My toddler son he decided to do a small cup of two ice cream flavors (strawberry & vanilla) and I did one of their real fruit bars with kiwi and strawberry. My wife and I wanted some ice cream while driving through town. We read the reviews and to be honest we were a bit hesitant to try the place. Fruity ice cream isn't our thing. But it looked like it had regular flavors as well., so we tried it. I had the chocolate and my wife had the mint chocolate chip. I didn't know about this place until I drove past one day and saw it. Being curious, I had to stop in. I have now become addicted. It's a little Mexican ice cream shop that serves ice cream and many different types of popsicles. The popsicles feature both the normal milk based type, and a section of fruit water based type. I love the fruit water spicy ones. They also have a menu that has several other street food items. I do not speak Spanish so I have to ask them to explain what the items are, which they happily do. Some of the items are elotes, doritolocos, and mangonadas (apologies if I slaughtered the spelling). I had never tried a mangonadas until a friend of mine was talking about how he used to get them in Mexico. I stopped in and sure enough, they have it. Definitely worth a try if you like a combination of spicy and sweet. read more

There's no better place to get ice cream in Johnson City than Michoacána. They probably have somewhere around 30-40 flavors of homemade Mexican-style ice cream plus all of their pops that you can either eat there or take home and store in the freezer for later. They'll also sell you a liter of any ice cream to take home. I got a liter of fruity pebbles because it literally tastes like a bowl of cereal. We go for the ice cream, but every time we're there, we notice a lot of people getting milkshakes and these wild drink concoctions (not sure what they are). They also have food, which is a little bizarre for an ice cream shop, in my opinion, but the ice cream is definitely the main attraction. Ice cream itself was average. Nothing too special. Daughters liked the popsicles. My biggest complaint is that they said total was about $16 but charged me $20. This is because the original ice cream flavor I asked for (strawberries and cream) was not edible - too many chunks of ice in the ice cream (i.e., not smooth at all). Maybe all the pieces of strawberries were frozen but it was like eating ice. I complained but employee said sales were final. I complained again and he agreed to replace it. But I learned after the fact he only agreed to replace it because he planned on charging me for another cone without telling me! This is very shady . What awful customer service. Will never go here again - for the cost of one cone he lost customers forever. read more

If I could give this place a rating lower than a 1, I would. We were in town for a funeral and decided to stop by and check this place out, don't waste your time. We stood there for a long time waiting for some one to take our order but it never happened, they didn't even acknowledge we were there.
