order the same thing because we got back just as the restaurant was closing and this time the exact same sandwich was made completely wrong, So now I have wasted my money on 2 sandwiches each missing about 2 bites that i took before giving up, and when I let the staff know they just seem to say oh well. Im not sure if because its the late night menu or just how they do things but I wont be doing this again for the rest of my stay, paying for a Taxi and getting food done right is worth the money.

We have sampled the carvery on numerous occasions, the food is very well priced at £6.25 for Sunday Lunch and £3.99 in the evenings from Monday - Saturday. There is even a deal on most of the time, where if you choose from a reduced selection of about six main courses, you get the main and a starter for £3.99, that takes some beating! The carvery usually has a selection of different roasted meats which you can sample, but you have to pay a little extra for lamb. In addition to the carvery, there is also a fairly good selection of what I would term standard pub meals. The surroundings are comfortable, and the food is honest and tasty, well worthy of the budget price. We recently went on a Saturday evening and got four meals - 3 courses for £25, bargain! It is a popular place all the time because of the price and the quality, so it would be advisable to book. It is often jam-packed by 6.30pm. Nothing groundbreaking in terms of a culinary experience, but a good hearty meal nonetheless. Will definitely sample the restaurant soon.

And such good value! If you choose the "Saver" option - i.e. after 24 hours you cannot cancel your reservation without having to pay the full price - these nicely furnished *** en suite rooms won't be more expensive than those at some fleabag in the city with shared bathroom facilities. Just make sure in advance that you really wanna go. All you can eat cooked breakfast is optional, and not cheap - I never book it because I prefer different kinds of breakfast (or no breakfast) on different days. The rooms all come en suite with a shower (Though this time, mine was sadly lacking any real water pressure!), a king size double with a very comfy mattress - good sleep quality is guaranteed - and more than adequate storage for your stuff. Efficient room service every day. Everything's kinda neat here - and everything's kinda "mauve". And that's the only reason I don't use Premier Inn exclusively when travelling in the UK. There's only so much mauve than I can take. ;) - Great location for Derby city centre and the directly adjacent Bus Station. Derby Midlands Rail Station is a 15 minute walk away, and the river's right next to it.

My sink is constantly dripping, the entire hotel smells of old built up cigarette smoke, the hallway light on the top floor is out and the exit sign is flickering like a horror movie. There are no USB outlets or tissues. The mini fridge in my room does not work, and they obviously did not plan on ever needing to fix it because there is no way to access the controls to it. The lift is broken too. Honestly the best thing about this hotel is the giant bell at the front desk.

The location could not be better, you walk out the door and you are facing the shopping high street. The parking is great, you can park your car in the secure car park and leave it there for your stay, the car park is shared by the bus station and shopping centre I believe. The room was good, can't fault it. I didn't have much of a view but it doesn't really matter. They offer smoking rooms which is a rarity these days, I had a smoking room myself and they are situated a long, long way down the corridors from non-smoking rooms. So if you want a smoking room, prepare yourself for a long walk. The staff were very polite on the desk and in the bar area. The receptionist had good knowledge of the local area and was able to help us get around. The breakfast was excellent, probably one of the best hotel buffet-style breakfasts I have ever had. If you stay here I highly recommend making sure you make it to breakfast.

The team there has made my stay very enjoyable, they look after everything - future room bookings, information around town, events, busy times etc. The hotel itself is new, modern and clean. The food in the restaurant is good (breakfast and evening meals). The location is great - close to restaurants and bars ss well as a good running track along the river. I would definitely recommend staying here if you need to be in Derby.

Roast potatoes, the roasted vegetables , some peas pods and an over cooked Yorkshire pudding. Food was warm and not hot. The gravy was bland the whole meal was bland, with little flavor or seasoning. The bar area was a bit noisy with crashing bottles into the recycle bin, and the usual meaningless background music. Service was ok, but no acknowledgement when I was leaving. This meal gave no reason to return.

Swarkestone is a small village south of Derby, in a lovely setting next to the River Trent…read more It's one of those places that has rather too much of historical interest for its size: the bridge and causeway over the Trent, originally built in the 13th century, together form the longest stone bridge in the UK. Its seventeen arches stretch over three-quarters of a mile (1 km). The present handsome spans over the river date from the mid 1700s. The Cavaliers and Roundheads clashed here in 1643 during the English Civil War, and it's where Bonnie Prince Charlie's army stopped and turned back in 1745, ensuring the collapse of the Jacobite rebellion. There has been a pub on the site of the Crewe and Harpur Arms for over 800 years, but the present coaching inn has 'only' been there for about 200. This handsome red brick building is spacious inside, with a central bar, and serves a selection of real ales and typical pub grub. The decor has had a modern makeover, a bit bland for my taste: but the real attraction is, in any case, outside: it has a lovely, large beer garden which runs down to the River Trent, alongside the famous bridge. Although it's close to the road, noise doesn't seem to intrude. It's a lovely spot on a summer's day. Swarkestone is on a lovely circular walk, taking in the River Trent and the nearby Trent and Mersey Canal. It takes about three hours and would make a perfect evening stroll - ending back at the pub, of course...

Stayed here for a few nights whilst on business and the rooms were very well furnished with satellite tv and internet access. Car parking is free and you should be able to see your car from your room as its quite a small premier travel inn in terms of rooms and the space it takes up. Maids were friendly as were the reception staff. Managed to get the room in a sale so it cost very little and i was pleasantly surprised as to the quality and service. Great convenient hotel.
